Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

drone2

First known photograph of a human-bred SCP-XXXX-D. Taken in the Brigham Caverns. July 18, 1917

Special Containment Procedure:

SCP-XXXX-H instances are to be kept in standard containment cells. Personnel needs to be armed with firearms of a caliber of .44 or higher. No fewer than three personnel are to be used when directly interacting with a human. If the host is not human, then personnel trained in handling dangerous animal life should be used.

Cognito Hazard: Respiratory protection is mandatory when interacting with SCP-XXXX-D or Q directly or while working with their substances.

If SCP-XXXX-D is human-bred, they are to be placed in containment cells able to withstand blows of eight-hundred thousand Newtons. The measurement should be adjusted to fit doubled the proportional strength of the animal the drone is derived from. Six or more armed personnel are to be used, doubled if they are born of any animal other than human. Firearms should be of a power and fire rate of a standard assault rifle or greater.

SCP-XXXX-Q dens should be detonated and collapsed in order to incapacitate it beneath the weight of the debris. Queen facilities should be two hundred kilometers on all axis both above and below the den's location. The site must house digging equipment as well as tanks.

Description:

SCP-XXXX-H (Hosts)

The species starts as a parasitic organism, growing from a living host which has consumed a golden honey substance. Over the course of three months, embryos of SCP-XXXX begin to form within large pustules growing on the host's back. Once hatched, the host dies from blood loss and shock and is eaten by the newborn SCP-XXXX subjects.

SCP-XXXX-D (Drones)

Drones tend to exhibit intelligence on par with their host. Human-bred drones do not undergo a child stage of mental development, already being at an intellectual level similar to ourselves. Empathy for species other than their own is not present, though they are able to feign such things when interacting with creatures under their influence. Despite attempts, subjects have not been receptive to the possibility of mutual cooperation between our species. Drones communicate via a combined consciousness resembling telepathy. They release a violet cloud of spores that when inhaled takes root in the body and links them to this consciousness. Victims may initially show signs of resistance and individuality, but after prolonged exposure will lose all self-control. Once entering the body, spores do not dissipate over time. The more spores within a creature's body, the more control over the individual and at greater range. The maximum distance of this mental bond has not been discovered.1

Drones grow up to two meters in height and weigh about ninety kilograms.2 They have six legs that are a combination of arachnid-like appendages, as well as a set matching their host species in front of them. They have four arms. The bottom resembles that of a scorpion or a crustacean, their large claws are capable of severing human appendages. The top arms are inherited from their host. Drones have large pods on their backs which unfolds when releasing spores. Their skin is made of the same honeycomb substance as found on a host, and far more durable. Their torsos and waists mirror the general shape as their host, their skeletal structure differing only to accommodate the size of the creature. Drones have a strength two times greater than their host. Their faces are similar in shape to that of their host, mouth and eye placement being as expected. The eyes are insectoid and are suited for dark environments. They possess no ears or nasal passages, large antennae serving a similar function. Their mouths resemble their host's, but with considerably sharp teeth. Covering their mouths are a set of mandibles, four-pronged, fifteen centimeters. Drones are carnivorous, subsisting only on meat and sugar water. There appears to be no preference as to the kind of meat or water nor the freshness of it. No drone in captivity has died from natural causes other than starvation or dehydration, which takes forty-six days to occur. There are subjects that are over a hundred years old and show no signs of physical degradation. Drones cannot make honey, only their queen can produce this substance. All forms of SCP-XXXX have only been found on land.3

SCP-XXXX-Q (Queens)

The age of these queens is estimated as being from the Paleogene period, possibly the Paleocene epoch. Queens reach a height of around seventy meters, a width of thirty-eight meters, and a weight of thirty-six metric tons. Queens are typically sedentary unless needing to relocate or defend itself. They possess insectoid faces and have the same mandibles, eyes, and antennae as drones. Queens have an external shell or skin akin to that of all forms of SCP-XXXX, though far more durable. Explosive rounds have proven less than effective. An exception to this is a soft lower middle section of presumably it's stomach area, which has udder-like orifices which produce its honey. When a queen is not producing honey, it rests this section in order to keep it from being exposed. Their bodies are anthropoidal, its sections and legs akin to that of a millipede, with an estimated two thousand, five hundred fifty-six legs. Queens have a large pod on their backs similar to that of drones. There is not enough data to determine the size of the cloud of spores it emits. Creatures exposed to a queen's spores immediately lose all degree of autonomy. The potency of these spores can induce memory loss, covering a span of five to fifteen years.4 Seizures, stuttering, slurred speech, and hallucinations are also possible side-effects.
