Special Containment Procedures: Due to the nature of SCP-XXXX events, it is effectively impossible to halt them entirely. As such, containment is prioritised at minimising information and locating SCP-XXXX-1 instances. Mobile Task Force Upsilon-3 (“Foreign Exchangers “) has been formed with the primary purpose of capturing affected individuals while administering Class C amnestics to remove any trace of activity.
Site 83 has been specifically constructed to house all SCP-XXXX-1 entities. Each is to catalogued and detained via Standard Protocols. All personal working on site must have their application approved by Site Director Fletcher and additionally undergo psychiatric evaluation off-site once a month.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a phenomenon segregated to Earth with no discernible pattern in location, time, or length. The event primarily targets humans, with characteristics such as age, sex, background, or personality seemingly have no effect on the probability of an individual being selected. Once affected, the subject will immediately cease all neural activity and experience brain death for between 5-10 seconds. During the end of this period, activity resumes and the individual becomes an instance of SCP-XXXX-1.
SCP-XXXX-1(s) retain their physical appearance and characteristics, with no abnormalities externally or internally present. Instead, subjects will display drastic psychological and mental changes which include:
• No memories regarding their life prior to undergoing SCP-XXXX.
• Poor communication and language skills, despite being possibly fluent previously. Witnesses describe hearing incomprehensible sounds.
• Little knowledge on common topics associated with human culture.
• Display high amounts of distress and confusion, often resulting in the subjects becoming violent in nature.
• An immunity against conventional amnestics, including Class B, Class D and Class H. Large enough doses are noted to be effective for a short period of time.
Discovery Log: The first confirmed occurrence of SCP-XXXX was on 12/9/1993, when reports of an ‘unusual mental breakdown’ surfaced, however the Foundation did not intervene until 11 similar cases were identified across multiple different countries including USA, Malaysia and several areas in Europe. Several embedded Foundation agents disguised as law enforcement were sent to investigate, interview and apprehend individuals relating to each. This eventually led to the successful detainment of twelve individuals who were transported to Site 06-3 for temporary containment. Originally, the group was classified under SCP-XXXX, although continued events had them reclassified with the phenomena itself designated as SCP-XXXX.
Below is a small list of notable SCP-XXXX-1 events:| Year | Number of SCP-XXXX-1(s) | History | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1993 | (1): Thomas Page, aged 24. Lived in Paris by himself and worked part time as a chef at a local restaurant. Had no prior history of crime nor mental illness. | Subject underwent SCP-XXXX during work hours, where they screamed incoherently and began huddling in a fetal position until authorities arrived. A Foundation agent collected the subject from custody with no incident. | One of the first confirmed cases of SCP-XXXX which prompted the Foundation to look into similar reports. |
| 1995 | (4): The ████████ family, consisting of 2 parents and 3 children who were living Washington. The father worked as a school principal while the mother was a doctor. All three children were attending ██████ ████ ██████ before SCP-XXXX. | The anomaly occurred at their private residence, where neighbours reported hearing ‘unnatural screaming’ and decided to check on them. When they visited, they were attacked by an SCP-XXXX-1 instance, resulting in minor injuries to 2 individuals. All 4 entities proceeded to scatter in various directions before Foundation personal arrived at the location. MTF teams were able to capture 3 instances and sedate them. The remaining unaffected family member, Mr. ████████, was taken into Foundation custody and amnestics were administered appropriately. | First case of multiple individuals being affected by SCP-XXXX in a given area. The whereabouts of the remaining SCP-XXXX-1 is currently unknown. |
| 2001 | (2): Sofia Jackson and Jack Palmer, aged 32 and 34 respectively. Both lived in Australia and have a history regarding assault pair with possession of illegal firearms. Both were known for multiple car thefts and smaller crimes. | SCP-XXXX occurred to the pair during a car-jacking attempt. Both proceeded to collapse before panicking and shouting as Foundation members were sent in. Due to increasing tensions and an unstable mindset, one SCP-XXXX-1 began to thrash wildly and attacked an MTF member. The resulting scuffle ended when that MTF member terminated the instance. The remaining instance transported with no further incident. | First event which resulted in the termination of an SCP-XXXX-1 by the Foundation. The Ethics Committee investigated the incident, however no formal charges were issued. The surviving SCP-XXXX-1 has shown abnormal amounts of distress and refuses any communication attempts from foundation staff. |
