Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is contained in a standard 10m x 10m x 5m chamber, embedded in a 2.5m³ body of dirt, surrounded by reinforced steel. The chamber is separated from the rest of the site with a moat, 2m wide, with an indoor passage to allow staff to enter the testing area. No further containment measures are required except in testing. SCP-XXXX is contained in a steel sphere filled with standard potting soil. The sphere is suspended in a tank of water, 5m x 5m x 10m, and held in the centre of the tank with a 5m chain. Water is to be filtered out at a constant 2.5L every hour. Should the filtering system fail, or the chain show signs of damage, maintenance is to be conducted promptly. Otherwise, routine maintenance takes place once every two months. Testing has been banned by Dr. S██████, and following his orders, SCP-XXXX is to remain in its current containment at all times.
Description: Most reports of SCP-XXXX describe it as a hairless, grey or red-skinned humanoid of undetermined height, showing signs of extreme decomposition. Other features that are commonly seen are hollow eye sockets, a large mouth, long arms and fingers, and an overall emaciated appearance despite its abnormal strength. SCP-XXXX, according to agents present at its recovery, has an overly large upper head, with long and thin cheeks. These claims however, along with the nature of SCP-XXXX's internal features, have not been confirmed.
SCP-XXXX spends most of its time beneath the soil, showing extreme aggression when removed. When submerged fully in soil, SCP-XXXX is able to deconstruct its body, and reconstruct itself almost instantaneously somewhere else in attached soil, as if teleporting. Through testing, it has been determined that SCP-XXXX is able to transport itself to bodies of soil attached to its current body by no less than 0.5cm² of dirt, clay or crushed gravel. It has also been determined that, while hunting prey, SCP-XXXX can travel through dirt at approximately 600km per hour while in its deconstructed state.
SCP-XXXX is a predator, and will kill and consume any small mammalian creature that stands directly on soil that it has access to. SCP-XXXX has been recorded hunting rabbits, hares, pigs, sheep, rodents, and humans, all weighing less than 60kg. It will, however, attempt to attack larger mammals, including humans, but this appears to be a way to ward them off, as apposed to an attempt to kill them. When a suitable mammal stands on soil attached SCP-XXXX current body, it will deconstruct itself and reconstruct within 2m of its prey. SCP-XXXX will then emerge from the ground by digging a large hole around its upper body, attempting to grab at its prey and drag them down.
SCP-XXXX has been able to make these holes in under 5 seconds of reconstruction. When prey has been dragged into the hole, SCP-XXXX will submerge itself in the soil, suffocating its victim. It will then eat the creatures body, occasional revealing its upper body while doing so. No part of any victims body has been found after it has been captured.
SCP-XXXX is able to dig through most solid materials, in addition to its ability to deconstruct and reconstruct itself in dirt, crushed gravel and clay. If it there is any other solid material obstructing its access, SCP-XXXX will reconstruct itself, above or below, until it has broken through the material and any amount of soil enters the gap, attaching the two bodies of soil. The following is a list of materials SCP-XXXX has dug through in testing, as well as the time it took for it to do so.
- Glass: Average time of 2.5 seconds
- Sedimentary rock: Average time of 7.9 seconds
- Aluminium: Average time of 10.81 seconds
- Iron: Average time of 16.5 seconds
- Reinforced Steel: Average time of 21.06 seconds
Each material listed was a wall, 5cm thick. Each experiment was repeated 3 times to find the average.
Note that SCP-XXXX will not attempt to travel through water or mud, or break a barrier separating it from water.
Addendum XXXX-1: Following the construction of its current containment chamber, countless requests from researchers have been made for SCP-XXXX to be reclassified to Euclid. Request approved by doctor S██████.
Addendum XXXX-2: After a containment breach on ██/██/20██, Dr. S██████ has temporarily disallowed all testing on SCP-XXXX. A secure testing facility, separate from Site-██, is currently under construction. SCP-XXXX will be transferred to this new containment facility via truck, at which point a new wave of testing will begin.
Addendum XXXX-4: SCP-XXXX was better contained where it was. I don't know who's idea it was to construct this facility, but it must be halted. It is a waste of resources and time, all for an SCP that we understand almost completely. SCP-XXXX is to be kept in its tank at all times until such a time when we are able to terminate it.
