Item #: SCP-4074
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: All testing involving SCP-4074 requires prior approval of two(2) site level three(3) researchers. When not being used for testing SCP-4074 is to be stored, with its original packaging, in a storage locker within Site-64’s low security vault.
Description: SCP-4074 is a ██████™ brand laser pointer that is made of ABS plastic, silver colored, and 5 inches in length,. A shirt “clip” is attached to the side of the laser pointer made of aluminum and steel. A red, moveable, flat switch is affixed to the side of the laser pointer that can be switched to an “On” position or “Off” position.
When a humanoid who is holding SCP-4074 turns the red switch to the “On” position, SCP-4074 will pull the humanoid (Designated SCP-4074-a) to the closest decaying human bones in BL mile radius. SCP-4074-a will be unable to let go of SCP-4074 but have full use of all other faculties except the hand on SCP-4074 until the laser pointers light is on or above the bone SCP-4074 is trying to find. SCP-4074’s movement will only be stopped if its path is completely sealed off. If there is enough room for SCP-4074 to fit through, that path will be taken regardless of the size of SCP-4074-a (See Research Log SCP-4074 for details).
Once SCP-4074 has found the bones it is searching for, SCP-4074-a will push the switch to the off position and will be able to let go of SCP-4074.
Addendum Recovery Log 4074-1: Confiscated during a raid on a Marshall, Carter,& Dark Ltd. auction site by MTF-███. Marketing materials found on participating buyers had the words “Come bid on the items that will help you find what you’re looking for!”. In smaller text, on the bottom of the leaflet read: “Marshall, Carter, & Dark Ltd are not liable for damage to property and/or person (or persons) while using purchased items”.
Addendum Research Log SCP-4074-1:
Researcher: Dr. Mess
Participant: D-748290
Location: Site-64, Humanoid Containment Room (Door Closed, Locked)
Details: Test was to verify SCP-4074’s anomalous abilities. D-748290 was instructed to grab hold of SCP-4074 and turn the switch to “On”. D-748290 followed instructions and [Redacted]. Site-64 security followed SCP-4074 with D-748290’s attached hand to █████████, a local park .4 miles away. Upon SCP-4074 stopping, D-748290’s hand let go of SCP-4074. D-748290’s hand can be found in cold storage under SCP-4074-EX.
Digging at the site of where SCP-4074’s light had pointed at upon stopping uncovered human bones. Testing and identification of the bones indicated they belonged to ███ ██████, a 14-year-old female who had been missing from the area since March of 19██. Researchers found no anomalous qualities in the bones and were later handed over to local authorities once tests were completed.
Notes:
Dr. Mess: Remember to leave an opening large enough for participant to move through. It’ll take us at least a week to clean out all the blood from that vent.
Addendum SCP-4074-C: Research into possible use for locating other SCP-844 species is awaiting approval.
Continued research ongoing
