Item #: SCP-BEAR

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: Bear resides in a complex of linked enclosures replicating as closely as possible the biome and landscape of Canada's Northwest Territories during the mid nineteenth century. At least five such enclosures should be accessible by bear simultaneously, including at least one with a river, brook, or otherwise ersatz watercourse.

The current primary housing forms the northern border of Site 47B/6, with option to move bear to secondary accommodation at Site ZZ9 (Plural Z Alpha) for grooming.

Description: Bear is a bear.

To maintain muscle tone and friendly demeanour, bear should be fed continuously on a diet of live Chinook salmon. Bear will instinctively visit rivers when hungry. Enclosures with running watercourses provide an ideal means for the introduction of fresh fish at mealtimes.

Bear is diurnal and appreciates rest areas, shade, pools, South Korean fantasy drama, and opportunities both for social interaction and for avoiding other bears.

Even within captivity, bear is known to consume an occasional unwary backpacker wandering too close to the site boundary. This behaviour is opportunistic and not essential for proper nutrition, but may result in improved mood and glossiness of coat and should not be discouraged. The Foundation's Disinformation/Marketing-Communications department maintains an expectation of sporadic backpacker disappearances in the surrounding regions, through local media manipulation and socially distributed anecdote.
