Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures:
Between the hours of 4 p.m. and 10 p.m. the elevators of █████████ Hotel should be monitored and watched for the appearance of an SCP-XXXX scenario. Foundation agents are to be placed on-site at █████████ Hotel under the guise of staff in an effort to keep watch over and contain potential SCP-XXXX scenarios. For all intents and purposes, the hotel should be operated as a normal hotel, with D-class being used as patrons only when completely necessary.

The hotel should be staffed entirely by foundation personnel, and refuse any assistance from staff from floor 24. If an entity calling themself "The Receptionist," deemed SCP-XXXX-1, manifests in the lobby of the hotel between the hours of 4 p.m. and 10 p.m., foundation personnel are to immediately notify Site-45, and await mobilization of MTF Lambda-14. Should the entity bring up the residents of floor 24 or request any forms of religious media for the residents of floor 24, agents are to refuse all requests and offers until the entity leaves or assistance arrives. At no point should the entity be referred to as "The Receptionist," and if possible, personnel should avoid using names during conversation.

If the entity manifests outside of this time frame, or stays past this time frame, foundation personnel are to engage the entity in conversation with statements pertaining to the renovations of floor 24. After four minutes of discussion, foundation personnel are to notify the entity that he has overstayed his welcome, and state that the residents of floor 24 are requesting assistance. From this point forward, foundation personnel are to abstain from interaction with the entity despite its requests until they return to floor 24.

If the total residency of █████████ Hotel reaches 0 disregarding foundation agents on-site, 14 D-class are to be placed within rooms throughout the hotel, placed on floors 2 and 4. For the next 24 hours foundation personnel are to lock the doors and leave the hotel. No personnel are allowed to enter the hotel or leave until SCP-XXXX-1 reopens the main hotel doors. Extraction of the D-class is not to be attempted until personnel are notified that renovations are complete by SCP-XXXX-1 via a phone call to the lobby. Following the extraction of the remaining D-class, personnel are to continue their normal duties.

Foundation personnel are also to be stationed on floors 21, 22, and 23, on standby for the manifestation of an SCP-XXXX scenario during the hours of 4 p.m. and 10 p.m. These personnel however, are not to be permanent residents of the hotel, and should find residence in a nearby housing facility apart from the hours they are stationed. Should a scenario occur, personnel are to enter the elevators, and encourage the person who triggered the scenario, deemed SCP-XXXX-2 to return to their floor. If SCP-XXXX-2 enters floor 24, personnel are to accompany them throughout their stay, and if necessary, use force to return them back to their floor. It is recommended to convince SCP-XXXX-2 to return to their floor during their stay on floor 24 rather than forcing them to return, as to avoid the intervention of SCP-XXXX-1. Upon their return SCP-XXXX-2 should be amnesticized and monitored for the remainder of their stay.

If personnel fail to return SCP-XXXX-2 to their proper floor, all personal belongings residing within their previous room should be immediately destroyed. Provided pictures of the resident's stay at the hotel are to be posted onto the hotel's website with a caption that acknowledges the futility of life and the happiness found in surprises. All mention of SCP-XXXX-2 are to be expunged from the hotel's data, and staff on-site are to return any previous companions of SCP-XXXX-2 home. Following this, they are to be amnesticized and notified of SCP-XXXX-2's extended stay.

Description: [Paragraphs explaining the description]
SCP-XXXX is the designation given to an event that occurs following the entrance of a person in the elevators of █████████ Hotel. The event is more likely to occur when a person described feelings of being unfulfilled during their stay. SCP-XXXX also seems to only manifest when a person initially enters the elevator alone, deemed SCP-XXXX-2. People unaware of the effects of SCP-XXXX will avoid the elevators until SCP-XXXX-2 has exited the elevator on floor 24. To date, 29 events have been recorded, with 24 of the events being properly contained, apart from foundation testing.

SCP-XXXX occurs following the entrance of SCP-XXXX-2 into one of the two elevators located within the hotel during the hours of 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. During these hours, the manifestation of a button will occur on the elevator panel, listing a 24th floor despite the hotel's original floors only going to the 15th floor. During the trip, SCP-XXXX-2 is described as going completely stiff, and describing their greatest desires until arriving at the 24th floor. The trip itself varies upon how many desires the subject describes, and regardless of the distance, seems to only end when SCP-XXXX-2 is content with their listed desires. Upon arrival, SCP-XXXX-2 will cease all previous actions and stand in the elevator silently until SCP-XXXX-1 enters to greet them. At this point SCP-XXXX-2 will return to their previous state, and will often express extreme confusion.

Floor 24 has been expressed as extremely alluring, with residents of the floor being offered what they had requested in the elevator before entering. The floor itself resembles a large one-story mall more than it resembles a hotel floor, with a large expanse of restaurants, shops, and other venues available to SCP-XXXX-2. The hotel room of SCP-XXXX-2 differs depending on what the subject desires, and does not seem to conform to any one size. The floor operates outside of our reality, as testing has revealed that the Scranton readings surrounding the floor vary wildly based on our reality, and the general measurements of the floor are wildly inconsistent with what should be possible.

Time also seems to pass strangely on the floor, with clocks always being between the hours of 4 p.m. and 10 p.m. Any time pieces taken into the floor will adjust to the time zone within the floor, and despite operating on a 6 hour time frame, subjects have described the 6 hours as dragging on longer than expected. Residents show confusion when any time out of this 6 hour time frame is mentioned, despite other hours being listed on the time pieces within the floor. Personnel accompanying subjects on the floor are discouraged from mentioning time on the floor to avoid conflict

The staff and residents of floor 24 have been described as extremely unsettling. Subjects who have returned from the floor have described a feeling consistent with the idea of the uncanny valley theory, with the residents and staff looking human but still being described as being vaguely unhuman. When asked for names or anything that can personally identify any one of them, residents of the floor will express extreme discomfort. Any attempts to communicate questions regarding the floor will only be met with praise of the floor, and any attempts to express discomfort over the floor or the resident's identity will be met with increased prevalence of SCP-XXXX-3.

SCP-XXXX-3 is the designation given to entities located on the floor that have been seen on rare occasions. They vaguely resemble humans, and are only seen in passing through corners in the corridors of the floor, or briefly in passing among the many residents on the floor. They can be distinguished by their constant groaning sounds, and when seen are only seen moving by dragging their limbs across the floor. They have been described as being extremely disfigured with limbs being "Unnaturally long" or having colors "In the wrong place." When asked about, residents of floor 24 express disgust, stating that they were previous residents and no longer deserve to reside on the floor. Examination has revealed on multiple occasions the slight resemblance between some instances of SCP-XXXX-3 and previous instances of SCP-XXXX-2 who could not be removed from the floor.

Residents of floor 24 as well as SCP-XXXX-1 have expressed disdain for the foundation, notably stating that they do not deserve to be on the floor. On December 12, 2006, following the population of the hotel reaching 0, residents of the floor anomalously appeared throughout the hotel, and proceeded to kill many of the foundation personnel present in the lobby. The residents only returned back to their floor when D-class personnel were placed in the rooms of the hotel taking advantage of the fire escape exits. Notably, only personnel on floors 2 and 4 of the hotel survived the resident's attacks. Residents of the floor returned to floor 24 only when SCP-XXXX-1 vocalized over the intercom that renovations were complete on floor 24. Containment procedures have been updated to reflect this breach.

SCP-XXXX-1 upon entry will notify SCP-XXXX-2 that they have 48 hours to notify them about extended stay on the floor. During this time apart from fulfilling requests, SCP-XXXX-1 will notify them of their remaining time on the floor. The only exit located on this floor is in the dining hall closest to the elevator, with multiple hand-written signs pointing to the door. Upon exit, subjects will find themselves on the fire escape outside of the tenth floor, and re-entry through the door will reveal only the tenth floor.

If SCP-XXXX-2 describes a desire outside of what they had previously stated, SCP-XXXX-1 will grow visibly distressed, and refuse any requests following this, apart from requests that can be commonly fulfilled by hotels. Any further mentions of new requests, or mention of religious materials will result in extreme anger from SCP-XXXX-1, and subjects have described feeling extremely anxious about further questioning of SCP-XXXX-1.

Should a subject stay longer than 48 hours, all subjects who entered alongside them will be transported to the fire escape of the tenth floor, regardless of whether or not they exited through the door. A single polaroid picture will also appear in the drawers of the front desk, depicting SCP-XXXX-2 smiling within the dining hall. This picture has been shown to cease most questions from people regarding the whereabouts of the subject in question, and for the most part, benefits the foundation in regards to stopping close members of the subject from questioning their whereabouts. As such, if a subject has not returned from the floor, it has been beneficial to publish the photo rather than amnesticize a large amount of people.

All personal belongings of SCP-XXXX-2 in the previous room will manifest their anomalous properties following 48 hours of the subject's disappearance. The anomalous effects occurs when a person claims ownership of an item that previously belonged to SCP-XXXX-2. The first anomalous effect of note is that subjects and people near the room will feel an extreme urge to take items from the room, and if the items are not exposed of for an extended periods of time, subjects will believe that the items have always belongs to them. Following a subject obtaining an item that belonged to SCP-XXXX-2, subjects will go to great lengths to fulfill their desires, expressing extremely violent tendencies, even to achieve goals that can be attained with minimal violence. Subjects express increased physical attributes, with one particular subject notably being able to break foundation containment, killing three foundation agents in the process.

With extended periods of exposure to an item taken from SCP-XXXX-2, subjects will become increasingly hostile, and their desires will become increasingly darker in nature. On occasion, subjects will enter a "dormant" phase, where rather than acting on violent urges, they seek people to claim ownership of the anomalous item. It is to be noted that regardless of whether the subject is still in ownership of the item or not, the subject will continue to show violent tendencies.

Approximately 30 days after initial exposure, subjects will express extreme pain and vocalize the need to return "back home." It has been assumed that they are referring to floor 24, however even in cases where subjects were placed into the elevators of █████████ Hotel, SCP-XXXX scenarios did not occur. Most notably the main effects of this state result in suicide and feelings of unfulfillment, as subjects are unable to fulfill their desires.
