Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object class: Safe
Special containment procedure When not in use SCP-XXXX is to be locked in locker 112 until needed, anyone with level 2 access or higher may request use of SCP-XXXX from the site director.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a [REDACTED] brand defibrillator, it is 80 by 80 centimeters at the base and 40 centimeters tall. It has two detachable paddles that, when supplied with adequate power, will send out a shock of roughly to 400 volts to whatever comes into contact with both pads.
It was recovered from [REDACTED] memorial hospital on 1/12/19██ after several instances of SCP-XXXX-1 where created and Foundation agents intercepted emails of Dr.[REDACTED] asking colleges for assistance in studying the created instances of SCP-XXXX-1.
The civilians in the hospital were administered class D amnesics and any information regarding SCP-XXXX and any instances of SCP-XXXX-1 was wiped from the hospital server. The interior of SCP-XXXX is easily accessible and appears to look and behave like a normal defibrillator would, including normalizing irregular heartbeats and resuscitating test subjects. However if a subject is brain dead and an electric shock is applied1, the subject will regain consciousness almost immediately and become an instance of SCP-XXXX-1.
SCP-XXXX-1 after gaining consciousness will normally be confused about their current situation, and if there are external injuries sustained with SCP-XXXX-1 death it will react with distress to them. However they will still claim to feel no pain from the initial injuries. Though SCP-XXXX-1 is capable of movement and physiological analysis shows that SCP-XXXX-1 either is, or thinks it is the same person prior to death and interaction with SCP-XXXX. However SCP-XXXX-1 is dead and will continue to decay as such, with added wear that is expected from movement. This usually causes the subject great distress, testing shows that subjects do respond to intense stimuli like pain with expected reactions, though it is felt less the closer said stimuli gets to injuries sustained prior to exposure to SCP-XXXX. Interviews done during later stages of decomposition reveal that instances of SCP-XXXX-1 can feel the effects of decay on their body with some attempting self termination.
Though the brain matter decays at its normal rate SCP-XXXX-1 only experiences a 20% drop in function in the first 3-5 days after interaction of SCP-XXXX before stopping, even after brain matter either has decayed bond that point before exposure or being completely removed before or after exposure. No method has been tested that can "kill" or render SCP-XXXX-1 unconscious, the only way to make SCP-XXXX-1 inert is either wait until all muscle has degraded to the point it no longer functions or forcefully remove all flesh from the skeleton2. This leaves SCP-XXXX-1 unable to move or process new stimuli and can be safely transported to site R-223 for storage and further examination.
Addendum- all testing must be done in conjunction with the debriefing and interrogation department because of the increased threat of SCP-XXXX suffering a catastrophic failure due to its age and uncertainty of being able to replace parts without removing its anomalous properties.
