Item #: SCP-3679

Object Class: Keter

Threat Level: Red

Special Containment Procedures: Due to the nature of SCP-3679, containment is currently not possible. In the event that a manifestation of SCP-3679 is detected, it is to be reported to the Site Director of the site which has been affected.

Description: SCP-3679 is a phenomena in which places or objects related to the SCP Foundation spontaneously, and without warning, cease to exist or are otherwise fundamentally changed. All physical traces, documentation, and memory of the affected thing reflect such changes. It is unknown how or why SCP-3679 functions, as well as the process through which places or objects are chosen to be affected.

Anomaly Documentation Author Steven Rasmussen of Site-127 is currently the only known thing capable of detecting SCP-3679. The discovery of additional people or objects which can observe the effects of SCP-3679 is to be considered top pr

There's no way I could submit something like this to the curator. If I told anybody about this I would have my career ruined and be given a one-way ticket to the Mental Illness Center. But I know what that this is happening. I suppose jotting my thoughts down could help me rationalize all of this.

I first noticed it about 3 months ago. I was writing the documentation for a sphere that could relocate whoever was touching it into another dimension when the document just vanished. I thought maybe it was sleep deprivation, and it was just a hallucination, so I went to bed. When I woke up and walked down to the research lab, the sphere was gone. I asked around and it seemed like nobody knew what I was talking about. The sphere had been replaced by something I had never seen before.

Due to the nature of my work, I didn't have much time to dwell on this occurrence. Everything was relatively normal until it happened again, about 2 weeks later. I was on my way to the containment chamber of my latest project, and as I rounded a corner, I saw that there was nothing. No containment chamber, no testing chambers, nothing. In fact, the entire wing of the facility no longer existed. Everyone I talked to said that there had never been anything there, that it was always just a dead-end, and on the other side of the wall, solid stone. Since then, it has happened 7 more times, three of which were in the past week. The pasta pot is gone. So is the feminine tree, and the jeep.

I somehow need to know whats going on, and find out if anyone else has noticed.

Have you noticed anything weird lately?

Such as…?

Well I don't know, nothing in particular I suppose. Have you ever had that feeling when you experience something and nobody seems to believe you?

I mean I guess… Are you feeling alright? I could cover some work for you if you need to go down to medical.

Don't worry about it man. But hey promise me one thing, if you do notice anything out of the ordinary (aside from your normal everyday anomaly) be sure to tell me, yeah?

Well over the past few days I've come up with some ideas. I've heard rumors from the Physics Depertment about something called "Kant Counters", allegedly they measure how "real" an area is. There was also something about sand, I don't know if that was related, though. I'm going to try to see if I can snag one of these things from someone in that department.

Hey Julia, would it be possible if I could borrow one of those Kant Counter things for a day?

Why do you need one? It's not like you do research, you just write down what the actual researchers tell you.

I wan't to see how they work. I've always been fascinated with physics, you know.

Normally I would say no and notify a superior, but since it's you I suppose I could lend one to you. Don't go flaunting it around, though, if someone sees you with it and decides to report it, I could be in serious trouble. Come down to Storage Room 2C in hall 24 tomorrow morning and i'll set you up with one.

Big news today. I walked around the halls near the affected areas with the Kant Counter and saw that in all cases, there were more Humes detected than normal, approx. 5.21. I knew it. I knew I'm not going mad.
