Special Containment Procedures:
SCP-5000 is to be kept in a secure air tight chamber. Personnel are not to interact with SCP 5000 unless given special research permission. Otherwise the air in SCP-5000 containment cell should be filtered on a daily basis.
Description:
[1] SCP-5000 was a glass jar filled with nail clippings before it became an unidentified white liquid. The cap of the jar has holes poked into it that allow SCP-5000 to release a gas that when interacting with any living thing causes keratin to grow at an alarming rate creating spikes of keratin and nails that sprout out of the body uncontrollably over a period of 24 hours, ripping up the body and causing immense pain that test subjects compared to “having thick needles and shards of bone tearing through your muscles like bullets”. After the 24 hour period the humans body will be consumed by the keratin leaving nothing but a seemingly indestructible ball of keratin 3 feet in diameter covered in small spikes. Further testing is required to determine the strength of the ball and possible uses of the ball.
[2] After one week of a ball being left untouched it becomes smooth. One week after smoothing the ball will hardened to the point where the red hot irons could not scratch it and then it will crack open revealing SCP-5000-1
[3] SCP-5000-1 is an exact replica of the creature that originally turned into the ball but the color white and with the same properties of the hardened ball. All SCP-5000-1 seem to be connected through a hive mind that protects the jar from anyone getting near it. Any of these creatures that are human replicas show no signs of intelligence or memories of their past lives.
[4] SCP-5000 was first located in the center of the ashes of a burned down hospital located at ██████, Arizona. Local newspapers reported that residents of the surrounding area smelt a foul smelling gas and many of them reported feeling, “Itchy. It’s as if I’ve been bitten by a mosquito.” these residents later recovered with many of them experiencing faster hair growth and drier skin.
[5] During testing the abnormal ball of keratin is seemingly unaffected by bullets, explosives, and damage done by [DATA REDACTED]. The ball is able to be carved and cut with a red hot piece of metal into various objects such as armor plating and blunt weapons. The strong keratin, now called Fortis Keratin, might have some use in the containment of non heat related SCP’s and safety gear.
