Special Containment Procedures:
SCP-5XXX is currently in a structure hidden as an office building from the company "Düchting Pumpen Maschinenfabrik GmbH & Co. KG", which is a construction company. It has security guards posted 24/7, disguised as office workers who will divert the public away from the building and prevent further incidents, using force when deemed necessary. Any attempts to move or lower the effects of SCP-5XXX have been unsuccessful. If a human comes into contact with SCP-5XXX he is to be sedaded and then quarantined in a brightly lit room for at least 14 days. Class-C Amnestics are to be administered after the quarantine.

Description:
SCP-5XXX is an area in Königswinter, Germany that is roughly 3 X 3 X 2.5 cubic meters big. The area seems to be a regular space within one of the rooms on the second floor of a building belonging to the "Düchting Pumpen Maschinenfabrik GmbH & Co. KG". In this particular spot it is always night. It being night is indicated by the area being shrouded in natural looking darkness, as well as clocks turning themselves to somewhere between 22:27 - 01:56 if in the vicinity. The time of day or brightness of the rest of the room affects SCP-5XXX in no way, making it neither brighter or darker.
Being in SCP-5XXX for a prolonged time will trigger the fear response of the amygdala in the brain, amplifying the fear of the dark. This amplification starts very subtle, but will manifest and get stronger over the course of typically 3-5 hours. The fear of the dark can persist up to 11 days, leaving constant psychological damage in some individuals due to traumatic experiences with the dark during this time. Some individuals also displayed an activation of the fight or flight reflex and have sometimes hurt themselves or others while in this state.
It is yet to be determined when and how SCP-5XXX was created. The earliest record of SCP-5XXX dates back to 17/04/2021 (for more information see addendum one), and since SCP-5XXX is in an area that has been open before, it is to be expected that it isn't much older.

Description: Subjects were construction workers and were currently building the seccond floor of a bank where SCP-5XXX is located. As they came closer to SCP-5XXX's area, they noticed the unusual dark spot. After SCP-5XXX's contact with all four subjects, Dave █████ killed the others because of the fight or flight reflex activating. After the effect wore off he surrendered himself to the police out of guilt. After the survivor explained what happened to his lawyer, the SCP foundation got alerted. The foundation bought the building and rebranded it as a building from the "Düchting Pumpen Maschinenfabrik GmbH & Co. KG" company since this was the most effective way of containing SCP-5XXX.
