Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid Safe
Special Containment Procedures:
SCP-XXXX is to be kept sedated and bound to a bed within a soundproof humanoid containment cell, and provided with nutrients and fluids via IV drip. One class-C personnel is to monitor SCP-XXXX to ensure IV drips are not depleted.
SCP-XXXX is not to be removed from sedation until Dr. Thornton returns to Site-013.
Under normal circumstances, SCP-XXXX is to be confined to a standard humanoid containment cell furnished with a variety of literary entertainment.
Under normal circumstances, SCP-XXXX is to be confined to a padded, but otherwise comfortable room with no rope-like objects, hard-surfaces, sharp edges, or any object that could be turned into a sharp tool without supreme effort. Food is to be limited to what can be eaten with the hands.
SCP-XXXX is to be monitored via hidden cameras equipped with infrared and audio reception, with the camera feed observed by one (1) class-C personnel at all times, including SCP-XXXX’s use of the toilet, bath/shower, and when sleeping. SCP-XXXX's room is also to be outfitted with speakers and an intercom wherewith SCP-XXXX may communicate with Foundation personnel as needed.
SCP-XXXX’s bed is to be equipped with retractable binding cuffs and restrictive straps; access to these is to be keyed only to biosignatures of registered Foundation staff. Four class-D personnel are to be kept on standby in the event of an Episode Black to ensure proper restraint of SCP-XXXX.
SCP-XXXX is to have weekly therapy sessions with an on-site therapist.
Upon SCP-XXXX showing signs of an Episode Black, the following procedures are to be carried out immediately by Foundation personnel:
Class-C Personnel:
Upon signs of an Episode Black, all surveillance equipment is to be switched to infrared video only, and calming ambient music is to be played at high volumes over the room’s internal speakers until the conclusion of the Episode to reduce the likelihood of SCP-XXXX's voice being heard by attending class-D personnel. Any class-C personnel who is made susceptible to the memetic impulses of SCP-XXXX’s voice during an Episode Black is to be sent for observation and mandatory psychological evaluation.
Class-D Personnel:
All class-D personnel are to wear industrial grade hearing protection.
Upon signs of an Episode Black, four class-D personnel are to gag and bind SCP-XXXX (by force if necessary) using the retractable cuffs and bands built into SCP-XXXX’s bed. Once SCP-XXXX is secured, all class-D personnel involved are to leave its room and report to medical for observation and psychological evaluation until the Episode concludes.
Following the conclusion of the Episode Black, all expired Class-D personnel are to be removed from SCP-XXXX’s room and a class E amnestic administered to SCP-XXXX. Class-D personnel are then to scrub the room of any remaining signs of blood or viscera, and a Class B amnestic is to be administered to SCP-XXXX upon completion, wherewith SCP-XXXX may be released from its bindings and ungagged.
Description:
SCP-XXXX is a 23 year old Caucasian female with blonde hair, blue eyes, and glasses. SCP-XXXX self-identifies as “Jessica,” and encourages those with whom it engages to address it as such. SCP-XXXX has been diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder. The anomaly of SCP-XXXX manifests when SCP-XXXX suffers a bout of severe depression, termed "Episode Blacks", when SCP-XXXX's voice becomes memetically enhanced, conveying SCP-XXXX's own suicidal and despairing thoughts into the minds of those within auditory range. This memetic effect can, with prolonged exposure, cause mental instability and suicidal depression in its victims. The exposure duration is determined by the severity of SCP-XXXX's own depressive bout.
Until the transfer of Dr. Thornton to Site-██, when not depressed SCP-XXXX exhibited a generally pleasant, candid demeanor, though frequently expressed feelings of loneliness and isolation common to those suffering from MDD. Following the transfer of Dr. Thornton, SCP-XXXX became hostile to Foundation personnel, with Episode Blacks more prolonged and severe than under Dr. Thornton's care. After a series of suicide attempts and violent assaults on Foundation personnel, SCP-XXXX was put under indefinite sedation. See attached recovery log.
Recovery Log:
SCP-XXXX was brought to the Foundation’s attention following an unusual chain of University student suicides in Ann Arbor, Michigan, around August 5, 20██. This event was quickly reported on and investigated by local news channels, who theorized the influence of an on-campus cult on University students. On August 6, 20██, SCP-XXXX arrived at Ann Arbor Police Department claiming news of the mass suicide. Transcript as follows:

Det. Hank ████████: Welcome, miss…?
SCP-XXXX: Jessica.
Det. Hank ████████: That’s right, Jessica. The name’s Hank.
SCP-XXXX: Nice to meet you.
Det. Hank ████████: My report here says you knew several of the victims of this mass-suicide in Ann Arbor. One of them was your boyfriend?
SCP-XXXX: Yes.
Det. Hank ████████: How close were the two of you?
SCP-XXXX: Isn’t that a little personal?
Det. Hank ████████: I’m not asking how often you banged, I’m asking how well you knew him.
SCP-XXXX: We were going to get married this summer, so pretty well, I think.
(Pause.)
Det. Hank ████████: I’m…sorry to hear that. Do you know anything about this death cult he was affiliated with?
SCP-XXXX: There wasn’t a cult.
Det. Hank ████████: What do you mean there wasn’t a cult? The bodies, the positioning, the paraphernalia, the unusual deaths—we have a friggin’ religious symbol in the evidence locker, and you’re telling me that all of that is just made up?
SCP-XXXX: There wasn’t a cult.
Det. Hank ████████: All right, missy. If you’re so smart, tell me what all of that evidence could point to then?
SCP-XXXX slowly proffers her wrists to Det. [].
SCP-XXXX: It was me.
Det. Hank ████████: You’ve got to be kidding me. You’re telling me a hundred-something pint-size like yourself killed all those people, arranged their bodies to look like a mass suicide, and then just walked into the police station to confess to the crime?
SCP-XXXX: Yes.
Det. Hank ████████: Bullshit.

Following the interview with SCP-XXXX, the local news published a story on SCP-XXXX, which alerted the Foundation to the presence of the anomaly. Field Agents were dispatched, but due to the prevalence of the local news stories, amnestics were not administered to those involved. Instead, the Foundation, under the guise of Federal agents, transferred SCP-XXXX into Foundation custody and perpetuated the news that the SCP had been sentenced to capital punishment.
Two weeks after its containment, during an interview with Dr. Juan Ramirez, SCP-XXXX entered its first Episode Black. Transcript attached:
Interviewed: SCP-XXXX
Interviewer: Dr. Juan Ramirez
Foreward: The following transcript was collected August 21, 20██, following the initial recovery of SCP-XXXX by Field Team Charlie. During this interview, SCP-XXXX's mood changed abruptly and displayed memetic capabilities on Dr. Ramirez.

Dr. Ramirez: Hello, SCP-XXXX. How are you today?
SCP-XXXX remains silent.
Dr. Ramirez: SCP-XXXX?
SCP-XXXX: It's Jessica.
Dr. Ramirez: Jessica, then. How are you today?
SCP-XXXX doesn't respond.
Dr. Ramirez: Listen, I can't get you the kind of help you need if you don't talk to me.
SCP-XXXX: No one can help me.
Dr. Ramirez: That's not true. Helping anomalies such as yourself is the very purpose of this Foundation.
SCP-XXXX: Is that why I'm in a cell, cuffed and unable to leave or talk to anyone?
Dr. Ramirez: You're not a prisoner, we're just keeping you here until we can ascertain the nature of your anomaly.
SCP-XXXX: I'm not an anomaly, damn it! I'm a person!
Dr. Ramirez: (to the door) We're done here for today, I think. Open up.
SCP-XXXX: What? No! Don't leave! I don't want to be alone again. Please don't let me be alone again. I'll talk, I'll tell you anything, just please don't leave me alone in the cell with only my thoughts.
Dr. Ramirez: Let's start with an easy topic. Tell me about your parents.
SCP-XXXX: Parent.
Dr. Ramirez: Your parents are divorced, then?
SCP-XXXX: No. But Mother died five years ago.
Dr. Ramirez: What about your father?
SCP-XXXX: I don't know. Haven't seen him since I was eight. Anything else?
Dr. Ramirez: Tell me about the mass suicide in Ann Arbor, then.
SCP-XXXX: (Quietly) What about it?
Dr. Ramirez: You told the police detective that you were responsible for the mass suicide. Why?
SCP-XXXX: Because it's all my fault. (SCP-XXXX begins to cry) Mark was so insistent I come out with him, even though I wasn't feeling well. I just wanted him to be happy and now…and now…
Dr. Ramirez: SCP-XXXX, please calm down and stop what you're doing.
SCP-XXXX: It's Jessica, and I can't stop it. You're going to die, those guards are going to die, and there's nothing I can do to stop it!
Dr. Ramirez: Jessica, stop this at once or-(begins crying)-or we'll have to sedate you.
SCP-XXXX: You might as well just kill me and get it over with! I lost everything else already.
Dr. Ramirez: Open the door! We're done here!
(Door opens)

Closing Statement: After sending a request that SCP-XXXX be given routine psychiatric therapy, Dr. Ramirez committed suicide three days later. His final words were "This whole damn life is pointless." Guards stationed outside SCP-XXXX's cell reported feelings of despair and thoughts of suicide during the following weeks and are being monitored routinely for any other memetic effects.
SCP-XXXX's mood restored two days later.
Following the interview with Dr. Ramirez, SCP-XXXX was transferred to Site-013, where it was given a session with the on-site therapist, Dr. ███████ Thornton. Transcript as follows:

Dr. Thornton: Hello, Jessica.
SCP-XXXX: Hello, Doctor.
Dr. Thornton: I've been assigned as your therapist, and before we get started, I'd like to know a little bit more about you. My file here says that you are prone to thoughts of suicide?
SCP-XXXX: It happens, sometimes. Sometimes I just…hate life, I guess?
Dr. Thornton: I see. And when you have these periods of hating life, are there other emotions that accompany those feelings?
SCP-XXXX: Sometimes. Most of the time I just feel numb and apathetic, but the bad times, the really bad times…my mind goes to a pretty dark place, I guess.
Dr. Thornton: And do you have these bad times often?
SCP-XXXX: Not extremely often. Maybe…three or four days out of the month?
Dr. Thornton: Does anything help? Do you take any medications, or perhaps physical exercise, yoga, or meditation?
SCP-XXXX: I mostly hide in my room and eat ice cream, actually. Yoga's for when I feel good.
Dr. Thornton: What about other people, have you found that being around others is more helpful or harmful?
SCP-XXXX: I guess helpful, sometimes. Others it just makes me feel worse.
Dr. Thornton: How often would you say it's helpful, compared to making it feel worse?
SCP-XXXX: Maybe, six to four?
Dr. Thornton: And how are you feeling now?
SCP-XXXX: Well, you're not dead yet, so…I'd say it's on the better side?
Dr. Thornton: (Laughing) Well, no, I'm certainly not dead yet. Tell me, is there anything you would like to make your stay more comfortable? I can't promise anything, but I can make some suggestions to my superiors.
SCP-XXXX: Got any good books?
Dr. Thornton: I'm sure we can scrounge up a few. Anything else?
SCP-XXXX: Um…No, I don't think so.
Dr. Thornton: Very well. I'll talk to my superiors about getting you some reading material, and-
SCP-XXXX: Doctor?
Dr. Thornton: Yes?
SCP-XXXX: How long am I going to be here?
Dr. Thornton: I can't answer that, I'm afraid. But rest assured, we'll be seeing each other plenty in the coming months.
SCP-XXXX: Okay, then…
Dr. Thornton leaves the room.
SCP-XXXX sighs.

Following its first therapy session with Dr. Thornton, SCP-XXXX was contained in a standard Humanoid containment cell for a period of three months. During this time, SCP-XXXX met once a week with Dr. Thornton, and exhibited a generally cooperative demeanor, though expressed repeatedly to Dr. Thornton feelings of loneliness and isolation. Dr. Thornton: Hello, Jessica. How are you feeling today.
SCP-XXXX: I'm okay, I guess.
Dr. Thornton: Is there anything on your mind?
SCP-XXXX: Not really.
Dr. Thornton: How are the books?
SCP-XXXX: Good. They help to pass the time.
Dr. Thornton: You've been with us for…three months now, I see? How is your depression?
SCP-XXXX: It comes and goes. You know how it is.
Dr. Thornton: Tell me anyway.
SCP-XXXX: Well, some days I feel pretty good, like I've accepted that this is my life. I'm a prisoner, I'm here for my own good and the good of everyone else, yada yada. But then there are days, Doc, where I just feel so alone. I haven't talked to anyone except you, except for those rare occasions one of the guards yells at me to be quiet, in months. The food's slid under the door, all I get is a narrow window into the world outside and it just feels so…isolated, and lonely.
Dr. Thornton: Go on.
SCP-XXXX: I mean, what do you want me to say, Doc? How on earth am I supposed to be happy with this? How is the daily sight of gray walls, of a steel door with a tiny barred window, supposed to keep me from being depressed? Sure, I have some good books, but I can't read all day every day. I get tired of reading.
Dr. Thornton: We can't let you out, Jessica. You said it yourself, it's for your own good and for the safety of everyone else.
SCP-XXXX: I know that. But what would you do, in my situation? Ignored on a daily basis, twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, except for that one hour you get to talk to your therapist?
Dr. Thornton: It would certainly be a challenge-
SCP-XXXX: I used to be someone, Doctor! I had friends, I had things I did, people I saw on a daily basis. I used to do yoga classes and volunteer at Helping Hands, and talk on the phone and eat freaking pizza. Now all I get is some weird gruel from the kitchens, no one talks to me, and I'm forced to stare at the same gray walls from the second I wake up to the second I go to sleep!
Dr. Thornton: Calm down, Jessica.
SCP-XXXX: Calm down? Calm down?! I'm miserable in here. I know you don't care, you're just part of a company that locks up things that don't make sense, but I'm not an unfeeling thing, I'm a person!
(Pause. SCP-XXXX sniffles.)
Dr. Thornton: What if we gave you a more comfortable room, with a larger selection of books, and allowed nearby personnel to chat? Would that help?
SCP-XXXX nods.
Dr. Thornton: We'll have to put you under strict surveillance, you understand? If we're going to have others talking to you on a regular basis, we need to know when you're not safe to talk to.
SCP-XXXX nods again.
Dr. Thornton: Very well. I'll talk to my superiors to see about improving your situation.
SCP-XXXX: Thanks.

After this session with SCP-XXXX, Dr. Thornton recommended SCP-XXXX be given more comfortable amenities and be permitted to speak routinely with Foundation personnel, and that Foundation personnel be encouraged to speak with SCP-XXXX in turn. During this time, SCP-XXXX showed a marked improvement in mood, duration of depression, and frequency of Episode Blacks. The following is a collection of excerpts of SCP-XXXX's interactions with Foundation personnel during this time:

C-1443: Morning, Jessica.
SCP-XXXX: Morni—huh?
C-1443: (Laughing) I said good morning! Word came down from the brass you were feeling a bit lonely, so they installed an intercom in your room. You don't have to push any buttons or anything, we can hear you just fine.
SCP-XXXX: But what if I have an episode?
C-1443: We have a kill-switch built in that will allow us to cut power to the intercom so we don't hear you, don't worry.
SCP-XXXX: Can I talk to anyone?
C-1443: There's an intercom on the wall outside your room so any passing staff can talk to you if they want. They'll be able to hear you, too.
(SCP-XXXX begins crying)
C-1443: Uh, are you okay? You're not having one of those episodes, right?
SCP-XXXX: No! No, this is wonderful! Thank you!

C-1688: I read that book you recommended.
SCP-XXXX: Oh, did you like it?
C-1688: It was a little hard to get into, like you said, but once the unicorn came in, it got real interesting.
SCP-XXXX: Right? The way it just started eating everyone in sight, and Alan's standing there like, "What's going on? Why's a unicorn eating people?"
(C-1688 and SCP-XXXX share a laugh.)
C-1688: Well, anyway, didn't you say there was a sequel? I'd be real interested to know what happens next.

Dr. Smith: What song is that?
SCP-XXXX: Wha- Oh!
Dr. Smith: Sorry, I didn't mean to startle you.
SCP-XXXX: No, it's no bother, I just…didn't know you were there. What was your question?
Dr. Smith: Someone must have left the intercom on and I heard you humming a song as I walked by. What was it?
SCP-XXXX: It's a song I used to listen to called The Willow Maid. Have you heard of it?
Dr. Smith: No, I haven't. It sounds almost folktunish, though.
SCP-XXXX: It's about a man who falls in love with a fairy. You should look it up sometime!
Dr. Smith: I'll have to do that.

Addendum XXXX-I: In light of Dr. Thornton's suggestions, a new containment protocol involving restraint during Episode Blacks has been implemented for SCP-XXXX. See Current Containment Procedures.
-Containment Specialist Anders
Following SCP-XXXX's improved containment procedures, SCP-XXXX continued to meet with Dr. Thornton on a bi-weekly basis and continued to show signs of increasing stability. During the next two years, SCP-XXXX suffered only four Episode Blacks, and at Dr. Thornton's suggestion, SCP-XXXX began to undergo testing to discover if a cure or anomaly neutralization was possible. All tests were unsuccessful, or inconclusive.
SCP-XXXX displayed a marked attachment to Dr. Thornton, but as SCP-XXXX showed signs of stabilization, Dr. Thornton was transferred to Site ██ to work with Foundation and other humanoid SCPs in need of his expertise. Despite Dr. Thornton's recommendations to the contrary, SCP-XXXX was not informed of this impending change.
Below is a transcript from their final session, and the first session with the new site therapist:

SCP-XXXX: Good afternoon, Doctor!
Dr. Thornton: How are you feeling today?
SCP-XXXX: Honestly? I'm feeling a little rough today, but I feel like I'm miles better than when I came.
Dr. Thornton: How are your accommodations? Are you having any suicidal thoughts or desires today?
SCP-XXXX: No, not today. Today's been a pretty good day, actually.
Dr. Thornton: I'm glad to hear that.
SCP-XXXX: Everything okay, Doctor?
Dr. Thornton: Yes, Jessica. Everything is fine. I want you to remember the things we have discussed, especially the CBT feedback and Mindfulness therapy we've been working on, all right?
SCP-XXXX: Of course, Doctor! Are you sure you're all right? Do you need some therapy today?
Dr. Thornton: No, Jessica. I will be fine. I just received some bad news, is all.
SCP-XXXX: Do you want to talk about it?
Dr. Thornton: (Chuckling) No, Jessica. You do not need to shrink me.
SCP-XXXX: Okay, then. So what are we talking about today?
Dr. Thornton: Today, we are going to talk about change.
SCP-XXXX: I hate change.

Dr. Gray: Dr. Thornton has been transferred by the Foundation to a different site to help others in need of his expertise.

SCP-XXXX: SHUT UP! We're done! I'm not talking to you!

Once SCP-XXXX discovered Dr. Thornton's transfer to Site ██, SCP-XXXX underwent frequent Episode Blacks lasting for several days at a time, during which SCP-XXXX attempted to escape containment four times and attempted suicide twice, growing more violent and hostile toward Foundation staff with each passing attempt. This culminated on 8/15/20██.
Foreward: The following log is a summary of Escape Attempt 5 on 8/15/20██, gathered from numerous video feeds throughout Site-013 and from audio recordings of various Foundation personnel, from the time of SCP-XXXX's initial containment breach, to its sedation and securing by Dr. Gray and other Foundation staff.
<Begin log>
On August 15, 20██, SCP-XXXX underwent a severe Episode Black during which it successfully managed to incapacitate the four class-D personnel sent to restrain it. Though the attending class-C observer, C-1449, responded quickly to SCP-XXXX's containment breach, SCP-XXXX bit C-1449's neck, tearing through several layers of skin and leaving C-1449 bleeding and whimpering. C-1449 managed to send a distress signal to Containment Specialist Anders and Dr. Gray, who alerted Security Officer Mendez, who gathered a group of guards equipped with industrial-grade hearing protection to capture SCP-XXXX.
After a chase of more than two hours through Site-013, Mendez and his guards managed to corner SCP-XXXX in the west wing, where they proceeded to restrain SCP-XXXX until a strong sedative could be administered by Dr. Gray. Following its sedation, SCP-XXXX was transported to an isolated cell within Site-013, where it was strapped to a gurney. Dr. Gray authorized the use of an intravenous drip to keep SCP-XXXX sedated and under control.
SCP-XXXX's last words before sedation were a plea for Dr. Gray to kill it.
<End Log>
Addendum XXXX-II In light of escape attempt five on 08/15/20██, a request has been sent to O5-command to have Dr. Thornton reinstated at Site-013. SCP-XXXX is to be kept sedated until this request has been fulfilled.
-Containment Specialist Anders
Additional entries and tests of note:
The following is the last entry in SCP-XXXX's diary, obtained from SCP-XXXX's home on 8/23/20██ at the request of Dr. Thornton. Throughout the short entry, SCP-XXXX's handwriting becomes increasingly illegible, digging into the paper and imprinting on the last pages of the diary.

Oh my God.
They're dead.
They're all dead.
Even Mark.
Why? What did I do? I told him I wasn't feeling well. I didn't want to go out and see everyone. I should have said no. I should have told him today wasn't a good day. It'd have hurt his feelings, he was so proud of having that sculpture on display but at least he would still be alive.
This is all my fault. I'm a murderer. I have to run, I have to hide, I have to

(Sigh)
Personal log: 0815██, Dr. Adam Gray.
Today, I had to put SCP-XXXX under sedation. She-It- simply became too much to handle. It's been getting worse ever since that first day. I know we could help her if she-it- would let us, but with the levels of violence I saw today, I just can't in good conscience keep putting the staff here in harm. It's easier to order IV bags than to replace personnel.
John, C-1449, died on the operating table I've been told. She-Damn it! IT ripped his throat out. I guess that explains the blood. I just…I don't know what else we could do. You can't help someone if they don't want to be helped. That's not how psychotherapy works.
(Pause)
I've sent a request through Site Director Rochelle to O5 to have Thornton returned to Site-013. Maybe he can make some progress where I couldn't. I've never felt so helpless, so useless. Her screams, her pleas for me to kill her…I couldn't. It probably would have been better for everyone if I did, but I swore to help people, not euthanize them.
Thornton, if you're seeing this, then my request must have gotten through. I'm sorry I couldn't pick up where you left off and continue the treatment—I know how important it was to you that your daughter recover from whatever anomaly it was that latched onto her, but there is nothing left that I can do to help. Maybe someone else could make a difference, but the Foundation has more important priorities than keeping a 23-year-old girl on perpetual suicide watch. Even if it is family.
Good luck.
<End Log>
Dr. Gray was found dead 8/16/██. Site coroner cited cause of death as acute heart failure.
