Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX's entrance is to be disguised as a research post, two (2) armed guards patrolling the place. Access to SCP-XXXX is forbidden without an MTF team and three (3) D-Class

Description: SCP-XXXX is a space time anomaly existing within a body of water located in ███ █████████ ███████. The body of water first came to foundation attention after Dr. ██████, who was on a trip trying to help re-contain SCP-████, found it. SCP-XXXX's anomaly is portal that leads into a cave. This cave takes 7 minutes to traverse and leads to a vast desert. A town can be seen eleven (11) meters away, and moves closer every subject that is [DATA EXPUNGED].

The town, named Bull's Gate, is composed of a prison, a saloon, a general store, a well in the center, a town hall, a stable, a school, and a giant clock all surrounded by wooden fencing. Leaving the town through the entrance you came in yields no negative results. Attempting to leave the town through the back entrance results in a cowboy running up to you and telling you about how leaving is a death sentence.

Breaking away from the cowboy and running past the borders regardless results in tendrils of flesh grabbing you and pulling you into the sand. Based on observations by D-Class, the tendrils are only visible if you're outside of the town's borders, with the appearance of sinking into the sand from people in the town.

The inhabitants speak of a neighboring town named Rock Tusk, which has been harassing them for years. However, flights via unmanned drone have revealed absolutely nothing besides open desert beyond the town's borders. Despite there being thing but sand beyond the border, every three days. a Showdown Event will occur. (See Addendum XXXX.2)

Despite Rock Tusk not being a location that's able to be seen, two people who claim to be from Rock Tusk, labelled -10 and -11, enter the town every night while there is an outsider present in the town. They will wake them up in the middle of the night and tell them about how the people living in Bull's Gate are cannibals and that's why they don't want you to leave. As there is no Rock Tusk town, they are to be treated as inhabitants of Bull's Gate.

Bull's gate is inhabited by 11 people.

SCP-XXXX-1 is a friendly Caucasian male who proclaims himself to be the mayor of the town. He wears a brown vest over a red shirt with grey pants.

SCP-XXXX-2 is a Caucasian male who runs the saloon. He's very irritable. He wears a grey shirt, brown pants, and red pads on his knees.

SCP-XXXX-3 is a Caucasian male who is the owner of the general store next to the saloon, which he runs with his wife. He wears an apron over his brown shirt and grey pants.

SCP-XXXX-4 is a Caucasian female who is the wife of the general store's owner. She wears a large grey dress.

SCP-XXXX-5 claims to be the mayor's wife. She refers to the mayor by pet names such as lovey and sweetie. She wears a large frilly pink dress and carries a hand fan.

SCP-XXXX-6 is a homeless Caucasian male who has a small tent made of garbage near the saloon. He wears tattered rags.

SCP-XXXX-7 refers to a group of three (3) schoolchildren who are always seen together. They all look alike and wear the same outfit, a blue pair of pants and a red shirt.

SCP-XXXX-8 is a Caucasian female school teacher who teaches SCP-XXXX-7 during school hours. This teacher wears a green skirt and red shirt.

SCP-XXXX-9 is a male cowboy who is often seen at the saloon. He wears a cowhide vest with a denim jacket, jeans, and boots with spurs.

SCP-XXXX-10 is a male child who enters the town at night to tell you about Rock Tusk. He wears rags.

SCP-XXXX-11 is a female child who enters the town at night to tell you about Rock Tusk. She wears rags.

Addendum XXXX.1: Discovery

SCP-XXXX was discovered by Dr. ██████ after noting a distinct purple glow at the bottom of a body of water. Thinking it had to relate with SCP-████, she sent some D-Class down to investigate. Only one of the D-Class returned two days later, visibly scared. Once SCP-████ was re-contained, Dr. ██████ reported the body of water that SCP-XXXX was contained in. Before any research was done on it, an interview was conducted with the traumatized D-Class 3 days after he resurfaced.

Foreword: This interview was conducted to find out about the nature of SCP-XXXX.

Dr. ██████: So, what happened when you went to that purple glow?

D-4675: I… it was terrible… it… it might take me a bit to explain it all…

Dr. ██████: That's okay, we have all the time we need.

D-4675: So… (Subject sighs) do you know what the phobia of quicksand is? I have that, along with the phobia of deserts. Judging by how shaken up I am, take a wild fuckin' guess as to what was in that portal!

Dr. ██████: So it lead to a desert? What else was there?

D-4675: Well… once I was done with my panic attack, we went forward. There was a town in the distance.

Dr. ██████: What was in the town?

D-4675: Let's see… there was a prison, a saloon, a store.. and a town hall. There were some other buildings, but we didn't know what their function was.

Dr. ██████: Anything else?

D-4675: When we first entered the town, someone, I assume the mayor, told us to not leave the town through the backside.

Dr. ██████: Why's that?

D-4675: He told us that it's punishable by execution, and it's dangerous. Said there was a lot of quicksand out there.

Dr. ██████: What happened to the other D-Class we sent with you?

D-4675: He sunk into the sand. Strange thing is though, he was yelling about tendrils of flesh while sinking.

Dr. ██████: Did you try to help him?

D-4675: The cowboy told me to stop when I tried. He said it was too late, and I should give up.

Dr. ██████: Interesting, anything else of note?

D-4675: Well, after that exchange, it was getting dark. Strange though, it seemed like I'd only been there for like, around one hour. It was high noon as well. Y'know, it's kinda strange to think about how-

Dr. ██████: You decided to stay the night…

D-4675: Oh, yeah! Sorry. Anyway, once I fell asleep, I was woken up in the middle of the night by these two children.

Dr. ██████: Children?

D-4675: Yeah, they just wore some rags.

Dr. ██████: Strange, but what did they do?

D-4675: They told me about a neighboring town, Rock Tusk.

Dr. ██████: Rock Tusk?

D-4675: Yeah. They said that they were from Rock Tusk and that Bull's Gate, the town I was in, was made up of cannibals, and they wanted to eat me. They said that the quicksand was deactivated during the night, so I needed to follow them. Now… something felt off about the two, so when day came, I booked it out of there.

Dr. ██████: Alright, anything else?

D-4675: One last thing, there was a strange noise from what sounded to be underneath the town.

Dr. ██████: Can you describe it?

D-4675: It sounded all squicky and fleshy, if that makes any sense…

Dr. ██████: It's good enough. Thank you.

D-4675: Y'know doc, I wouldn't recommend sending people down there… something just… it just seems wrong…

Dr. ██████: Can you elaborate?

D-4675: I really can't, it's just a gut feeling. But I think there's something up with that town.

Addendum XXXX.2: Showdown Events

+ SCP-XXXX Showdown Events

Showdown events are events that occur every three days when the sun is at its highest point. When this condition is met, SCP-XXXX-1 will force everyone inside the saloon and send SCP-XXXX-9 outside. Once SCP-XXXX-9 is outside, a cowboy will manifest near the town and begin walking towards the town. Unmanned drones have revealed that the cowboy will never manifest in the range of the camera, always outside it. Once the cowboy reaches the town, SCP-XXXX-9 will speak to the cowboy. What SCP-XXXX says determines how the Showdown Event will transpire, but will ultimately end up the same. Interestingly, the state of SCP-XXXX-9 doesn't matter. Even if he's heavily wounded, he'll be perfectly healthy when he exits the saloon. Additionally, the subjects are noted to be [DATA EXPUNGED] sent inside. If an outsider is present during a showdown event, he is not allowed to leave the saloon until the showdown event is finished.

"Another shit stain from Rock Tusk? Well, I got the perfect cure."	Subject is shot and fatally wounded before getting inside the town.
"Three… two… one… draw!"	Subject will make it inside the town, shoot at SCP-XXXX-9, miss, then get shot.
"Hey! If you value your life, you'd get away from here! I mean it! I'd even shoot the pope, not that he'd come here anyway!"	Subject is shot six times in the chest, twice in the neck, and four times in the head, killing him instantly.

Once the subject is shot, SCP-XXXX-9 will walk up to the corpse and [DATA EXPUNGED] well.

Mission Abstract: To attempt to communicate with the townspeople of SCP-XXXX

U-90 1: Are mics on?

U-90 2-5 simultaneously: Check.

U-90 1: Command, can you hear us?

Command: Confirmed, are all agents at the insertion site?

U-90 1: Yeah.

Command: Alright, proceed with insertion. Do not fire unless attacked, we were told that the inhabitants were friendly at first.

U-90 1-5: Understood.

MTF U-90 enters the body of water that houses SCP-XXXX, after the portal was entered, they were ejected from the cave, as expected.

U-90 2: Hey, do you guys notice anything… odd?

U-90 5: Yeah… we're dry, not a single drop of water on us. Strange.

U-90 1: Wait, where's U-90 4?

U-90 4: Sorry I'm late, had suit issues in the water.

U-90 3: Understood.

Command: Alright, exit the cave and report what you see.

The five MTF agents take seven minutes to exit the cave and end up at the foot of a desert. The town gate to SCP-XXXX is nearby, around 20 meters away

U-90 2: I see a town gate surrounded by a vast desert, a few cacti, and some cow skulls. Can you confirm the same?

U-90 1, 3, 4, 5 at once: Confirmed.

Command: Confirmed. Head towards the town, attempt to speak to the inhabitants.

U-90 1-5: Okay.

The five members begin walking towards the town

U-90 3: Why do you always see cow skulls in the desert?

U-90 5: I know! It's always the skull! You never see the body, did that just go, like, die somewhere else?

U-90 2: I remember reading something about that. I can't remember the exact wording, but people moved herds of cattle through the desert… umm… and when they were out of food… oh yeah! And when they were out of food, they would chop off a cow's head and feed the body to the rest of the cows.

U-90 4: What? I thought that cows were kinda like chickens. Y'know, like, if you cut off their head, they'd run around for a bit. So I thought that people would kill a cow and the head would be dumped here or something.

U-90 5: (laughing) Wait, you're serious? 1, what's your opinion on this?

U-90 1: Need I remind you that we're here to contain an anomaly, not to wonder why cow skulls are in the desert!?

U-90 2: (Muttering) _buzzkill

U-90 4: Lighten up 1, the D boys said that only the cowboys were dangerous.

U-90 3: We're here.

U-90 1: We have reached the town's gate, can you confirm?

Command: Confirmed, can 2-5 confirm?

U-90 2-5: Confirmed.

U-90 4: Also, we have eyes. You don't have to have us confirm every little thing.

U-90 1: It's a safety precaution.

Command: Now, if we're done bickering, enter the town.

Upon the five members entering the town, they were greeted by the mayor.

SCP-XXXX-1: Well, howdy! Welcome to the town of Bull's Gate, the name don't mean anything now. It's just a name. My name is Mayor, yours?

U-90 1: Howdy, I'm 1, these are my friends 2, 3, 4, and 5.

SCP-XXXX-1: Nice to meet cha!

SCP-XXXX-1 walks up to the MTF members and hands each of them a slip of white paper that reads "Good for 3 pints!" and features a rubber hose cartoon style of Mayor holding two mugs of ale. Mayor has a speech bubble over his head that reads "Git some ale!"

SCP-XXXX-1: You should get some ale at the saloon! Bartender serves the best ale I've ever tasted!

U-90 3: We'll be sure to do just that.

Command: Once you've come back and the ale is tested that is.

U-90 1: Alright, let's go get that ale.

U-90 4: Okay.

The members walk around the town, find the saloon, and enter it. They are greeted by the SCP-XXXX-2 and SCP-XXXX-9.

SCP-XXXX-9: Howdy, how are you on this fine day?

U-90 3: Howdy. We're doing quite alright, yourself?

SCP-XXXX-9: Could be better, disposed of a jack-off from Rock Tusk the other day. That… quicksand… does wonders lemme tell ya.

U-90 1: Quicksand?

SCP-XXXX-9: Yeah. I don't know if Mayor told ya or not, but there's a ton of quicksand outside the town's back borders. I'm not really sure why it's there… but who'd complain about a chance to take out their enemies?

U-90 3: I guess. (Turns towards SCP-XXXX-2) We'd all like the ale please.

SCP-XXXX-2: Okay.

SCP-XXXX-2 snaps and the video cuts to static for three seconds. When the video returns, mugs of ale are on the table in front of the MTF.

U-90 4: Thank you good sir.

SCP-XXXX-2: Don't mention it, it's my job after all.

Three minutes of silence pass.

U-90 1: So, how many people are there in this town?

SCP-XXXX-9: Twelve. There's me, the mayor, the bartender, three children, the teacher, that homeless guy behind the saloon, the mayor's wife, the clerk, and his wife.

Suddenly, SCP-XXXX-1 runs into the casino, looking worried.

SCP-XXXX-1: A fella from Rock Tusk is coming! Everyone hide!

Suddenly, every member of the town entered the saloon and SCP-XXXX-9 leaves the building. The voice of SCP-XXXX-9 is heard outside.

SCP-XXXX-9: Another shit stain from Rock Tusk? Well, I got the perfect cure!

After SCP-XXXX-9 is done speaking, a gunshot is heard. Five minutes after the gunshots cease, a sound akin to something being dragged on sand is heard. Ten minutes later, soft and wet noises are heard from below, similar to that of flesh being ripped apart. After the noises cease, SCP-XXXX-9 walks back in the saloon, then everyone cheers for him.

SCP-XXXX-1: Three cheers for our hero!

SCP-XXXX-9: Aw shucks. It was nothing.

Command: Upsilon 90, leave the town, we have new objectives for you.

U-90 1-5: Understood.

As MTF U-90 begin to leave the town, they are stopped by the mayor.

SCP-XXXX-1: Where ya going?

U-90 1: We're going back home.

SCP-XXXX-1: Well, come on back now. Ya hear?!

U-90 1: We will, don't worry.

Everyone was silent until they reached the town, where they were greeted by SCP-XXXX-1.

SCP-XXXX-1: Welcome back to Bull's Gate! I see that you've brought a friend along! Great! The more the merrier! Well, since there's a new guy, I have to tell ya something. Don't go beyond the town's borders, it's illegal.

D-542331: What's beyond there?

SCP-XXXX-1: A town that's been harassing us for years, Rock Tusk. Besides, there's a giant pit of quicksand by the back exit anyway.

D-542331: Alright.

SCP-XXXX-1 walks away.

Command: Tell D-542331 to run into the supposed quicksand.

U-90 1: D-542331, ignore what he said and run past the back entrance.

D-542331 did as instructed, and was stopped by the cowboy.

SCP-XXXX-9: Hey, didn't you hear what Mayor said? Going past the back borders is illegal. You'll die anyway.

D-542331 breaks away from the cowboy, and runs for 30 seconds before starting to scream.

D-542331: What the hell is this?! There's fuckin' flesh everywhere! Get it off of me! Help!

When U-90 1 attempted to save the D-Class, he was stopped by SCP-XXXX-9.

SCP-XXXX-9: Leave him, he's broken the law. This is what happens to those who do wrong.

D-542331: WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?! I JUST D-

D-542331's audio and video were cut off once his head passed below the sand.

U-90 1: Anything from the D-Class's feed?

Command: It's cut out. We'll have to try again.

SCP-XXXX-9: What do you mean, try again?

U-90 1: It's nothing.

SCP-XXXX-9: What do you mean nothing? If you forced him to go past the borders, there will be worse consequences then getting stuck in quicksand…

U-90 3: Is that a threat?

SCP-XXXX-9: A warning. We keep you from going out for a reason, to keep you safe.

U-90 1: Understood.

The MTF team then started to leave the town. As they reached the town's entrance, SCP-XXXX-1 greeted them.

SCP-XXXX-1: Come on back now. Ya hear?!

The MTF wave to him and leave the town, walking towards the cave.

Command: Does your mic work?

D-432198: Just fine, so I have to go into this portal?

Command: Correct.

D-432198 nods and hops into the water, going through the portal. Once he exits the cave that is entered, he takes a look at the desert leading to the town.

D-432198: It's beautiful, in a unique way. Do I go to the town now?

Command: Affirmative, proceed with caution.

D-432198 walks to the town, silent the entire time. When D-432198 arrives, he is greeted by SCP-XXXX-1.

SCP-XXXX-1: Howdy sir, welcome to Bull's Gate. A bit of advice for ya, don't go out the back entrance. Just don't, there's nothing but quicksand out there. We're trying to protect you.

SCP-XXXX-1 smiles and hands D-432198 the slip of paper that is given to outsiders.

SCP-XXXX-1: Saloon's over there if you want to cash it in. I gotta get back to the wife. The man laughs and leaves.

D-432198: So what's my mission here?

Command: Just stay in the town, stay the night.

D-432198 nods and walks into the general store and is greeted by SCP-XXXX-3 and SCP-XXXX-4
