Item #: SCP-4069
Object Class: Keter
Special Containment Procedures: When inert or being transported, all samples of SCP-4069 are to be stored in a sterilized container of of suitable size, made from corten steel, the walls of which must be at least 17mm thick. The container must be welded shut in the event that the sample becomes active.
When active, all uncontained samples of SCP-4069 are to be placed into a room measured at least 5 meters in each direction. The room's walls, roof, and floor must be made out of corten steel or galvanized steel. The room may be furnished as the transport sees fit provided a personnel of Class C or higher supervises the construction.
Outside of testing, under no circumstances should any samples of SCP-4069 come into contact with any material proven to be potentially corrosive, even by irregular means.
Description: SCP-4069 is constituted of approximately 10 L of a white non-newtonian fluid. While inert, it possesses no anomalous qualities. When a sample becomes active, it becomes heavily acidic. Tests on active samples of SCP-4069 have measured Hammett acidity functions between -13.1 and -32.9. When an active sample of SCP-4069 comes into contact with 56 or more milligrams of organic material, it solidifies and takes the shape of the species which the material originated from. While this solidification can be controlled, all attempts to trigger activation of a sample have failed.
Solidified samples of SCP-4069 begin to gain sentience based on the samples' size: a sample of 3 L has shown learning abilities and motor skills similar to a group of 5-year-old humans. Notably, larger samples do not decrease retention of information for the first 5 to 27 days after the sample becomes active. Due to SCP-4069's corrosive nature, all attempts to directly communicate have failed. However, repeated attempts have revealed that memory is retained through samples; if two inert samples are mixed and activated, the resulting instance will contain the memories held in both samples. It has not yet been confirmed that the acidity affects the samples' learning ability.
Addendum 4069-1: As of 12-██-20██, cross-testing has been permitted by Dr. ██████ and Dr. ████ Sr.
