Item #: SCP-4310

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-4310 is to be kept in a standard, 1x1ft steel safe located at site-11. It is to be kept in special-items containment unit 4, with four parallel code locks and a fingerprint identity lock. The identity lock is on access by a small number of assigned researchers. The safe is a foot of steel thick to prevent possible forced entry and is alarmed.
SCP-4310-1 is to be kept in standard humanoid containment, and given mild amnestics after every failed or negative stage of testing, and without question after every two months. -1 has been assigned several psychologists who will spend time with the subject, feeding him specific information in order to make him loyal to these assigned personnel. If the subjects profile changes, and he becomes unpredictable in his answer to requests and his opinions on the foundation and personnel involved, then testing will be put on hold until further notice.

Information includes:
Personnel-1 is another humanoid in containment. They respect the foundation, and believe that it is for the greater good. They will convince -1 similarly.
Personnel-2 is a therapist. They are in vow to tell no one else what -1 informs them. They will tell -1 that to do so would be breach of confidentiality.
Personnel-3 will be assigned seperate a task weekly in order to gain further information about -1's lineage and the history of 4310.

Description: SCP-4310 is a large golden coin that appears to be dulled by age. It has a diameter of 3.2 inches and a thickness of 0.7 Centimeters. On on side of the coin, heads, it displays an unrecognizable figurehead of unknown origins that appears to be smiling. On the other side, tails, it displays a strange creature with elongated teeth and knife-like appendages. The coin claims to be worth 2 Dysnises. This currency, to the knowledge of the foundation, does not exist.
SCP-4310's anomalous effects only seem to be activated by one user at a time. In order to move to another user, the primary must hand it over themselves along with a verbal will. The current user of SCP-4310 is SCP-4310-1, who refuses to hand the coin to the foundation due to sentimental value. Instead of forcing anything the foundation has come to conclusion that -1 will remain the test subject used to activate 4310 until further notice.
SCP-4310's anomalous effects change depending on the situation that the user is in.

In Situation Alpha (The user is in immediate danger):
The Coin lands heads up.
The anomalous effects of the coin will activate and will do anything possible to protect the user in this situation. Situations logged include psychological impairment of the attacker, other personnel around the user moving to defend them, items or objects causing movement restriction to the attacker, and the user spontaneously floating upwards in a vertical path.
The Coin lands tails up.
The user will be subject to the scenario and will be unable to escape.

In Situation Beta (The user is in no immediate danger):
The Coin lands heads up.
The situation will not change, everything remains as is. The user sometimes reports a warm, fuzzy feeling.
The Coin lands tails up.
The user will experience on an average of five minutes of severe misfortune and 'bad luck'. This can lead to physical injury, mental incapacitation, and paranoia.

SCP-4310-1 is a 25 year old African American male by the name of Arvil Oneal. He stands at just below 6ft, with a broad, semi-muscular body type. -1 claims to have received SCP-4310 on his grandmothers deathbed, where she offered the item to her 'favourite grandchild'. To the family it was known as nothing more than a good luck charm.

Addendum-1: SCP-4310-1 was found in site-11 after infiltrating the foundation by means of SCP-4310. A long time prior he was originally cornered by the agents located at SCP-[REDACTED] In [REDACTED] National park for breaching the foundations perimeter, and was taken to a small holding cell. This was the first time he discovered the anomalous capabilities of the item in question. As a means of 'comfort' he took out the coin to 'fidget' with it, flipping it into the air. The coin landed on heads. Barely a moment after this activation, one of the agents returned to the room, apparently mistaking -1 for his partner (an agent known as 'Hayman'). Terrified that the man may realize his mistake, -1 explained that he had taken care of the subject in custody, and participated in active guard duty around SCP-[REDACTED]'s perimeter. He later discovered the body of 'Hayman' not far from the original holding cell, and took the agents ID card for later use. Hayman's death is hypothesized to be a result of SCP-4310's effects. The surviving agent apparently recognized the body as -1, and asked no further questions. From here -1 was accepted into the foundation as if no one knew any different, including the O-5 when he requested to be removed from Field Duty. -1 spent 2 years working security at the foundation, until he was eventually discovered after the [REDACTED] incident in a breach of site-14. Both SCP-4310 and SCP-4310-1 are now in successful containment.

Addendum-2: SCP-4310-1 has been administered a Class-B Amnestic. He now recounts his 2 years in the foundation with very little detail, and appears confused when questioned about it. Testing will commence in the next month so long as the Amnestic does its job and his psychological evaluation goes well.

Addendum-3: Supplying SCP-4310-1 with entertainment such as art supplies and gaming supplies increases the time between amnestics, limiting any neurological damage caused in the long run. Researchers have also began using these, as well as extra food supplies, as bribery during and after tests. It appears to increase his loyalty to the foundation, as he believes that personnel are trying to help him.

Addendum-4: 4310-1 has informed Personnel-1 that he will leave soon because he needs to see his family. Researchers have begun to tell him that he will be allowed to visit them around a week two weeks before amnestic application. This has increased time between amnestics.
