Item #: SCP-PSTR
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: [Paragraphs explaining the procedures]
Description: SCP-P is the designation for a decentralized phenomenon affecting large cities and other significant population centers across the globe. Via an unknown anomalous mechanism, SCP-P causes otherwise mundane posters and similar temporary signage to spontaneously expand, multiply, and generate new posters without a need for energy or mass. Currently, it is believed that a catalyst in the form of an anomalously-manufactured poster is required to initiate the effect, wherein it then 'infects' and transmits the anomalous property to ordinary posters. Posters modified by this phenomenon are designed as SCP-P-1.
New instances of SCP-P-1 appear to slide out from behind prior instances, growing outward until they are fully formed and overlap whatever surface they were growing on. Observation of a SCP-P-1 instance torn from its growing habitat show that the 'new' piece of paper is connected to the prior instance on an atomic level, with no perceptible division between the two. Removing the instance halts the process, and reattaching it to original surface does not reinitiate the anomalous property.
The content of newly generated SCP-P-1 instances seem to loosely follow the content of their predecessor, such as an authentic poster of a local band's performance generating an advertisement for a music venue. However, the people, locations, and information present in these anomalously-generated posters does not seem to exist in reality. Any identifying information, such as names, phone numbers, or addresses present on the SCP-P-1 instances that exist in reality appear to be coincidental and almost never correlate with the rest of the content present on the poster.
