Item #: SCP-5133

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures:

While three known specimens of SCP-5133 have been captured, containment for any extended period appears to drastically affect lifespan, and no specimens are intact. Upon decease, only a small amount of CS#91458 remains. Cause of demise is currently unknown.

Any metal or glass structure with openings no greater than 1mm in diameter can effectively contain SCP-5133, but if subject is to be safely contained and observed then air filtration protocols must be observed due to presence of CS#91858.

Warning: CS#91858 is an inconsistently effective level 4 amnesiatic, in small doses often causing memory gaps extending only minutes or perhaps seconds surrounding exposure event, but extended exposure increases the consequent memory loss, and effects appear permanent.

Description:

Appearance: Observed specimens of SCP-5133 have been of diminutive size, never exceeding four inches in height, and often much smaller. Generally humanoid, but frequently exhibiting distorted features, seemingly changing with mood or circumstance, and occasionally with apparent conscious intent to elicit alarm or comedic effect. Extent of such physical changes varies from specimen to specimen, with some exhibiting preference for extreme beauty by human standards, others presenting forms resembling various plant and animal life, and some vaguely demonic and sinister aspects. Observed specimens often display non-humanoid attributes such as various types of wings, horns, hooves, luminosity, and general opaqueness or ethereality. While not all observed specimens of SCP-5133 have wings, these are not necessarily needed for flight as many have been observed to fly or otherwise locomote without apparent need for bodily motion. Whether this is some sort of telekinetic ability or something else is currently unknown.

Behavior: While observed instances of SCP-5133 widely varied in temperament, SCP-5133 generally exhibits childlike behavior and traits, such as shortened attention span, lack of caution, playfulness, inquisitiveness, impulsivity, mischievousness and spite.

History: Instances of likely human interaction with SCP-5133 exist in folklore in many cultures. Oldest known example is a hieroglyph found in a Chaldean museum. This sets the date to at least 900 B.C., although original date of manufacture is unknown.

Communication: SCP-5133 has appeared capable of understanding various methods of communication, but often capable of only rudimentary communication methods themselves, although these limits have varied between sampled subjects.

Human Interaction: With a few notable exceptions, observed cases of SCP-5133 present a natural aversion to humans, due to an apparent dislike or disdain for their company. Due to the small stature, atypical features, and presence of CS#91858, most commonly human interaction results in a small memory loss on the part of the human involved, and the incident is often self-contained. For example, an example of SCP-5133 may become inadvertently trapped in a drawer or room, and upon the human opening or entering the enclosure SCP-5133 will take the opportunity to exit. The human will experience a moment of memory loss, perhaps forget the reason they entered the room or the drawer, but then continue on as before. One of the most important exceptions to this is in the case of young children, who appear unaffected by CS#91858 and therefore have a greater chance of observing SCP-5133.

Theories: It is the author’s opinion that perhaps much of the observed behavior of SCP-5133 can be attributed to its exposure to CS#91858, but since it is apparently produced as a necessary and natural bodily function, observing an unaffected specimen has so far proven impossible.

Addendum 5133-1: Effects of prolonged exposure to CS#91858 were observed in 1906, Scotland, when an elderly man exhibiting unusual ‘child-like’ behavior was detained by a local constable. This was considered to be a severe instance of dementia, and the man was secured at a local elderly care facility, and given lodgings on the third floor. After a week’s time the caretakers were disturbed to discover the previously bolted windows open and the man gone. The means of egress were not readily apparent. Three years later a woman placed a call to the authorities leading to the discovery of the same elderly man along with seven other men of varying ages, who were living in an abandoned tree house. All exhibited similar signs of mental immaturity. This story was published in a paper which attracted the attention of the Scotland branch of the SCP. The men were quarantined, and placed under observation. Typical maturity level displayed was estimated to be about 5 years of age. Event connection to SCP-5133 was tentatively established upon interview, though the descriptions given were necessarily questionable due to the mental status of the subjects.
