Item #: SCP-5062
Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-5062 is to be contained in a secure stainless steel box in any O5 secure storage locker. Access to SCP-5062 is not to be permitted to any member of the foundation UNLESS there is unanimous approval from all currently active O5 board members.
Description: SCP-5062 resembles a solid aluminum (colored glossy silver) pocket watch with a jet-black fingerprint glyph on the back center (opposite the clock side). There is no knob on the side for adjusting the time and the clock hands seem to depict the local time in 12 hour format with complete accuracy. Across this object’s movement from various secure storage SCP sites, the hands seem to move as time zones change, again accurately predicting the timezone the pocket watch is present in.. The cause for this property is unknown, as all attempts to unscrew the 3 extremely small phillips head screws on the back side have proven to be strangely unsuccessful (See Addendum 5062-A).
The black fingerprint glyph on the back of SCP-5062 was subject to much experimentation before the SCP-5062’s subjection to the ANAO (Absolutely No Access Order). What was found was that upon interaction with the fingerprint glyph with any human finger (prints present or not), “linked” the watch to said person, hereinafter referred to as SCP-5062-1.
5062-1, being bound to the watch, experiences a strange effect. In the first recorded experiment, Dr. A██████ asked personnel D-342237 to interact with the fingerprint glyph. Upon doing so, the glyph on the back disappeared. After being asked several cognitive normality tests, there was no perceived change in 5062-1’s [D-342237] mental state. The doctor then picked up a 9mm pistol, aimed it at 5062-1, and died of a sudden heart attack. Upon the Doctor’s collapse and security personnel rushing in, 5062-1 was screaming:
HOLY ****! FINALLY! THAT ****ING THING WOULDN’T STOP! HOW LONG HAS IT BEEN!
Security moved to administer amnestics but were stopped by the supervising Dr. J██████. After 2 days of rehabilitation and high levels of treatment given, Dr. J██████ spoke with 5062-1 and recorded her results below:
5062-1 seems to believe that he had been subject to endless rounds of ammunition fired from Dr. A██████’s pistol to his skull, but right upon impact it would seem he had reverted to the state in his life right before being shot. He says he is sure this cycle happened for an infinite amount of time. He goes on to state that in various occasions he stood up and attempted to flee the bullet but was always either shot by Dr. A██████ or the security personnel stationed on either side of the room. It is my personal theory that the 5062, being linked to 5062-1, reverts 5062-1 to the point in which their death was not certain, where they exist in a sort of superposition from the perspective of 5062-1 and are subject to a sort of quantum immortality. The loop finally breaks when 5062-1 is not killed, and in this such scenario the cause for this was the heart attack of Dr. A██████. I am requesting the O5 to assign SCP-5062 the ANAO for fear of power tripping immortal personnel and, for all intents and purposes, the eternal torture of 5062-1.
Various further experiments concluded that 5062’s effects were active from any range, from less in the hands of 5062-1 to 9200 miles away. When linked to 5062-1, the only known way to “destroy” this link is to place 5062 inside of SCP-914 with the “1:1” setting. The returned object will be an unlinked SCP-5062 (with the fingerprint glyph present on its back side).
Addendum 5062-A:
On the contents of SCP-5062: 2 experiments have been carried out attempting to disassemble 5062 via the 3 small phillips-head screws on the back side. Each experiment, carried out by D-Class personnel, has resulted, in one case, of the personnel suffering a stroke, and the other dying of a heart attack. Based on Dr. J██████‘s theory, it can reasonably be interpreted that 5062 exhibits powers protecting itself by subjecting itself to the same state of quantum immortality normally affecting instances of 5062-1.
