Special Containment Procedures: Because of the nature of SCP-XXXX, subject is self-containing. However, no weapons testing is to be performed inside of Site-██. Any firearms brought out of Site-██ are to be quarantined and contained by guards using antimemetic equipment. An additional armed response is to remain within 3 kilometers of Site-██ to respond in case of an event triggered by SCP-XXXX.
Description: SCP-XXXX is an anomalous effect present at Site-██ which affects all firearms. This effect is not limited to modern-era weapons. Firearms like the musket and flintlock are still subject to SCP-XXXX’s effect.
When a firearm is discharged inside Site-██, it will begin to expel rounds at a constant rate; recorded rate of fire is 35% of affected weapon’s rate of fire (if firearm is bolt-action, single-shot or semi-auto only, rate of fire is always 250 rounds per minute). This effect is present regardless of whether a magazine or round is loaded, and active safeties do not stop the firearm from expelling rounds. It is currently unknown as to how cartridges are able to be shot out of affected firearms.
This effect is constant as long as the weapon is within the boundaries of Site-██, and so far, has caused █ containment breaches; most of the SCP subjects were re-contained, with the exception of SCP-███ and SCP-███. SCP-███ was intercepted and transferred to Site-███ after a search that lasted 3 months. All SCP subjects have since been transferred to other Sites, with Site-██ now being completely dedicated to research and documentation of the properties of SCP-XXXX.
It is of note that firearms brought out of Site-██ will no longer continuously expel rounds and instead display an after-effect (designated SCP-XXXX-B). This effect compels any human within 5 meters of an affected firearm to pick up said firearm and attempt to shoot the nearest unarmed human. The affected human (known from now on as SCP-XXXX-1) will then self-terminate after an armed response arrives anywhere within a 20-meter radius of subject. The firearm will retain SCP-XXXX-B for a period of between four hours and 3 weeks, and it is advised that any personnel approaching an instance of SCP-XXXX-B do so while equipped with antimemetic equipment.
SCP-XXXX first manifested in 19██ during Site-██’s first containment breach, ██ months after the Site’s construction. After SCP-███ breached containment, multiple security personnel reported weapons being continuously discharged without intent, causing the deaths of ██ personnel. After additional security detail arrived and ordered all personnel to evacuate, surviving security of Site-██ opened fire and was subsequently terminated.
