Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be contained in a standard Anomalous Weapons trunk (currently at Site-██). The room said trunk is placed in should be securely closed and locked, and resistant to forceful entry up to and including a breach of the walls by a heavily-armored vehicle. Experimentation with SCP-XXXX is to be subject to approval by a staff member of Level 4 clearance or higher. Experiments should be conducted in an on-site test facility equipped with armor-piercing weaponry capable of severing limbs. Should SCP-XXXX-1 break containment, the Site Response Team is to engage immediately. If other site personnel come into contact with SCP-XXXX-1, all efforts should be put towards severing the arms of the creature so that it can no longer wield SCP-XXXX. If transportation is necessary, SCP-XXXX should not be directly handled by human hands, even with gloves or other protective layers. Instead, personnel should use UTV-XXXX ("Knight Errant") to transport the object to testing or containment locations.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a falchion-style broadsword of indeterminate origin 1.5 meters long. The object appears to be organic in nature, with the blade seemingly comprised of bone. Small horns or spikes of bone project from the base of the blade and along the hooked portion at its top. However, the Foundation is currently unable to determine the exact nature of the material comprising the object, as it is resistant to all attempts at drilling, chipping, or mass spectrography.
Personnel who come within about 1 meter of SCP-XXXX have described a feeling of "wrongness" or "alienness" about it. Those with above-average hearing describe a faint "keening" at the edge of their hearing. This sound can either be very low or very high depending on the individual, and the variation does not seem to depend on any physical quality of the hearer.
Should a human grasp the handle of SCP-XXXX, they will become the entity hitherto referred to as SCP-XXXX-1. Large plates and horns of bone appear on their bodies, violently rising from the subject's skin into a kind of armor. In addition, all nearby personnel will begin to hear the "keening" sound, despite individual hearing capacity, and the blade of SCP-XXXX will begin to emit green and black flames no longer than a few centimeters.
SCP-XXXX-1 is a hostile and aggressive entity. The creature demonstrates dramatically increased strength, speed, durability, and agility from that of the original subject (Addendum 1: Experiment XXXX-C has confirmed that each instance of SCP-XXXX-1 possesses the same physical attributes as the previous one, as long as SCP-XXXX does not kill anyone). Mental attributes remain the same as they were at the moment of conversion. The creature will begin to speak in a heavily degraded version of the original subject's voice, typically to shout a speech or chant (See Addendum 2) reflecting ideas similar to those expressed in social-Darwinist ideologies. If injured, the creature will screech or roar, but otherwise will continue the speech unchanged.
When SCP-XXXX-1 wields SCP-XXXX, the blade demonstrates remarkable cutting properties. When first discovered, the object could scratch objects with a Mohs hardness of 9, but not 10, and cuts it made left very little powder. At the current time, SCP-XXXX appears to be able to cut cleanly through the hardest materials the Foundation has access to with proper application of force, breaking molecular bonds at the atomic level. Site nuclear researchers have detected very faint, low-level fission taking place at the blade's edge, suggesting that SCP-XXXX is splitting the atoms of the air it moves through. Combined with SCP-XXXX-1's formidable strength, the object is extremely dangerous when wielded.
Should SCP-XXXX-1 successfully kill a human being with the object, a wave of green and black flame will be emitted from the wounds of the victim. This flame will pass into SCP-XXXX-1, and its physical attributes and intelligence will increase as if the physical and mental acuity of the victim were "added onto" the creature.
As of the current time, SCP-XXXX-1 has successfully killed ██ personnel, including D-class inmates. Instances of SCP-XXXX-1 become increasingly more difficult to eliminate with each successful killing, owing not only to the increased physical attributes, but also to the increased intelligence, reaction time, and strategic ability the specific instance of SCP-XXXX-1 gains after each of its own kills.
Should SCP-XXXX-1 lose control of the object, typically by severing the hand or limb that holds it, the instance will perish instantly. Additional bony plating will dissolve into green vapor over the course of 10-15 seconds, which will then disperse within 5-8 seconds, leaving no identifiable traces. Dissected subjects have been found to have increased muscle and bone density, tendon and ligament strength, and blood oxygen capacity. However, the brains of subjects are universally degraded, with large areas of gray matter smoothed and unfolded, and white matter dissolved into fluid.
Discovery: SCP-XXXX was uncovered as part of a sting operation conducted on a facility of the Chaos Insurgency in █████████, █████. Found hovering above a pedestal of similar apparent construction to itself, the object was recovered using standard Anomalous Materials handling procedures. Its properties were only discovered when Researcher ██████ attempted to pick it up to test its weight. This first instance of SCP-XXXX-1 killed █ personnel before a guard managed to blast its arm off with a shotgun at point-blank range.
Incident Report XXXX-XII: During Experiment XXXX-F, Researcher Maudai attempted to discover what would happen if two people seized SCP-XXXX at the same time. A pair of D-class personnel were sent into the test chamber, where SCP-XXXX had been driven up to the hilt into a granite block. The two were ordered by the researcher to grasp the handle at the same moment. When this occurred, SCP-XXXX began to emit flames as normal. However, the D-class personnel exhibited no physical change. Their faces contorted into grimaces, and they seemed to be fighting to keep their eyes concentrated on the blade of the object. Eventually, one of the D-class broke eye contact, and the other immediately drew the blade and cut him in half. The remaining D-class transformed into SCP-XXXX-1 as normal, with the additional physical and mental attributes of the victim. The instance was heard to say "Only one has the strength to rule" before attempting to breach containment. Instance was put down by test chamber weapons systems.
Addendum 2: The following is a transcript of the most recent instance of SCP-XXXX-1's speech, as of ██/██/████. It is a fine representative of the theme of the various instances' speeches.
You have betrayed the dark, and allowed the light to corrupt your purer nature. The light is weak. The light would have you fat and drooling on the floor. You are round and blunt, utterly imperfect, fit only to feed the strong. You believe the lie the light tells you, that light is good and fat is fit and to be round is to be the rightful ruler. The dark understands this lie. It understands the lie the light tells you. Only the strong are fit to rule. Those you call strong are weak, and those you call weak are strong. You wear your imperfect shapes, content to fatten on the lies of the light, unwilling to hear the call the dark sends you. The dark loves you. But it hates the light, just as the light hates you. It wants to kill the light. To kill the lie within your minds. To return itself to your hearts. Let in the dark. Let the final, perfect shape consume you. Become strong on the fat of the weak, and on the muscle and bone of those who thought they were strong. Kill the weak, and by this return them in love to the dark. Give your fat, your mind and heart, to the dark. Release yourself to its grasp, until only a blade remains. Become the blade. Become the final evolution of reality. Eat reality.
