Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: Two guards must be stationed inside the house at the epicenter of SCP-XXXX. See Addendum-A guidelines concerning guard duty. A discrete but efficient monitoring system has been installed inside the house that will alarm the Foundation should an intrusion occur. If any heavy-duty breaching equipment is detected, anomalous or not, neutralising intruders must be considered a high priority and any nearby task forces should be mobilised and stationed in SCP-XXXX vicinity until dismissed.
SCP-XXXX-1 and SCP-XXXX-2 must be kept in the dark about their anomalous properties, but are otherwise free to act as they please. Consult addendum-B for guidelines on interactions.
Two Foundation member will be assigned to run the SCP-XXXX-1 antiques shop everyday from 9 pm to 5 pm or as otherwise arranged with SCP-XXXX-1.
SCP-XXXX-3 must be protected from any breach attempt.
The T-Gap and the Radius are to be measured weekly. Any deviation from the predicted model exceeding 10% is to be reported immediatly to doctor — and measurement done each day until a new stable prediction model is established.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a temporal anomaly affecting three instances, designed as SCP-XXXX-1, SCP-XXXX-2 and SCP-XXXX-3. Through means unknown, they have been temporally displaced approximately two week in the past. In order to maintain clarity, the terminology of this document is as such:
-Alpha refer to the main timeline unaffected by the anomaly.
-Beta refers to the timeline containing the displaced instances.
-The T-gap refers to the temporal gap between Alpha and Beta.
-The Radius refers to the maximal distance where the Switch affects items and memories that did not directly interact with SCP-XXXX instances.
-The Switch refers to the phenomen where events are retroactively changed as Beta take over Alpha in the affected region.
SCP-XXXX-1 and SCP-XXXX-2 (SCP-XXXX-1/2 if statement can apply to either interchangeably), respectively named Jonathan and Emily are a Caucasian couple aged around 25 years old. Apart from being temporally displaced, they display no anomalous properties. They are aware that something is wrong, as all interactions with the outside world are extremely difficult for them, but do know what is the source of the problem.
SCP-XXXX-3 is a reinforced steel door leading to the basement that exists only in Beta. In Alpha, the basement door is made of wood and does not even possess a lock. No serious attempts to open SCP-XXXX-3 have been made yet. Considering the door is different in Beta, there is a high chance that an anomaly is contained in the basement of Beta. See addendum-C for explanation on why breaching SCP-XXXX-3 is considered too dangerous at the moment.
Subjects entering the house will be able to perceive neither SCP-XXXX-1 or SCP-XXXX-2. After time equal to the T-gap passes, the Switch will occur and memories will change from the Alpha timeline to the Beta timeline. The subject will normally remember having interacted with either SCP-XXXX-1 or SCP-XXXX-2 if SCP-XXXX-1 would have been running the antiques shop. SCP-XXXX-1/2 are relatively cordial, but are still annoyed by sudden guests. Subject's itinerary between Alpha and Beta do not change significantly, except if subject goes to the basement. Alpha's basement is completely unremarkable, even a little bare. After the Switch however, the subject will remember trying to open SCP-XXXX-3 to no avail, while SCP-XXXX-1/2 if present try their best to prevent subject from opening the door. The intensity of the struggle between subject and SCP-XXXX-1/2 seems to depend entirely on the determination of subject to enter basement. If subject is disinteressed from going into the basement, confrontation is verbal, SCP-XXXX-1/2 pleading the subject not to go while the subject continually express interest to open the door. If subject is determined to open SCP-XXXX-3, SCP-XXXX-1/2 are ready to physically restrain to the best of their abilities. They do not present a significant level of threat, but their determination and perseverance should be noted. They do not seem to be willing to resort to lethal violence, but after attempt #8 to investigate the basement, all investigation into SCP-XXXX-3 have been suspended until further notice, so it is not clear they wouldn't kill if pushed to. SCP-XXXX-1/2 insist on the danger contained by SCP-XXXX-3 but do not know the origin and are extremely evasive when interrogated. Dr X claim that they are not hiding the truth, but that their knowledge of the danger seems more intuitive, as if programmed or if the memory is repressed. Request to send an antimemetics expert in order to extract memory is pending approval.
While objects seem to follow the Switch very precisely, memories seem to switch in concrete blocks. There are no memory where a subject remember only half a conversation made with SCP-XXXX-1/2. Subjects never remember seeing SCP-XXXX-1/2 disappear suddenly. Frequently, subjects remember talking with SCP-XXXX-1/2 and they described SCP-XXXX-1/2 as being absent the moment after. Subjects trying to remember events near the Switch will often suffer headaches, growing in intensity the longer they focus on the Switch up to what is described as a light migraine. It is difficult to distinguish if this is because of imperfect memory, if the subject's temporal sink is interfering with the Switch, or if it is due to another factor.
Any physical change, such as a wound, a haircut or a tattoo on the subject's body that happened in Beta will appear in Alpha after the Switch if the change's duration is greater than T-gap. Making a physical change in Beta can be done either by SCP-XXXX-1/2 or by someone who have been ordered to inflict the change on the subject upon seeing SCP-XXXX-1/2. When recorded outside the Radius, the physical change happens instantly. The duration of the Switch is shorter than what can be physically recorded at the moment. In frame-1 before the Switch the physical change is absent and in frame-0 of the Switch the change appears. It is the same for objects that have been marked in Beta and viewed outside the Radius. Trying to record the Switch inside the Radius is pointless as all memories and records will Switch to Beta and not remember the physical change did not occur in Alpha.
