Item #: SCP-4688

Anomaly Class: Xenotheos1

Threat Level: ● Black

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-4688-0 is to be kept inside of the containment device known as Ceres. One team of ███ researchers and guards is to be sent to Ceres per year to monitor SCP-4688-0. Mining teams and encampments should be made, and all exploration missions by governments and space agencies should be directed by foundation personnel, in order to cover up the true nature of Ceres. No manned missions by private companies or enterprises are to be allowed. Interviews with SCP-4688-0 are only to happen under O5 permission forbidden.

Under no circumstances should SCP-████ be allowed to come into contact with SCP-4688-0.

Description: SCP-4688-0 is a hostile entity that exists in θ′ dimensions. SCP-4688-0 refers to itself as "The Shade," and claims to be worshipped by an unknown cult known as "The Four Spears of the Cloak," however, research shows that no such religious organization has ever been documented. An investigation is currently ongoing. SCP-4688-0 also claims to have has "blessed" three humans (designated SCP-4688-1, SCP-4688-2, and SCP-4688-3 respectively) with anomalous powers, who have since tried to destroy SCP-4688-0.

SCP-4688-0 was originally brought to the foundation's attention when a satellite (known as Ceres2) in an unknown exoplanet's orbit was flung towards Mars, but was stopped by an unknown force, which resulted in [DATA EXPUNGED] which lead to SCP-4688-0 being trapped inside of the satellite. The object was brought to NASA's attention, and was quickly covered up by the Foundation, making the cover story that an undiscovered dwarf planet had been found. The first encounter with SCP-4688-0 was in 1987, when a manned mission to the object was sent out.

After failing to contact Dr. Garge and his team, a backup operation was sent in as requested. There is no surviving log of the backup team, however, 60% of personnel sent have been recovered. No further missions were sent for 10 years. However, a sudden outbreak of SCP-████ happened at Site-██, where a new recon mission to Ceres was being planned. The cause of the outbreak seems to have been a dormant sample from Researcher ████████, who was on the second mission to Ceres. The source of the outbreak was [DATA EXPUNGED], and Researcher ████████ was terminated as a result. An immediate reconnaissance team was assembled, and sent out in 1997, but due to several malfunctions on board, arrived ██ months later, in 1999. The audio log of this mission was removed due to several audio-based infohazards that SCP-4688-0 inserted. The first official contact that the Foundation had with SCP-4688-0 was a 2 hour period where all communications between the research team and Site-██ were disrupted by a previously unknown wavelength. The source of the wavelength seemed to be the core of the interstellar object. All transmissions in this wavelength picked up a signal in what seemed to be in an audio form of ROT-13. The entire decoded message read out [COGNITOHAZARD REMOVED], which was a subliminal audio cognitohazard that affected █ personnel, who were subsequently terminated.

One attempt at directly contacting SCP-4688-0 was made during this mission. Dr. █████ volunteered to attempt communication with the entity. An audio log is listed below, but is incomplete due to data corruption. Dr. █████ was able to find the hole that was created and sealed up by the first team. Dr. █████ used plastic explosives to enter the hole. After █ days and █ weeks, Dr. █████ was able to get to the "core" of the planet. There was no heat difference between the surface of the planet, and the different "layers" inside of it. What he found was [REDACTED]. The planet's "core" was hollow. Inside was a large entity (SCP-4688-0) that seemed to only partially exist in our dimension. The following log is an attempt at communication with the entity.

Dr. █████ was extracted and treated with class-B amnestics. Further interviews are advised forbidden after Incident-[REDACTED].
