Special Containment Procedures: SCP-4XXX is to be kept in a standard locker at Site-██. Personnel wishing to use SCP-4XXX for psychiatric use are to obtain Level 3 or higher authorization, and return it within 24 hours. At least 50% of the mask must not be covered by SCP-4XXX-1 when it is returned, and any SCP-4XXX-1 not attached to SCP-4XXX is to be incinerated.

Description: SCP-4XXX is a tragedy mask like those used in Greek plays. When worn it conforms to the subject's face. When taken off it keeps the shape of the last face it was worn by until another subject wears it.

When a subject wearing SCP-4XXX comes into contact with another person in a depressed state, the person's depressive state is removed, and black particles form onto SCP-4XXX, designated SCP-4XXX-1. More of SCP-4XXX-1 form the stronger the depressive state is. SCP-4XXX-1 can be broken off with ease. When SCP-4XXX-1 comes into skin contact with any person, it dissolves into the person, who then undergoes a depressive state for 1 minute.

When SCP-4XXX is completely covered by SCP-4XXX-1, SCP-4XXX cannot be taken off, and the subject must absorb all of SCP-4XXX-1 on SCP-4XXX at once. They will undergo a moderate depressive state for 1 hour before being able to take SCP-4XXX off.

Addendum SCP-4XXX-1: SCP-4XXX was acquired by an agent after a mental hospital reported a teenager collecting what is now know as SCP-4XXX-1 on his face from hugging those suffering from depression. Class A Amnestics were administered to all personnel involved.
