Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid Safe

Special Containment Procedures:
SCP-XXXX is currently contained by the censoring of the content of SCP-XXXX-1 from all human subjects who can read and understand the English language.

There are two methods for SCP-XXXX to breach its containment:

  1. When a human subject reads and understands the uncensored contents of SCP-XXXX-1.
  2. When a human subject communicates with an instance of SCP-XXXX-2.

If instances of non-quarantined SCP-XXXX-2 is discovered an immediate response from armed security officers is required. All instances of non-quarantined SCP-XXXX-2 must be gagged or rendered unable to speak immediately. If this cannot be achieved termination is permitted before they can communicate with any human individuals. All personnel that have communicated with an instance of non-quarantined SCP-XXXX-2 are also to be considered as an instance of SCP-XXXX-2 and should be dealt with accordingly.

At the time of writing the number of known instances of SCP-XXXX-2 is zero. So the censoring of SCP-XXXX-1 guarantees the containment of SCP-XXXX.

SCP-XXXX-1 is to be kept in a high-security locker that is electronically monitored with a live video feed. No one is to be allowed access to SCP-XXXX-1 without a level 4 security clearance. No one is allowed to reproduce SCP-XXXX-1 in any form, including but not limited to photographs, photocopies, audio/video recordings and transcriptions.

When performing experiments involving SCP-XXXX-1 and SCP-XXXX-2 all research personnel are to wear industrial-grade noise-cancelling ear plugs. If at any point SCP-XXXX-2 attempts to visually communicate with foundation staff they are to be terminated without warning.

Description: SCP-XXXX is an old parchment paper approximately 450mm by 300mm. On one side of the paper there is a short essay written in English titled ████ ███ ████ ██ ███████.
(Note: Previous understanding of SCP-XXXX was incorrect. See Incident-XXXX-2)

SCP-XXXX is an idea explained in an essay written on an old parchment paper approximately 450mm by 300mm. This essay and paper has been designated SCP-XXXX-1. The paper has a light yellow tinge due to its age. Testing has shown the paper's material and the ink is nothing out of the ordinary with a paperweight is approximately 60 gsm. The origin of SCP-XXXX-1 is unknown, although the microscopic analysis of the ink show it was hand-written around 200 years ago.

Once a human subject has read and understood the contents of SCP-XXXX-1, SCP-XXXX will manifest. This individual will be designated as an instance of SCP-XXXX-2.

The symptoms of the manifestation of SCP-XXXX in a human subject differ greatly between individuals. However one common characteristic is the gradual development of psychosis, delusion and dementia. Most SCP-XXXX-2s also develop the belief that they possess supernatural abilities and in some cases believed they were ██ ████ being contained by the foundation. SCP-XXXX-2s have also shown a tendency to cause self-harm and ████-████████. (See Incident-XXXX-1)

These symptoms can be observed as quickly as within minutes or as slowly as months or years. The speed seems to depend on the individual's mental fortitude and ██████ █████.

Vivisection has shown that SCP-XXXX-2 does not differ physiologically from a healthy human. This is evidence that SCP-XXXX only affects the subject psychologically.

SCP-XXXX-2s are capable of communicating the content of SCP-XXXX-1 with other human individuals that they come in to contact with and thus capable of spreading SPC-XXXX. This makes all instances of SCP-XXXX-2 'infectious' and SCP-XXXX 'contagious'.

Non-human animal subjects are not affected by SCP-XXXX-1 or SCP-XXXX-2 because communication of complex ideas is impossible. Human subjects with the ability to read and understand English are prone to SCP-XXXX. All human subjects are prone to the effects of SCP-XXXX regardless what language the subject speaks as long as the idea is understood. Computer simulations show that SCP-XXXX can spread exponentially when a single instance of SCP-XXXX-2 is release into society. This phenomenon is comparable to a contagious viral infection.

Because of this, all instances of SCP-XXXX-2 must either be quarantined or terminated. Quarantined SCP-XXXX-2s have shown that it's possible to be 'cured' from SCP-XXXX with a drug-induced amnesia using █████. However test results are inconclusive whether this method guarantees the erasure of SCP-XXXX from SCP-XXXX-2's memory and sub-conscious.

At the time of writing surviving SCP-XXXX-2s have all developed some form of delusional psychosis and have attempted self-amputation to ██████ █████ and ██████.
As of 2018-10-██ all instances of SCP-XXXX-2 have been terminated on the request of Dr. █████ citing the potential risk of a large scale containment breach.

The content of SCP-XXXX-1 cannot be shown or explained in detail as this is crucial to the containment of SCP-XXXX.

On ████-██-██ Class-D personnel ███ (from now on referred as XXXX-1) has accepted and been approved to conduct a test on SCP-XXXX. A containment cell was setup for the experiment. Upon entering the containment cell XXXX-1 was instructed to read the essay and remain in the cell for a series of interviews. XXXX-1 announced that she has finished reading after four minutes.

The experiment lasted a total of sixteen (16) minutes. In that time 2 interviews were conducted via video. The experiment concluded with the termination of XXXX-1.

On ████-██-██ Class-D personnel █████ (from now on referred as XXXX-2) has accepted and been approved to conduct a test on SCP-XXXX. A containment cell was setup for the experiment. Upon entering the containment cell XXXX-2 was instructed to read the essay and remain in the cell for a series of interviews. XXXX-2 announced that he has finished reading after six minutes.

The experiment lasted a total of sixty-eight (68) hours. In that time 5 interviews were conducted via video. The experiment concluded with the death of lead researcher Dr. Wynn.

Please note: Dr. Wynn was discovered deceased in his research lab sixty-eight (68) hours into the experiment. Cause of death was suicide by ████████. XXXX-2 has been removed from the containment cell and detained in site-██ under full surveillance until further notice.
This incident has proved to foundation researchers that SCP-XXXX does not manifest via the paper or the essay but via communication of the idea contained in the essay. Dr. Wynn's long exposure to non-quarantined instances of SCP-XXXX-2 has led to the containment breach of SPC-XXXX. Audio logs from the interviews have been censored in accordance to the containment procedure.
