Special Containment Procedures: [STILL BEING WRITTEN]
Description: SCP-XXXX is an unused telecommunications tower located in ███████████████ █████, ██████. Photographs of SCP-XXXX show no signs of rusting on its surface and thermal imaging shows that SCP-XXXX's temperature remains constant at 75 C°.
When a subject is in a certain distance from SCP-XXXX (currently hypothesized to be 7 km), the subject will begin undergo a series of neurochemical alterations. The severity of the symptoms is proportional to the proximity of the subject to SCP-XXXX. The following table marks the symptoms frequently documented in experiments and the distance these symptoms may usually appear:
| Distance between the subject and SCP-XXXX | Symptoms the subject may undergo at this distance |
|---|---|
| 5-7 kilometers | Most subjects report of mild dizziness at this point, no further symptoms |
| 2.5 kilometers | Most subjects report of nausea and headaches, no further symptoms |
| 1.25 kilometers | Most subjects report of fatigue, dizziness, and loss of balance, no further symptoms |
| 1000 meters | Most subjects report of uneasiness, numbness on their extremities, pain behind the eyes, blurry vision, and frequent headaches, no further symptoms |
| 750 meters | Most subjects begin to experience symptoms of anterograde amnesia, recurring unpleasant thoughts, paranoia, difficulty hearing, hallucinations, frequent tremors, disinhibited behavior, and difficulties in focusing, no further symptoms |
| 500 meters | Hallucinations become more frequent and most subjects display signs of aphasia, frequent and sudden distress, excessive thirst, excessive urge to urinate, slurred speech, paralysis in the extremities, visual agnosia, frequent muscle spasms that can lead to injury, prosopagnosia, colorblindness, photophobia, distorted perception, inability to blink without conscious control, increased sensitivity to pain, violent behavior, and frequent and abrupt changes in behavior and mood, no further symptoms have been discovered |
| 250 meters | Most subjects tend to lose consciousness at this point |
| < 250 meters | [REDACTED] |
Listed effects gradually become more severe if the subject remains in one location for an unspecified amount of time (e.g. subject's eyesight deteriorates further or violent behavior becomes more apparent and frequent). Without proper precautions, minor symptoms caused by SCP-XXXX's anomalous property usually disappear 3-4 hours after the subject leaves SCP-XXXX's area of effect while more severe symptoms tend to take more time to disappear (e.g. 5 months to 10 years) or are entirely permanent with no known treatment. Autopsy reports from non-████████████ victims of SCP-XXXX show severe deterioration and missing tissue on the limbic system and frontal lobe.
