Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX Is not capable of containment, the current cause of SCP-XXXX is unknown which makes it relatively unpredictable, it has been however recorded mostly in colder climates, it is unclear if that is coincidental or an emerging pattern.
Monitoring stations are to be set up at various points across the globe watching for signs of SCP-XXXX which then report to a specialized evacuation task force, disguised as National Guard, responsible for the securing and safety of civilians during the appearance of SCP-XXXX.
Civilians in the area of SCP-XXXX are to be evacuated under the guise of Homeland security's response to a nearby chemical leak from a local plant or derailed train car, deaths and the destruction of flora/fauna due to SCP-XXXX are to be attributed to the same cause.
Research has shown full body environmental hazard suits and military grade gas masks as adequate protection against SCP-XXXX. Research has also shown SCP-1948 to be an effective counter measure for generating dismissive wind currents.
Description: A relatively rare meteorological phenomena, to which the cause is unclear. Instances of SCP-XXXX consist of A thick rolling fog composed of A previously unknown substance similar in structure to Lye (Sodium hydroxide,) which spreads over a large area usually covering 4-5sq mi and lasts 5-10 hours on average. Organic material within the fog begins to decompose at a hyperactive rate, relative to the speed in which lye already decomposes organic material.
The appearance of SCP-XXXX is inconsistent with local or global weather patterns, seemingly appearing at random locations across the world, approximately 1-2 days before an instance of SCP-XXXX appears the surrounding area's humidity levels drop by 40%-50% and remain consistent until SCP-XXXX appears. Once SCP-XXXX appears it follows the local wind patterns making it relatively easy to avoid once in the area.
The first recorded instance of SCP-XXXX was located in ███████ █████████ on ██,██,██. All instances of this event were expunged from local and global files and civilians were treated with Class A amnesics due to fear of panic at the time.
Addendum: In exception for the cause and origin of the substance composing SCP-XXXX, it has no known anomalous properties.
