Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be contained within a standard refrigerator that is set at a constant interior temperature of 2.5° C. SCP-XXXX should not be taken out of its containment cell without the permission of Dr. ███████. Personnel with lower than Level 2 access are not allowed to conduct any sort of experimentation with SCP-XXXX.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a conical glass, dubbed SCP-XXXX-1, filled with almond milk, dubbed SCP-XXXX-2, roughly 15 cm tall. If an attempt to empty SCP-XXXX-2 is made, the amount of SCP-XXXX-1 within the glass will refill itself to the top of the glass. The method that SCP-XXXX-1 uses to refill itself is still unknown. If an object is placed into SCP-XXXX, and all visual contact with the object is lost, the object will have disappeared. No trace of the object remains in SCP-XXXX after it has disappeared. Physical contact with the object does not affect this process, as the object will still disappear. In addition, the individual who maintained physical contact with the object will claim to feel no difference until looking back at SCP-XXXX, at which point the individual will no longer feel the object1. Indirect viewing of the object in SCP-XXXX such as mirrors or security cameras will count as visual contact, and the object within SCP-XXXX will remain2.
The physical properties of an object placed within SCP-XXXX-1 do not affect its volume in any discernible way, so long as the object can fit entirely within SCP-XXXX-13. If SCP-XXXX-1 is poured into another container, regardless of shape, it will retain all anomalous properties. The amount of SCP-XXX-1 will adapt to the new container, destroying or refilling itself as necessary to fill the new instance of SCP-XXXX-24.
SCP-XXXX was discovered on ██/██/████ after a routine Foundation grocery run. Dr. ███████ was on lunch break, and took SCP-XXXX and a pre-packaged lunch from a nearby refrigerator, including two Oreo™ cookies. After finishing his sandwich, he placed one Oreo™ cookie in SCP-XXXX to soak, at which point Dr. ██████ walked past him. Dr. ███████ turned to greet her, and upon looking back at SCP-XXXX, noticed that the Oreo™ cookie he had placed in SCP-XXXX was now gone. Dr. ███████ took another Oreo™ cookie, and held it in the milk. Soon after, a nearby microwave buzzer went off, and Dr. ███████ glanced towards the microwave. Upon looking back, he noticed that the Oreo™ cookie was gone, as well as approximately 0.75 centimeters of his index finger and thumb. Dr. ███████ stated that he felt the Oreo™ cookie in his hand until he looked back. Following this, Dr. ███████, reported the object as anomalous and was assigned to the SCP. Following this, he conducted several experiments with the help of Researcher ███. The following documents are experimentation logs written by Dr. ███████.
Experiment XXXX-a: Dr. ███████ placed a mirror on one of the walls within SCP-XXXX’s containment cell. Dr. ███████ focused on SCP-XXXX while Researcher ███ placed an Oreo™ cookie inside in SCP-XXXX. The Oreo™ cookie remained afloat in SCP-XXXX, and did not disappear until both Dr. ███████ and Researcher ███ diverted their gaze. Upon looking back, the Oreo™ cookie had disappeared.
Additional Notes: The fact that I can’t see what happens when the object disappears is certainly going to make figuring out what happens when the objects disappear a lot harder. Before writing this, I tried this again with a digital camera, and it had the same effect. It seems indirect viewing of any kind has the same outcome. What’s even more peculiar is that the object inside doesn’t disappear when you blink, like it would take too long for SCP-XXXX-1 to remove the item.
Experiment XXXX-b: Dr. ███████,with proper permissions, brought D-2889 to SCP-XXXX's containment cell and instructed him to place his finger into SCP-XXXX, then look away. Following this, Dr. ███████ looked away as well and asked D-2889 what he felt. D-2889 stated that his finger felt no different, and he reported feeling no different in any way. Following this, Dr. ███████ asked D-2889 to turn around and remove his finger from SCP-XXXX. Upon doing so, D-2889 was frightened to find that his finger was no longer present on his hand. Despite this, acted as if and later reported that he did not feel any pain. In addition to this, no blood loss was caused by the disappearance of D-2889’s finger.
Additional Notes: This only brings up more questions about what exactly SCP-XXXX does. D-2889 felt no pain while his finger was in SCP-XXXX, implying that his finger didn’t disappear. However, when he removed it and it was gone, he again stated that he felt no pain. Adding to this is the fact that there was no blood where the finger once stood. Did the milk somehow cauterize the wound? There were no signs of burns on the wound, and touching the outside of the glass reveals that it is, indeed, very cold. I’ll look into this further at a later date.
Experiment XXXX-c: Dr. ███████, using an action figure of the superhero ██████████, spread the figure's arms out and placed it within SCP-XXX in such a way that the arms would keep it from entirely entering SCP-XXXX. Strangely enough, at no point did SCP-XXXX rise as the figure was being placed within it, as if the figurine did not come into physical contact with SCP-XXXX at all. Upon looking away from the figurine and looking back, as expected, only the part of the figurine within SCP-XXXX had disappeared.
Additional Notes: This is an experiment that I conducted following a recommendation from Researcher ███. I didn’t think this experiment would go any other way, but he said it couldn’t hurt to try. Now at least I have a bit more information on how SCP-XXXX behaves.
Experiment XXXX-d: Dr. ███████ poured SCP-XXXX into a cup with a near-identical form and composition as the cup in which it was found. He continued pouring the liquid until the amount of SCP-XXXX-1 in both cups was roughly equal. Following this, the amount of SCP-XXXX-1 within both glasses slowly began to rise to the point where it originally was. The amount of SCP-XXXX-1 within the replica cup, however, did not refill itself. After placing pen caps in both glasses, looking away, and looking back, both pen caps had disappeared. After the amount of SCP-XXXX-1 within the replica glass had been poured back into the original glass, it displayed a similar response as in Experiment XXXX-c, in which the milk poured into the original did not seem to affect its physical properties.
Additional Notes: Yet again, more questions arise. Is SCP-XXXX-1 capable of making instances of SCP-XXXX-2 out of anything, or only replicas of the original SCP-XXXX-2? How does it come to the conclusion that it's inside a container? And does it have any limit on how much it can replicate itself? Further experimentation required, there's simply not enough data.
Addendum: Following an experiment that required that SCP-XXXX be removed from its containment cell, SCP-XXXX-1 was consumed by Researcher █████████, after which he complained of severe stomach pains and became increasingly hungry. After roughly 25 days, Researcher █████████ was found dead within his own home. The cause of death was determined to be starvation, and following an autopsy, it was confirmed that the instance of SCP-XXXX-1 had taken refuge within his stomach and had replicated itself, filling it entirely. Any food that Researcher █████████ ingested was destroyed by SCP-XXXX-1, and as such, blocked any sort of food from reaching his intestines and supplying the necessary nutrients. Due to the possibility of the liquid finding another vessel in which to fill itself, the body of Researcher █████████ was cremated, in order to test whether or not the liquid could be destroyed via evaporation. After the ceremony, it was confirmed that the liquid had been evaporated in the fire and no longer exhibited any extraordinary properties.
