Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Neutralized (Formerly Euclid)

Special Containment Procedures: The remains of SCP-XXXX are held within Size XXL Embalming Suite 01 in Site-(#) in the care of Dr. De la Rosa and their team, where it will remain pending the end of their biological examination and confirmation that the corpse retains no temporal anomalies.

The following describes SCP-XXXX's Special Containment Procedures prior to its neutralization, preserved here for posterity:

Special Containment Procesdures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept within a reinforced glass tank (Minimum Dimensions: 8x30x10 meters) filled with standard salinity sea water, allowing a maximum of one meter of ventilated air at the top of the tank to allow for surfacing and floating. 155 grams of Leatherback-grade chum, consisting preferably of soft-bodied cephalopods and Scyphozoa, is to be deposited daily via access hatch. A hydrophone situated in a protective glass casing in the containment tank should be used to record SCP-XXXX's vocalizations, and at least one member of the research team should monitor the recordings at all times and take note of any and all speech.1

Though not necessary for containment, light intensity above 500 lux has shown to cause distress in SCP-XXXX and may disrupt testing, and thus should be avoided.

SCP-XXXX is currently held at Site-(#), located on a small island off the coast of Puerto Rico. A secondary, smaller containment tank at Site-(#) has been outfitted with an aquatic-to-terrestrial communication system and may be used to contain SCP-XXXX for the purpose of face-to-face interviewing and primary containment tank cleaning.2

Description: SCP-XXXX was an Archelon3 sea turtle, potentially the last of its kind. As such, it resembled a larger D. coriacea with a more rounded carapace and a similar black pigmentation and leathery carapacial covering. At the time of retrieval, SCP-XXX was 514 centimeters long from the tip of its tail to its beak with a shell width of 302 centimeters and weighed 2,175 kilograms4. Cellular testing and SCP-XXXX's own testimony reveal that it was over 400 years old during containment, indicating a potentially anomalous lifespan.

SCP-XXXX was blind; its eyes were white and had no visible lens. A spot of unpigmented skin stretched over a particularly thin area of bone in the top of its skull formed what appears to be some form of sensory organ, allowing light to pass through the skin and bone and directly into the brain. This resembled a similarly diaphonous organ in D. coriacea which is used to monitor the time of day by stimulation of the pineal gland. Unlike D. coriacea however, SCP-XXXX's thin spot was situated over its prefrontal cortex, and its function is presently unknown.

SCP-XXXX's body plan has multiple deviations from the Archelon ischyros species holotype, including a more flexible breastbone, indicating that it may have been a member of an entirely separate species of the same genus which survived past the Cretaceous period or an evolutionary descendent of A. ischyros which adapted to major shifts in climate and geography. It is unlikely that any other members of its species now survive past SCP-XXXX's termination (See Addendums [#] and [#].)

SCP-XXXX's primary anomalous trait was its ability to foretell the events in non-prime post-branch unattainable chronologies, a.k.a. Doomed Timelines (See Addendum XXXX-2 - Doomed Timelines guide for further details regarding Doomed Timelines, their classification, and how they are created). SCP-XXXX could not see into past events in these Doomed Timelines, and had no special ability to predict events within its native timeline beyond the application of inferential and deductive reasoning using information gathered from Doomed Timelines, though it seemed to have very little interest in applying these strategies itself, preferring to "See what happens."

It is presently unknown if SCP-XXXX's prophetic abilities was unique among its species.

Aion's Nadirs - An Informal Report into Doomed Timelines, as dilineated in erudite detail by SCP-XXXX
Written by Dr. Sylvia De la Rosa
The term "Doomed Timeline" is a grossly simplified classifcation for non-prime post-branch unattainable chronologies, sequences of events within a given chronology that cannot and will not come to pass. To put it simply, they are natural consequences of the Butterfly Effect.

There are infinite timelines, but only one that our subjectivities can percieve and traverse non-anomalously. That is the Prime Timeline (our timeline), and its future (our future) is in a constant state of flux, only settling into a stable form when a Future Point becomes the Present, which almost immediately becomes the Past. You already knew that, but it's important that I reiterate the point: the future is shaped by our decisions. On a temporophysical level, decisions affect the probability of future events occuring without the Prime Timeline.
If a decision that we make reduces the probability of a future event to 0%, a new timeline is created, one that contains a different decision with a different result, containing within its future trajectory the event which cannot occur in our timeline. This is a Doomed Timeline, and this is the realm into which SCP-XXXX sees.
