Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept in a secure storage locker. Level 1 security clearance is required to access SCP-XXXX. SCP-XXXX may be used for recreational purposes as a ‘party game,’ but must be cleared by the Site Manager.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a childrens’ toy used to play ‘duck-duck-goose.’ Manufacturing origin and/or date is unknown. SCP-XXXX is dome-shaped with an LED light ring around the outer edge, measuring 30 centimeters in diameter. The peak of the dome houses the various controls which are used to operate the toy. When SCP-XXXX is powered on, a speaker housed inside the dome emits a tone. The light ring illuminates solid red. If four or more people sit in a circle around SCP-XXXX, the light ring turns green, and the game begins. The light ring illuminates in sections, indicating the person in front of that light section has been ‘selected.’ SCP-XXXX always ‘points’ in the direction of a person, regardless of how many people are playing or how far apart they are. As SCP-XXXX ‘points’ from person to person in a clockwise direction, a female voice from the speaker says ‘duck’ or ‘goose.’ If SCP-XXXX says ‘goose,’ the indicated player will immediately transform into a male Canadian goose, regardless of their gender. A Mallard duck will appear behind and to the left of the ‘goose’ and begin to run around the outside of the circle. If the ‘goose’ catches up to the duck before the duck circles the ring of players, they will transform back into their human form. If the player is unsuccessful, they will remain a goose until SCP-XXXX is switched off, upon which they will transform back into human form.
SCP-XXXX was retrieved from the a daycare facility in Arcadia, Missouri, following reports of children being transformed into aquatic birds. The staff of the daycare and the children involved were administered Class A amnestics and the rumor about the transformations has been dispelled.
