Greenlit by MathBrush and TheMightyMcB
Item Number: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX instances are to be kept in a standard containment cell suitable for housing small cats. They are to be fed twice daily, and supplied with water. Personnel with a security clearance of level 2 or higher may request access to SCP-XXXX for testing purposes. Any changes in SCP-XXXX's behaviour are to be documented and reported to the current head researcher of the SCP-XXXX project, currently Head Researcher Adams.
Description: SCP-XXXX-1 to -7 are African Wildcats (Felis Silvestis Lybica) with various small gemstones in the place of their eyes, primarily carneliens, lapis lazuli, various quartz stones and malachites. Despite this, the cats are able to react to visual stimuli.
Post-mortem examination of an SCP-XXXX instance shows the absence of several internal organs, as typical of an animal that has been mummified. Despite this, SCP-XXXX instances still require food, water, oxygen and sleep, and the absence of these necessities produces similar effects to those observed in non-anomalous African Wildcats.
Additionally, each instance of SCP-XXXX possess white discolorations in their fur, appearing as symbols and heiroglyphs used in Ancient Egypt to represent the goddess Bastet.
SCP-XXXX-8 is believed to be a male humanoid entity with gemstones in the place of its eyes. The entity is aware of the Foundation and its goals, and is aware of members of Foundation staff. SCP-XXXX-8 formerly contacted Researcher Lannis, sending letters in Modern Standard Arabic. The return address on the letters mark an apartment in Cheyenne, Wisconsin
SCP-XXXX Recovery Log
All instances of SCP-XXXX were recovered from a tomb discovered in the Valley of the Kings, Egypt, by an archeological team. All eight instances were found mummified, and removed alongside several non-anomalous artifacts, SCP-XXXX and the other artifacts were scheduled for transfer to the National History Museum in London. Upon the unwrapping of SCP-XXXX-1's bandages for examination, it began to move and vocalise, the Foundation was notified by an agent working for the British Archeological society, and all of the SCP-XXXX instances were seized by the Foundation, with amnestics applied to archeological workers as needed.
Addendum-1
Upon initial containment on 7/2/2008, Head Researcher Lannis was transferred to SCP-XXXX. On 11/5/2008, a letter arrived at Head Researcher Lannis' home, signed by 'The Son of Bastet'. The letter was written in Modern Standard Arabic, and has been translated and transcribed below:
Dr Lannis, and peoples of the Foundation, it was with great difficulty that I obtained the means to contact you, and hope you can oblige my simple request with brevity. You have recently come into possession of a litter of kittens that are greatly important to me, and I hope genuinely that you can return them to me quickly. These past months I have learned much of the nature of your organisation, and your temperament toward anomalous objects and entities. This, surely, can be overlooked. An act of kindness for a potential ally, perhaps. I wait in great anticipation and eagerness for your reply. Yours very truly, The Son of Bastet.
Dr Lannis chose to wait for further contact, if any should come, before responding to the letter. MTF-Xi-16 ("Myth-busters") was dispatched to the return address and laid surveillance equipment.
Addendum 2
On 11/23/2008, another similar letter arrived at Dr Lannis' home
