Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be held at Site-11. SCP-XXXX is to be housed within a solid 5m by 5m clear acrylic cube, suspended 10 feet in the air by iron chains at each of its four top corners. The cell’s inner surfaces are to be covered in a dense layer of mold. In the center of the room, directly under the cube, a living American hornbeam tree is to be shaped so that it’s branches create a cage-like structure around the cube, open at the top. The cell is to remain at a constant temperature of 27 degrees Celsius, with a humidity level of 80%. The cell is to remain relatively dark, as to both allow for mold growth and keep SCP-XXXX placated. Once daily, D-class personnel are to enter SCP-XXXX’s containment in order to feed SCP-XXXX and perform normal upkeep on the tree to ensure its continued health. D-class personnel are to wear standard protective gloves coated with mold while feeding SCP-XXXX. SCP-XXXX is to be fed ten kilograms of bone tissue per day. The tissue is to be infused with light sedatives. Feeding is to be done by placing the bone tissue atop the cube via provided ladders, at which point SCP-XXXX will begin feeding on it. Mold buildup on the top of the cube may have to be scraped away to feed SCP-XXXX. If kept fed, SCP-XXXX will remain passive and make no attempt to breach containment. SCP-XXXX is to be monitored at all times via security cameras within its cell. If at any time SCP-XXXX exits the acrylic cube, 4 D-class personnel are to enter containment in order to grab SCP-XXXX and place it back into the cube. Time is imperative in these situations, as SCP-XXXX will begin to suffocate once outside the cube, and will attempt to rip away the mold in order to enter the floor and breach containment.
In the event of SCP-XXXX breaching containment, an AR-500 response is to be activated for the entirety of Site-11 to prevent further containment breaches. Retrieval of the subject is considered an C-class priority due to the possibility of it disabling on-site machinery used for containment of other subjects. On-site security forces are to engage SCP-XXXX using nets and blunt weaponry created out of living tissues. Security personnel are to place bone tissue infused with heavy anesthetics around the facility in an attempt to incapacitate SCP-XXXX. Nearby emergency services are to be monitored for reports that may indicate SCP-XXXX has fully escaped Site-11. In the event of SCP-XXXX fully escaping Site-11, Mobile Task Force Epsilon-11 (Nine-Tailed-Fox) or other available MTFs are to be called upon to re-contain the entity.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a blue metallic squid of an unknown inorganic material resembling blue ████████. Measuring 1.5 meters in length, and weighing approximately 73 kg. Origins are currently unknown. SCP-XXXX’s tentacles are lined with short, inward curving spikes rather than suckers. It utilizes these spikes to grab, attack, and feed with. These spikes are able to rip apart flesh with effort, but not bone. It possesses a beak that is able to easily break apart bone tissue and rocks.
Its diet consists primarily of bone tissue, which it scavenges from either decomposed organisms underground or live prey. It is generally indifferent towards humans, and is only known to attack when it feels threatened or is hunting. Unlike normal species of squid, it exhibits a very low flight response, and prefers to fight off potential threats. Similar to normal species of squid, it is very light-sensitive. Before containment, it resided in the city of St. Louis. It thrives in urban and city environments due to the small amount of plant life, high concentrations of small prey, and large amounts of concrete and metal to traverse through.
SCP-XXXX possesses the ability to anomalously “swim” through solid matter, seemingly without damaging or misplacing any of the matter while within it. Is able to breathe in some fashion within solid matter, as it will begin to show signs of distress and suffocation when outside of solid matter. Tests have shown SCP-XXXX to be able to swim within liquid water to the same ability of a normal squid. However, it is unable to breathe while within the liquid. It is unable to anomalously swim through organic, living tissues.
When not swimming, SCP-XXXX does not move any further within the solid, allowing it to stay in place and rest safely. SCP-XXXX has shown an ability to swim through dirt, albeit at lower efficiency than through concrete or metal due to the large number of living organisms within it. SCP-XXXX has been observed using its spikes to scratch away small plant life. It is theorized that it also uses these spikes to scrape away organisms or roots while underground.
It is unknown how SCP-XXXX is able to navigate while within unclear solids. Testing has shown that while swimming through Machinery, such as a car, function of that device will cease until SCP-XXXX has exited it, at which point it will have suffered no damage (see Addendum 1). Pre-containment events have proven that SCP-XXXX can activate its ability at will to prevent damage, as bullets shot at SCP-XXXX appeared to phase through it (see Discovery).
Feeding is performed by SCP-XXXX gripping available bone tissue via its spiked tentacles, and pulling them into its beak. It then crushes and consumes the tissue, before retreating. When feeding on live specimens, it uses its spikes to eviscerate the target. It then feeds on its skeletal structure, consuming 100% of the structure in the process and leaving the body behind.
Discovery: On February 17th, 20██, at 5:39 a.m., a 9-11 call was made to the █████████████████ Police Department, detailing two crashed cars on State Highway 141. Emergency services arrived on the scene eight minutes later, and began to extinguish a fire from one of the cars while searching the second for survivors. It was in the second car that they encountered SCP-XXXX, which was in the process of consuming the skeleton of an adult male within the car. At this point, officer ██████ opened fire on the SCP-XXXX, to no effect. Feeling threatened, SCP-XXXX then attacked officer ██████, ripping apart his throat down to the bone using its spiked feeding tentacles. After witnessing this, officer ████████ radioed for backup and frantically explained the situation (see transmission log).
The message was then intercepted by Foundation agents implanted within the SLMPD. The entity described was determined to be anomalous. Based on its apparent ability to pass through solid matter, Mobile Task Force Epsilon-9 “Fire Eaters” was called in to capture the entity for containment. They arrived soon after the broadcast was intercepted, and reported no survivors from the emergency team. The bodies had been reportedly “ripped apart”, but with no visible damage to any victim's protective gear or clothing. Bullet holes were present in numerous places within the highway. SCP-XXXX was seen consuming the skeleton of a corpse. Upon seeing the members of MTF Epsilon-9, it ceased feeding and entered the highway. SCP-XXXX then re-surfaced from the highway and lashed out at agent ██████. Before it could reach Agent ██████, three agents opened fire with flamethrowers. This caused no physical damage to SCP-XXXX, but scared it to to the point of retreating into the highway. Once surfacing a second time, SCP-XXXX ripped apart agent ████████’s lower left leg, causing him to fall towards it. Agent ████████ attempted to attack the entity by hitting it with his weapon, with no results. SCP-XXXX then ripped away his right forearm and half of his face. This prompted two agents proceed to throw fragmentation grenades towards SCP-XXXX. They detonate successfully, disorienting the entity and throwing it into a nearby tree.
Remaining MTF agents surrounded SCP-XXXX, which was unable to move properly or enter the tree. It falls down into the tree’s exposed root structure and attempted to enter the ground. Entity begins to show signs of asphyxiation. MTF agents restrain SCP-XXXX using their exposed hands, at which point it begins to struggle, though weakly. In its concussed and asphyxiated state, SCP-XXXX is able to be moved onto the transport vehicle and placed into a slab of concrete taken from Highway 11, surrounded by branches taken on-site. It is then taken to, and continues to be contained at, Site-11. False information was created and spread that a car crash and subsequent gas explosion caused the damage to the highway and the deaths of the medical personnel involved.

Addendum 1: 2/28/██: Dr. ██████ Test Log
Procedure: SCP-XXXX is brought from containment into a testing cell via an acrylic cube surrounded by thick vines. Bone tissue infused with heavy sedatives is fed to SCP-XXXX approximately one hour before testing. The cell’s inner surfaces are covered in a thick layer of mold. The cell contains a Dell Laptop, a 20██ Honda Accord, And a spotlight. A heavily sedated SCP-XXXX is handled by 3 researchers. Tentacles are inserted into the mechanical devices and attempted to be operated as normal.
Test XXXX-01: SCP-XXXX enters Dell Laptop. Attempting to activate device yields no results. Activates as normal once SCP-XXXX exits device.
Test XXXX-02: SCP-XXXX enters spotlight. Attempting to activate device yields no results. Activates as normal once SCP-XXXX exists device.
Test XXXX-03: SCP-XXXX enters spotlight while activated. Upon entering device, device de-activates until SCP-XXXX exits device.
Test XXXX-04: SCP-XXXX enters 20██ Honda Accord. Attempting to activate device yield no results. Activates as normal once SCP-XXXX exits device.
Notes: Testing of SCP-XXXX with non-organic SCP’s is currently pending authorization.
