Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be contained in a 24" by 24" by 22.5" fireproof safe, with a lock requiring a key-card with Level 3 security clearance or higher to open. The safe is to be held within a 36' by 36' blast-resistant containment cell, overlooked by observation windows with blast-proof glass, as well as CCTV security cameras placed in all four corners of the cell. The safe is also to be magnetically fixed into the center of the containment cell. Clearance to disable the electromagnet holding SCP-XXXX's safe into place must be given by the Site Director, and only for the purpose of transporting SCP-XXXX to more secure locations of similar specifications.

The containment chamber is to be directly guarded by on-site security personnel, and all uses of the object are to be be closely monitored at all times. Access to SCP-XXXX is only to be given to Class C researchers or containment specialists, and only under the direct approval of the site director.

Under no circumstances should SCP-XXXX be allowed onto the floor, walls, or ceiling of any portion of the facility. Should SCP-XXXX become primed while connected to any unauthorized surface, the immediate area it has connected to must be separated from the rest of the facility by any mean necessary before it is to be set off. If the individual responsible had not already been subjected to immediate subsequent termination, they are to be given Class C amnestics and re-stationed elsewhere.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a circular, translucent red, plastic sound button with a rounded top and a black bottom and rim, approximately 3 1/2 inches in diameter and 2 inches tall. Within the button, an circuit board, 9-volt battery, a 4 watt filament lightbulb, and a series of connective colored wiring can be seen through the plastic, all of indeterminate make or model. Across the top of the button, the word "SELF-DESTRUCT" is printed on in a bold, white Impact font.

On it's own, SCP-XXXX exhibits no anomalous activity. However, when it's red button lifted 1/4 of an inch upward from the rim while it's bottom is touching a solid object, it will click into place, the lightbulb inside will turn on, and SCP-XXXX become fixed against the object, now designated SCP-XXXX-1. While in this state, SCP-XXXX is fused to the area that it is directly connected to on SCP-XXXX on a molecular level, unable to be removed. Once it's button is pressed back down, SCP-XXXX will flash it's light at 2 second intervals, and emit a 110 decibel sound warning, consisting of an alarm, and the voice of a woman, approximately 25-40 years old, calmly speaking the words "Initiating self destruct sequence" followed by a countdown from 3 to 1. At the end of the countdown, the entirety of SCP-XXXX-1 will combust with a force equivalent to it's mass in black powder explosive.

Removing the portion of SCP-XXXX-1 that is fused to SCP-XXXX can prevent the entirety of the object from combusting, with status as SCP-XXXX-1 being re-designated to only the portion still attached to the affected area, and decreasing it's explosive potential. With enough effort, SCP-XXXX-1 can be reduced down to a surface merely an atom in width, with only the material directly touching SCP-XXXX remaining fixed and incapable of being removed. SCP-XXXX-1 can also be added to, as objects that become attached to or mixed in with it will become apart of it, and will thereby increase it's explosive power.

All attempts to use SCP-XXXX as a means to destroy other SCPs have also failed, as SCP-XXXX doesn't not register other anomalous objects as solid, and does not engage the priming sequence. Attempts to use SCP-XXXX-1's explosion to damage other SCPs yield similar results, as it is only as effective as other, more typical explosives of similar caliber. Henceforth, all testing of SCP-XXXX on other anomalous materials has been discontinued until further notice.

Addendum: Due to an incident involving improper handling within it's containment, SCP-XXXX is to be placed in the center of 4" by 4" piece of paper, which will then be placed within a 5" by 5" by 5" cardboard box after every test before it is to be placed back within its safe. Should SCP-XXXX enter it's "primed" state while attached to either the paper or the cardboard box, it is to be taken to a blast-proof chamber and allowed to detonate before any tests take place, and should be placed again within the prerequisite conditions and subsequently contained in its safe.
