Item #: SCP-5385

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-5385 is to be kept in a small steel box with a standard key lock. Instances of SCP-5385-1-1 do not require any safety procedures and are free to wander the facility and interact with personnel, as long as they do not attempt to exit the facility or enter restricted areas. Instances of SCP-5385-1-2 are to be contained in a large chamber at exactly 0° Celsius. When the containment chamber has 20 or more SCP-5385-1-2 instances, 10 instances should have their shells removed and crushed in a hydraulic press. Instances of SCP-5385-1-3 should never be handled by any personnel and should immediately be transported, via a drone, to a hydraulic press and crushed, unless being used for a test.

Description: SCP-5385 is an unusually large, empty Strombus Gigas shell, roughly 0.3 meters high and 0.28 meters long. Every 60 minutes, an instance of SCP-5385-1-1, SCP-5385-1-2, or SCP-5385-1-3 will crawl out of SCP-5385. The order in which they appear is usually SCP-5385-1-1, SCP-5385-1-2, and lastly SCP-5385-1-3, however this differs on occasion. SCP-5385-1-1 appears to be a Paguroidea with a shiny, light-blue shell. Upon contact with an instance of SCP-5385-1-1, most subjects will experience mild euphoria. SCP-5385-1-1 appear cute to any viewer and often are described as adorable by subjects. Many personnel have requested an SCP-5385-1-1 as a pet, and most requests have been accepted, as the amount of these instances is infinite and the pets seem to help with work morale. SCP-5385-1-2 are Paguroidea with a bumpy purple shell. They have no effects on humans and appear as normal hermit crabs. Their anomalous properties manifest whenever they feel they are in danger, in which case they will teleport somewhere else. SCP-5385-1-2 can only teleport to places they have already been before. SCP-5385-1-2 cannot teleport in freezing temperatures. SCP-5385-1-3 are Paguroidea with a shell shaped like a human skull without its lower jaw. Upon contact with any life form, both the SCP-5385-1-3 instance and the life form will be terminated. If an SCP-5385-1 instance is separated from its shell, SCP-5385-1-1 instances will start to induce less euphoria, SCP-5385-1-2 instances will sense danger and begin teleporting rapidly, and SCP-5385-1-3 instances will begin walking much slower, and the the SCP-5385-1 instance to which the shell belonged is instantly terminated.

Discovery: SCP-5385 was first discovered in Naples, Florida after numerous reports of pet disappearances and occasional human disappearances, with their bodies found shortly after along with the dead bodies of SCP-5385-3. The location of SCP-5385 was triangulated from the body locations and taken to Site-23, where it remains in containment.
