Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX must be held in a room of large enough proportions to contain all SCP-XXXX-2 components, completely air-tight, with enough room for researchers to enter without contacting SCP-XXXX in any way. In addition, as a precaution security systems must constantly monitor the room as to make sure in the event an organism does touch SCP-XXXX, it is made known. In such an event, The organism will be classified an SCP-XXXX-1 and promptly contained within SCP-XXXX's room. If a person or animal experiences symptoms of having contact with SCP-XXXX, report them for an immediate examination. In the rare event that an SCP-XXXX-1 dies away from SCP-XXXX, please follow protocol "Undertaker" and report said body to Dr. Chambers, or his assistants. Failure to do so, if evidence points to you're negligence, will be punishable. Due to the nature of SCP-XXXX, staff are not permitted to run tests involving physical contact with SCP-XXXX-2 or run tests that could accidentally cause physical contact with SCP-XXXX-2 unless given permission by lead researcher Dr. Chambers.
Description: SCP-XXXX is an amass of bones (denoted as SCP-XXXX-2) piled together found in an ancient underground sewer system located in ███████. The origin of the SCP-XXXX-2 that comprise it are unknown for the most part, but many different species can be identified. Despite the biodiversity, the majority of the SCP-XXXX-2 are unmistakably human. The size of SCP-XXXX has reached approximately 50 meters in diameter, and at its peak roughly 30 meters tall. Carbon dating done on the SCP-XXXX-2 show varying periods of time, suggesting this anomaly is more than centuries old, however, due to research of this nature being discontinued, no true origin date can be discerned. The sewer system in which it was found had no architectural properties inconsistent with either the region or with any other culture yet found, however, upon inspection the sewer system had no abnormalities other than its design. The labyrinthine tunnels SCP-XXXX were found in are still consistently monitored nonetheless, and are patrolled constantly in the event that SCP-XXXX-2 samples remain.
SCP-XXXX-1: When physical contact is made with an SCP-XXXX-2 by a living organism, it will undergo several stages. Immediately upon contact, many subjects report dizziness, though this is inconsistent. For the next 24 hours, there will be little to no change in SCP-XXXX-1. Afterwards, an increase in hunger is observed, and over the ensuing week, muscles will begin to atrophy. During this period, no matter what volume of food is consumed by SCP-XXXX-1, they continue to display signs of malnutrition. Then, SCP-XXXX-1 will start having a repeated nightmare (see interview 1) causing a lack of sleep, which in turn, causes SCP-XXXX-1 to start having visual hallucinations. These visual hallucinations are consistent with subjects' nightmare. Upon 3 weeks after initial contact, with a margin of error of a few days depending on body type, SCP-XXXX-1 will collapse from exhaustion, and die. At this stage, no physical contact is allowed with SCP-XXXX-1, as such, autopsies have not been conducted. Upon death, SCP-XXXX-1 is then classified as SCP-XXXX-2. Upon becoming SCP-XXXX-2, the subjects' skin becomes incredibly withered and desiccated, as if mummified by centuries of being in a dry environment, despite happening in mere moments. Due to the sudden drop in mass, it is assumed the subjects are comprised merely of bone and skin at this point. Interestingly, a study done on an SCP-XXXX-1-002 revealed that he experienced brain death only after being reduced to a dry corpse, suggesting that neither the hunger, nor the atrophy had lead to his demise, rather, the mummification. It is unknown if this means SCP-XXXX can affect immortals, and thus Dr. Chambers has requested subjects for testing.
Addendum: Due to incident XXXX-02 Dr. Chambers has been granted to carry out punishments to those who break protocol "Undertaker."
Note From Dr. Chambers: I do hope to see none of you in my office. The consequences would be… biblical.
Initial Tests, Subject 001
Subject Description: Subject 001 is an uncooperative D class female, who was not debriefed on the nature of SCP-XXXX. 001 came to the foundation after being sentenced to death for the brutal murder of her wife, details of which are withheld due to being irrelevant.
2/01/████ Upon entering SPC-XXXX's containment cell, she was instructed to touch one of the SCP-XXXX-2's. Due to 001's uncooperative behavior, SCP staff had to employ taunting methods in order for her to comply. Other than knowing that SCP-XXXX does not have the same psychological properties as SCP-162, nothing of note happens.
Test A - 2/05/████
Subject: SCP-XXXX-1-001
Procedure: Gastrological Tests
Results: Subject seems to be able to both digest and absorb nutrients, however still suffers from signs of malnutrition. Eating habits will be monitored.
Analysis: Subject must be burning off all of the calories it intakes. As there is no way to verify this at the moment, the details of the test will be placed in ███████.
Test B- 2/19/████
Subject: SCP-XXXX-1-001
Procedure: Autopsy
Results: Failed
Analysis: The doctor who ran the autopsy on subject 001 could not complete the procedure due to vertigo-like dizziness. I feel as though we may have created subject 002, which pleases me. However, so that we don't lose any more of our illustrious medical department, I am hereby disallowing all autopsies on SCP-XXXX-1 subjects.
Before records of SCP-XXXX-1-002 were found, a list of requests put in by Dr. Chambers was located dating before subject's recorded death on 3/09/████
The Request List Of Dr. Chambers
Request A, 2/22/████: The following is an email chain from Dr. Chambers.
C: Greetings O5 counsel, this is Dr. █████ Chambers, requesting an SCP-939 specimen for testing.
█: Due to your past history with the Ethics Committee, I need to know the details of your experiment before signing off on this.
C: Ah, ██████, I didn't realize you'd be the one responding. My results will speak for themselves, as always.
█: That is not good enough this time, you have eyes watching over you now, you rubber faced freak. If it were up to me, you'd be lobotomized and sent out the door.
C: Forgive me for asking but, why is it not up to you?
█: Because as you said… your results speak for themselves.
C: Exactly. Now, are you going to trust me with the asset or not?
█: We have one that is expendable, I'll put in a transfer order to Blacksite immediately.
C: My most sincere thanks.
█: Don't push your luck you leather-bound quack. You will also be assigned Containment Specialists, so do try and be on your best behavior.
Request B, 2/28/████: The following is an email chain from Dr. Chambers.
C: Greetings O5 counsel, I am requesting an SCP-3008-2 for testing.
O5: Doctor Chambers, you know there is only 1 dead 3008-2 specimen. Your request can not be complied.
C: If I’m not mistaken, the journal found indicates that 3008-2’s are attracted to dead contemporaries, yes?
O5: That is correct.
C: And the civilian the journal was recovered from was outside the site, meaning, they can sense things outside of SCP-3008-1.
O5: I see where you are going with this, and I have sent an order to that site, and we will alert you when we’re done. We are only doing this because it would benefit the Foundation to have more samples to better understand 3008.
C: No need to inform me, I will facilitate this my self.
it has been recorded in Blacksite’s data banks that Dr. Chambers was absent from 3/12/████ to 3/16/████.
Request C, 3/09/████: The following is an email from the Ethics Committee to Dr. Chambers.
EC: Dr. Chambers, we have received reports of your recent request and it causes many of us here to be concerned.
C: It's just standard D level test subjects. You all seem overly paranoid.
EC: We have reasons to be cautious with you. Not to mention, your request on its own is of no notable concern, except for the specificity of the subjects you asked for. Why do you need subjects with terminal illnesses, histories with eating disorders, and subjects with bone-diseases?
C: Due to the results of SCP-XXXX-1-001 and 002 I have particular tests I want to run.
EC: We were not informed you ran 2 tests, are you hiding something?
C: If you look at the results of Test B, along with the classified document attached, you will see I am in full compliance with my restrictions.
EC: Yes, well, as it stands we will approve your request seeing as you haven't violated your agreement in 8 months. We will still be monitoring you.
C: I look forward to it.
Secondary Tests, Subject 002
Subject Description: 002 is an SCP Foundation medic. Due to the position of 002 preliminary tests should focus on trying to save 002's life. For confidentiality purposes, personal identifiers will be omitted.
Test A - 2/19/████
Subject: ██████, Amendment, SCP-XXXX-1-002
Procedure: Standard Physical
Results: All Vitals Normal
Analysis: After succumbing to dizziness, ██████ had been given a medical examination as standard procedure. He will be monitored daily.
Test B - 2/22/████
Subject: SCP-XXXX-1-002
Procedure: Gastrological Tests
Results: Subject has the same issue as 001, in order to try to preserve life of 002, he has been placed in a medically induced coma, and is being tube fed.
Analysis: I find it odd that fundamentally speaking, both 001 and 002 were able to ingest and digest food, yet still show the same symptoms of malnutrition. As such, I have put in a request for SCP-939 to see if a being that has no need to eat could also succumb to the effects of SCP-XXXX.
Test C - 2/28/████
Subject: SCP-XXXX-1-002
Procedure: Physical Examination
Results: 002 is still undergoing signs of degenerative muscle structure despite being in a medically induced coma for 6 days. Increasing feeding times is ineffective. Metabolism suppressants are ineffective. Stem cells are ineffective. Despite being unconscious, 002 can be seen thrashing about periodically.
Analysis: While it is sad we may lose Dr. ███████ I can't help but wonder what would happen to an organism lacking bone structure that contacts SCP-XXXX-2. I had just reread the journal from the civilian from SCP-3008 and as he describes, the "staff" appear to be entirely comprised of skin. I have put in another request.
Test D- 3/09/████
[Redacted]
It should be noted that Ethics Committee requests a full account of this test
Tests on SCP-939
Test A - 3/20/████
Subject: SCP-939
Procedure: By way of mechanical arm, SCP-XXXX-2 will be placed into a cell with SCP-939 which is monitored on night vision cameras.
Results: SCP-939 has ripped the mechanical arm off its base, and completely swallowed SPC-XXXX-2.
Analysis: It seems the electrical whirring and stench of human bones was enough to grab SCP-939's attention, who from now on will be referred to as subject S939.
Test B - 3/30/████
Subject: SCP-XXXX-S939
Procedure: Vitals Scan
Results: Compared to similar examples from this species, muscle atrophy has increased significantly. S939 also seems to scream at random intervals, which may be connected to 002's chronic thrashing, but this conjecture is unsubstantiated.
Analysis: S939 is displaying signs of being an SCP-XXXX-1. This is hardly the evidence needed to rule out starvation as a cause of death, however, it is interesting.
Test C - 4/08/████
Subject: SCP-XXXX-1-S939
Procedure: Vitals Scan
Results: S939 is severely malnourished, spending most of it's time begging to be let out. Its muscles have atrophied to the point where S939 can no longer support it's own body weight.
Analysis: It seems our little friend here will not survive another 2 days, however, as we are dealing with a Keter class, I am overwhelmed with… curiosity.
Test D - 4/09/████
Subject: SCP-XXXX-2-S939
Procedure: Body Removal via loader construct.
Results: S939 has withered into a mummified state, has stopped vocalizing, shows no vitals akin to what others of its species display (AMN-C227 levels have decreased significantly,) does not respond to stimuli (even light,) and is presumed to be neutralized.
Analysis: Interesting. It appears death is not caused by starvation in this instance. It also appears that prolonged direct contact with SCP-XXXX-2 does not increase nor decrease the mummification processes speed. I have been delivered a new toy to break from my absence during February 12 - 16. I have been quite eager to examine this.
Tests on SCP-3008-2
Test A-1 - 4/12/████
Subject: SCP-3008-2-03
Procedure: SCP-XXXX-2 will be brushed up against SCP-3008-2 via mechanical arm.
Results: SCP-3008-2 has instantaneously mummified. The drastic loss in body mass is unbelievable.
Analysis: Due to SCP-3008-2 having no internal organs, muscle, or bone, it seems as though SCP-XXXX had a drastically smaller reaction time. I believe I shall be recieving many phone calls for my "careless" destruction of this asset, however. One thing I must test is, since 3008-2 is nothing more than skin-like material, has it become an SCP-XXXX-2? Immediate testing shall begin.
Test A-2 - 4/12/████
Subject: SCP-3008-2-03
Procedure: D class has been instructed to touch 3008-2-03. D class, renamed SCP-XXXX-003, complies.
Results: No immediate effects. After 1 week of observation, 003 showed no symptoms associated with 001, 002, or S939.
Analysis: Due to no abnormalities displayed with 003, they have been terminated and this test deemed concluded. As of right now, the only things able to become SCP-XXXX-2 are bones.
Incidents
Incident XXXX-01, 2/19/████ this is a transcript of the audio file from MedBay 15
"██████ reporting. Subject 001 looks to be in advanced stages of mummification. Interestingly, the bones seem to have fos-"
an audible crash is heard

Incident XXXX-02, 3/14/████
[confidential]
Leaking information about Incident XXXX-02 will be met with strong consequences. Just be thankful I don't feed you all to SCP-682, for your gross neglegence in my absence. -Dr. Chambers
Incident XXXX-03, 5/05/████ This is a brief summary of the events
A D class accidentally fell off the catwalk, and landed back first into SCP-XXXX. Incident 03 had halted research for 3 weeks.
Interviews File
Interview 1
Interviewed: Subject XXXX-001
Interviewer: MedBay 15, Staff No. 12
Date: [DATA CORRUPTED]
M15-12: "Subject 001, you've been sending in a lot of reports to security, correct?"
001: "Yes."
M15-12: "Please describe your reports, speak directly into the microphone."
001: "I've been consistently seeing non-Foundation people roam the halls, along with stray dogs, cats, rats… Everywhere. This place is 3 miles underground, how the Hell is this possible?"
M15-12: "Security has investigated your reports and haven't been able to confirm your reports.
M15-12 pauses
M15-12: "You look exhausted, you may just be experiencing hallucinations due to lack of sleep."
001: "Maybe you're right. I've just been having some fucked up dreams."
M15-12: "Please elaborate."
001: "It's been the same dream every night. I wake up in a room, but I can't see the walls, almost like they're all too far away, or there not being enough light. The ground is covered with bones and decaying flesh. Above me, looking down is a quadrupedal hairless mammal, or reptilian, I can't tell."
M15-12: "You said above you, can you describe what that means?"
001: "Above me as in it's so tall it towers over me. If I had to guess, maybe 20 meters tall? Hanging underneath it are a bunch of orange, translucent tendrils that have red spheres down the length of them. Every now and then a tendril will stab into me, and a new sphere will appear, turning redder as it grows. It feels like having my flesh cut into small ribbons and sucked through a straw."
M15-12: "Interesting. I will assign you a therapist, for the time being, you will be required to keep a dream journal."
Interview 2
Interviewed: Subject XXXX-002
Interviewer: Dr. Chambers
Date: [DATA CORRUPTED]
Dr. Chambers: "M15-12, I understand you've requested to talk to me."
002: "I have. I do not have much time left, and I must tell you what I know about SCP-XXXX. Do not let anyone touch the desiccated bodies. It allows for that thing… That crea-"
it should be noted that Subject 002 has seized up.
Dr. Chambers: "Prepare a stasis tube, we need to stabilize 12 now."
Gohar's Journal
When retrieving SCP-XXXX, many artifacts were found at the site, including clothes, jewelry, wallets, a few cellphones from vastly different years, and most interesting of all, a leather journal written by one Gohar Ari. Said journal is currently being translated from ████████, see below.
