Item #: SCP-5862
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-5862 is to be kept in a standard locked safe in a small room of at least 3x3 meters of Site-22's low-risk object containment wing, and is not to be accessed by any personnel without testing approval from a Level-3 Senior researcher at minimum.
In the case of attempted access by unauthorized personnel, security personnel without significant interest in romance assigned to the containment wing must attempt to capture, or terminate if necessary, the personnel. Captured personnel must be brought to Site-22's medical wing for Class-B amnestic treatment.
Any instances of 5862-2 must be given Class-B amnestic treatment. If 5862-2 is outside Foundation property, one Level-2 researcher along with one security personnel should be dispatched to administer treatment.
Description: SCP-5862 is an anomalous daisy flower1 with only six to nine petals per 'regeneration.' When in an approximately 3x3 meter area around SCP-5862, any human with a significant love interest [the affected personnel now referred to as SCP-5862-1] will immediately stop whatever actions they are doing, and turn towards the flower, sitting down and seeking to play a game of 'love me, or love me not' utilizing SCP-5862.
This game will always start with SCP-5862-1 picking off the top petal of the flower, starting with 'love me not.' The subject will continue to pick the petals off in clockwise order, until the last petal is pulled, at which two events may occur: A 'love me not' scenario (Designated Scenario 5862-A) or a 'loves me' scenario (Designated Scenario 5862-B.)
In the event of Scenario 5862-A, SCP-5862-1 will become highly agitated with strong feelings of resentment to whoever they feel a significant romantic affection for [now designated SCP-5862-2] and will attempt to hunt 5862-2, actively violent against any living entity getting in their way. It is theorized SCP-5862 causes these feelings by telepathic communication (See Log-1 and 2.)
In the event of Scenario 5862-B, 5862-2 will return affection to 5862-1, no matter their previous interactions. Once all the petals are picked off SCP-5862, they will slowly regenerate within fifteen hours, with a random number of petals going between six to nine. The current function of this regrowth is unknown, as it is capable of regeneration in both dark and light environments.
The effects of SCP-5862 do not appear to wear off over any period of time, and no current methods except amnestic treatment of 5862-1 in the case of Scenario 5862-A or 5862-2 in the case of Scenario 5862-B have been found effective to cancel out anomalous effects. If 5862-1 succeeds in killing 5862-2, 5862-1 will seemingly never express grief or remorse over 5862-2's death, however all other anomalous properties cease.

Document 5862-Log2: Recorded transcript of interview with D-5862-F (SCP-5862-1) after initiation of Scenario-5862-A and D-5862-F being restrained and lightly sedated. Interview conducted by Researcher Mark Yang, 1/19/20. Extraneous dialogue removed.
