Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX must be held in a room of large enough proportions to contain all SCP-XXXX-2 components, completely air-tight, with enough room for researchers to enter without contacting SCP-XXXX in any way. In addition, as a precaution security systems must constantly monitor the room as to make sure in the event an organism does touch SCP-XXXX, it is made known. In such an event, The organism will be classified an SCP-XXXX-1 and promptly contained within SCP-XXXX's room. If a person or animal experiences symptoms of having contact with SCP-XXXX, report them for an immediate examination. In the rare event that an SCP-XXXX-1 dies away from SCP-XXXX, please follow protocol "Undertaker" and report said body to Dr. Chambers, or his assistants. Failure to do so, if evidence points to you're negligence, will be punishable. Due to the nature of SCP-XXXX, staff are not permitted to run tests involving physical contact with SCP-XXXX-2 or run tests that could accidentally cause physical contact with SCP-XXXX-2 unless given permission by lead researcher Dr. Chambers.

Description: SCP-XXXX is an amass of bones (denoted as SCP-XXXX-2) piled together found in an ancient underground sewer system located in ███████. The origin of the SCP-XXXX-2 that comprise it are unknown for the most part, but many different species can be identified. Despite the biodiversity, the majority of the SCP-XXXX-2 are unmistakably human. The size of SCP-XXXX has reached approximately 50 meters in diameter, and at its peak roughly 30 meters tall. Carbon dating done on the SCP-XXXX-2 show varying periods of time, suggesting this anomaly is more than centuries old, however, due to research of this nature being discontinued, no true origin date can be discerned. The sewer system in which it was found had no architectural properties inconsistent with either the region or with any other culture yet found, however, upon inspection the sewer system had no abnormalities other than its design. The labyrinthine tunnels SCP-XXXX were found in are still consistently monitored nonetheless, and are patrolled constantly in the event that SCP-XXXX-2 samples remain.

SCP-XXXX-1: When physical contact is made with an SCP-XXXX-2 by a living organism, it will undergo several stages. Immediately upon contact, many subjects report dizziness, though this is inconsistent. For the next 24 hours, there will be little to no change in SCP-XXXX-1. Afterwards, an increase in hunger is observed, and over the ensuing week, muscles will begin to atrophy. During this period, no matter what volume of food is consumed by SCP-XXXX-1, they continue to display signs of malnutrition. Then, SCP-XXXX-1 will start having a repeated nightmare (see interview 1) causing a lack of sleep, which in turn, causes SCP-XXXX-1 to start having visual hallucinations. These visual hallucinations are consistent with subjects' nightmare. Upon 3 weeks after initial contact, with a margin of error of a few days depending on body type, SCP-XXXX-1 will collapse from exhaustion, and die. At this stage, no physical contact is allowed with SCP-XXXX-1, as such, autopsies have not been conducted. Upon death, SCP-XXXX-1 is then classified as SCP-XXXX-2. Upon becoming SCP-XXXX-2, the subjects' skin becomes incredibly withered and desiccated, as if mummified by centuries of being in a dry environment, despite happening in mere moments. Due to the sudden drop in mass, it is assumed the subjects are comprised merely of bone and skin at this point. Interestingly, a study done on an SCP-XXXX-1-002 revealed that he experienced brain death only after being reduced to a dry corpse, suggesting that neither the hunger, nor the atrophy had lead to his demise, rather, the mummification. It is unknown if this means SCP-XXXX can affect immortals, and thus Dr. Chambers has requested subjects for testing.

Addendum: Due to incident XXXX-02 Dr. Chambers has been granted to carry out punishments to those who break protocol "Undertaker."

Note From Dr. Chambers: I do hope to see none of you in my office. The consequences would be… biblical.

Gohar's Journal

When retrieving SCP-XXXX, many artifacts were found at the site, including clothes, jewelry, wallets, a few cellphones from vastly different years, and most interesting of all, a leather journal written by one Gohar Ari. Said journal is currently being translated from ████████, see below.
