SCP-XXXX when discovered near Two Harbors, MN

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be monitored by a member of research staff, reporting any movement’s to new areas.

A 1000 meter radius from SCP-XXXX is to be secured , with unauthorized humans to be redirected by personnel acting as Park Rangers, Law Enforcement, etc. If SCP-XXXX flys within 1000 meters of a populated area, drones with food or playing bird calls can be deployed to redirect SCP-XXXX back into a safe distance. Tranquilizers are also able to deployed, but only in cases were human lives are at risk.

Living and dead rodents are to be placed in SCP-XXXX’s territory, keeping it from wandering into population centers in search for prey.

Description: SCP-XXXX is an adult female Great Horned Owl, discovered and residing in Northern Minnesota. It has average features for Great Horned Owls, roughly 60cm in height and weighing 1,500 grams, and displays behavior normal to Great Horned Owls.

It’s anomalous effects are seen when a creature enters 125 meters of proximity, in which they will begin having difficulty moving further towards SCP-XXXX, with their body’s resisting large movements. The creatures also show signs of fear, exhibiting fight, flight or freeze reflexes that cause the creature to leave SCP-XXXX’s area of effect.

Humans entering SCP-XXXX’s area of effect reported feeling heavy feelings of discomfort and dread, but can continue up to 100 meters of SCP-XXXX before feeling physical effects. Within 50 meters of proximity, humans report becoming overwhelmed of heavy terror or fear, and become almost completely immobilized in the direction of SCP-XXXX. These symptoms continue until they leave the area of effect.

No creature has been recorded entering within 20 meters of SCP-XXXX, as by 50 meters most creatures have either fled or lost continuousness due to seizures, heart conditions, or fear.

Addendum: Discovery SCP-XXXX was brought to foundations attention when an article was published on the Lake County News Chronicle, detailing a number of heart attacks in the surrounding area. Foundation personnel traced these reports to SCP-XXXX, which had been living in an abandoned garage, and relocated it to largely uninhabited part of Northern Minnesota.
