Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is contained in a soundproof, 15cm-cubed metal case. During maintenance, all foundation staff are required to wear noise-cancelling earmuffs around SCP-XXXX. Under no circumstances are staff allowed to activate the music box unless given explicit written permission for testing purposes.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a music box made of polished oak wood with a carved, black-and-white toy sheep centerpiece. When activated, SCP-XXXX plays music that, when heard, places all afflicted subjects in a state of somnolence. SCP-XXXX is capable of metamorphosis between two physical states, as proven by events on ██/██/████.
Addendum: On ██/██/████, SCP-XXXX began to undergo inexplicable physical metamorphosis, having been given no known stimuli and shown no prior anomalous behavior. The wool on the body of the SCP began decomposition and shrank toward a single point on the floor. Approximately 10 seconds after the activation of the metamorphosis a music box formed where the body mass of the sheep was displaced.
Interview 2:
Interviewed: Tara Lambert
Interviewer: Senior Researcher Walter Farrell

Dr. Farrell: Last time we met, you told us the possible locations of where your son, SCP-XXXX was going. We have laid traps at the predicted location and have successfully captured the SCP. I’m here to extend my thanks.
Tara: I want to see him. I want to see my son.
Dr. Farrell: Tell us what you know first and we could talk about that later. Not long after we captured the SCP, it changed to a music box. We are trying to help him and it would be much easier with your cooperation. I think it is time for you to tell us the details of what happened to your son.
Tara: Then I see him?
Dr. Farrell: Then we can have a conversation about it.
Tara: My son always had a hard time sleeping. When I took him to the doctor, they diagnosed him with fatal familial insomnia. There are no treatments for this condition.
Dr. Farrell: What does this have to do with the sheep, or music box you mentioned in the last interview?
Tara: …
Dr. Farrell: And sorry about your son, naturally.
Tara: Whenever he couldn’t sleep, I told him to count sheep. On good nights, he can get a few hours. And on bad ones, he could spend the whole night counting sheep. I gave him a music box on his birthday as a gift hoping the music would help him relax.
[a brief lull in the conversation]
Tara: After he passed away, I stopped sleeping too. It wasn’t genetics or an illness or anything, I was just sad. The music box was the only thing I had left of him, and whenever I had trouble drifting off, I kept it by my nightstand.
Dr. Farrell: What happened after that?
Tara: One night when I couldn’t sleep, the music box started to play music by itself. The toy sheep was looking at me when I felt a wave of drowsiness. I slept for the first time since my son was gone. When I woke up, the music box was gone and the front door was wide open. My son always loved going on adventures, but never could after being diagnosed with his condition. When I saw the sheep on the videos traversing the land, I knew it had to be him.
Dr. Farrell: I see… Thank you for your time Ms. Lambert, I am sure this information will be very helpful to the foundation.
[Dr. Farrell attempts to leave]
Tara: What about my son? I want my music box back. You said we are talking about this after I told you what I know.
Dr. Farrell: You can visit him right now, but we cannot let you take him back. I am sorry to tell you, but the SCP is much safer in the hands of the foundation.
Tara: This isn’t what I agreed to. I want my son back.
Dr. Farrell: My apologies Ms. Lambert but this is the best we can do for now. Maybe we can come up with a more permanent agreement later.

Containment Breach:
On ██/██/████, SCP-XXXX was played to three D-class personnel in one room. This was to test out the effect the music box had on multiple subjects at once. Almost immediately after the music started, all of the D-classes were put to a state of somnolence. The music stopped approximately 5 minutes after the initial wind-up. Before the testing was concluded, the Box closed by itself. Wool started to grow out of the surface of the box at a rapid pace. Limbs and the head of the sheep started to develop from the wool and in approximately 2 minutes, the sheep was fully developed. The entire site was in a state of somnolence after the sheep began to form.
Security camera footage revealed the SCP walking out of the site. All doors in the way of SCP-XXXX inexplicably open when the sheep is within a 5-meter radius. The SCP meandered around the hallways of the facility, testing multiple doors until it breached the outer doors of the facility. After approximately one hour after the SCP escaped, the foundation staff started to regain consciousness and mobilized a team to track down SCP-XXXX and to begin re-containment procedures. The team followed a set of footprints it initially believed to be of SCP-XXXX until the footprints disappeared in an area inconsistent with the sheep’s migration patterns as established by the foundation.

Dr. Farrell: It seems your son is smarter than he looked, after following his tracks for a few days, we lost him completely. These are his last possible locations, do you have any ideas where your son might go?
Tara: I don't see any reason to help you.
Dr. Farrell: If you agree to cooperate, we might be able to come up with a more permanent arrangement when it comes to your son.
Tara: You said the same things last time.
Dr. Farrell: Ms. Lambert…
Tara: No, I am not going to work with you.
[Dr. Farrell takes off his glasses and rubs the corners of his eyes.]
Dr. Farrell: We will capture your son with or without your help. We can also get the necessary information from you if we need to. Under the circumstances, I recommend that you cooperate.
[Tara seems to be in thought.]
Dr. Farrell: Tara, I’m trying to help you here. Do you know how painful and humiliating it is to be injected with truth serum?
Tara: There is a place called ████, it is close to a mountain, and a waterfall he liked to go to. I used to bring him here all the time, he hated leaving the waterfall. This is probably where he is going next.

Reclamation Operation:
On ██/██/████, a squad of Foundation agents were sent to the ████ near ████ to prepare the traps for SCP-XXXX. However, after several hours of surveillance, the SCP did not travel to the predicted location.

Dr. Farrell: Your son didn’t show up.
Tara: Of course he didn’t.
Dr. Farrell: Tara, why did you lie to us?
Tara: You lied to me first, you were never going to let me be with my son.
Dr. Farrell: Where is he going?
Tara: …
Dr. Farrell: This is a very dangerous SCP, he could cause the death of many people if you don’t work with us. Tell me where he is going.
Tara: I think we both know where he is going.
Dr. Farrell: Where?
Tara: A son always comes home to his mother.
