Item #: SCP-####
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-#### is to be kept in a 15x16 square meter, climate-controlled chamber. Temperature of chamber is to be kept at -60 degrees Celsius at all times. Certain luxuries are afforded to SCP-####, such as a lyre it was found with composed of pearl with catgut strings, and a steady supply of new music sheets for SCP-#### to perform every 2 weeks. No further requests from SCP-#### will be accepted at this time. Physical interaction with SCP-#### must be approved by Chief Researcher ████ or any personnel with level 4 security clearance or higher outside of the regular deliveries of note sheets.
Description: SCP-#### resembles a human male and is believed to be roughly above 2,000 years old. Subject refers to itself as "Adonis". DNA testing has shown SCP-#### to be of Roman descent. SCP-#### is of thin-to-average build, standing at roughly 1.87 meters, and weighs 272 kg. It is unknown how it can weigh this much, given its anatomy. Hair is shoulder-length and white, irises are magenta in color. Skin is pale almost to the point of translucency, with the subject's bones and some organs being partially visible through it. While comatose, SCP-#### takes on the characteristics of a marble statue. Samples of the material SCP-#### is made of while in this state are impossible to gather, as SCP-#### has proven to be extremely difficult and hazardous to approach while in this state.
SCP-#### was located approximately ██ kilometers from ███████, Sicily after numerous reports of unseasonal snow in the region. Class-B Amnestics have been administered to the surrounding population. SCP-#### was taken without resistance.
It shows characteristics typical of an average human in terms of anatomy, internal organs, bone structure, and musculature. However, none of SCP-####'s organs appear to be functional. The heart does not beat, and no blood is even present in SCP-####'s body. Because of this, SCP-####'s internal temperature is dramatically lower than is possible in mammals. It is currently unknown how this is possible. SCP-####'s body temperature is recorded to be in between -124 and -194 degrees Celsius on average, but its temperature has been measured to be as low as █████████. Any temperature outside of this range is considered abnormal and should be reported immediately.
SCP-#### is generally cooperative with research staff. It should, however, be noted that SCP-#### is to be avoided due to dangers in prolonged exposure to it.Temperatures above 0 degrees Celsius will cause extreme discomfort in SCP-#### and it will become highly agitated, exhibiting primal behaviors and aggression. Temperatures above ████████ will put SCP-#### in a comatose state. While in this state, SCP-#### will take on the characteristics of a statue, with its skin becoming coated in a substance sharing similarities in appearance to marble. While unconscious, SCP-#### will cool surrounding air to absolute zero (-273.15 degrees Celsius) in a 1 kilometer radius. An IQ test has yet to be conducted on the subject, though it has displayed extremely high intelligence and photographic memory. Subject is given clothing, but prefers nudity.
SCP-#### has stated it has been present at many important historical events, including the First Council of Nicaea, the fall of the Carolingian Empire, the Hundred Years War, and █████ ██████ ███. SCP-#### can recall these events with stunning detail and accuracy, and has provided valuable insights into such events. SCP-#### appears to cause artistic inspiration in those it interacts with, causing personnel who have previously shown both little interest and talent in art to begin drawing portraits of Greco-Roman busts or writing poetry in their spare time.
SCP-#### has exhibited various cryokinetic abilities. It prefers to keep the walls and floor of its chambers encased in a thick layer of ice. Its abilities vary in strength, depending on factors such as the amount of water vapor in the surrounding air, temperature of said air, and internal temperature of SCP-####. Experimentation has been conducted in order to understand the scope of these abilities, and are recorded below.
Addendum:
Due to a malfunction in the climate control system in SCP-####’s chamber during a routine delivery of note sheets, SCP-#### entered its marble form and instantly froze and killed two facility personnel unconsciously. Personnel in the immediate area were evacuated and after SCP-#### regained consciousness, a special re-containment team was dispatched to the area to observe SCP-####’s condition and repair the climate control system. Areas surrounding the chamber were coated in a thick layer of ice and the use of █████████ acid was required to remove it. SCP-####’s chamber is to be kept on an independent power grid with no less than 2 backup generators, and routine inspection of the system is to be made.
Addendum:
SCP-#### was granted access to musical sheets after numerous requests.
Document ####-Log01: Notes of first experiment regarding cryokinetic abilities:
SCP-#### was presented with a liter of water in a bottle. Upon being asked to use the water to create ice, SCP-#### complied. Water was completely frozen in approximately .2 seconds. The resulting ice was put under stress tests, and is recorded to withstand pressures of 3,763 psi. Ice was recorded at ███ degrees Celsius, and shows an innate ability to remove excess heat from air surrounding it. Regular heat sources such as lighters, blowtorches, and boiling water proved ineffective in melting the ice, though napalm and powerful acids are successful in melting it. If SCP-#### is exposed to temperatures above 0 degrees Celsius, all of its ice will begin to melt simultaneously, even if kept in especially cold conditions separate from SCP-#### itself. Microscopic study of ice showed cellular activity in its crystal formations.
Document ####-Log02: Notes of second experiment regarding cryokinetic abilities:
SCP-#### was presented with another liter of water and instructed to construct a tool of his choosing with it. SCP-#### complied, creating a balance scale out of resulting ice. Resulting ice was identical to the ice of first experiment in terms of durability and temperature. A brief interview of SCP-#### was conducted regarding its abilities and choice of tool and is recorded below.
Document ####-Log03: Notes of third experiment regarding cryokinetic abilities:
SCP-#### was presented with a live goat, collected from a farm located in ██████, Wisconsin. SCP-#### was instructed to make physical contact with the goat. Upon placing its hand on the goat's left hind leg, it was frozen completely within 22 seconds. Autopsy of goat has shown cardiac atrophy, rupturing of veins due to blood vessels expanding while frozen, deep frostbite on nearly 100% of the body, and death on the cellular level due to extreme overexposure to cold.
Document ####-Log04: Notes on actions of SCP-#### during a containment breach:
Following a containment breach caused by SCP-████, SCP-#### was unintentionally released from its chamber for an undisclosed amount of time. During this time, SCP-#### is reported to have come across a wounded Dr. ██████, who was suffering from deep lacerations along the throat including the carotid artery, chest, and stomach area. Miraculously, SCP-#### tended to Dr. ██████ by freezing his wounds shut. SCP-#### and SCP-████ were both recontained. Before Dr.██████ could be given medical assistance, the ice in his wounds had caused rapid cellular replication in affected areas and were healed at a highly accelerated rate. SCP-#### was questioned about this, documented below.

Dr. Landa: During the experiment, you were asked to create an object of your choosing out of the water we provided you. Do you recall this?
SCP-####: I do.
Dr. Landa: When you were asked to accomplish this task, you produced what appeared to be a balance scale with your ice. Out of all the objects you could have chosen, why did you go with that?
SCP-####: It's a bit of a long explanation.
Dr. Landa: Please, indulge us.
SCP-####: [After a brief pause] Before I became what you see, I was a traveller. One of the many places I visited was Alexandria. As you probably know, it's located at the base of the Nile River. In times long ago, when someone died, the people of that area believed their soul would be weighed against a feather.
Dr. Landa: I'm familiar with that fable. It's the story with Osiris, right? That old Egyptian tale?
SCP-####: That's right. Osiris was the process of crossing over personified. He would put your heart on a golden scale and weigh it against the white feather of truth. It's why you find mummies with their hearts still inside.
Dr. Landa: So why did you choose this?
SCP-####: I… Identify with it, I suppose. I've perished in a way you couldn't understand. It's why I am the way I am. My heart… It's too encumbered to pass over, I fear.
Dr. Landa: I see. We've got what we need, for now. We appreciate your cooperation.

Dr. Landa: Hello, ####.
SCP-####: I am no less a man than you are.
Dr. Landa: I'm sorry?
SCP-####: You and your colleagues continue to call me by a number. I have a name.
Dr. Landa: And what would that be?
SCP-####: I am Adonis.
Dr. Landa: Right. My apologies. Hello, Adonis.
SCP-####: Hello, Dr. Landa.
Dr. Landa: Let's cut to the chase; You got out during the breach. Instead of trying to make it as far as you could through the facility, you tended to Dr. ██████. We'd like to know why.
SCP-####: [Silence]
Dr. Landa: It's in your best interest to answer the question.
SCP-####: I understand he is important to your organization. I decided he shouldn't die yet. Now he may continue in aiding your organization, and thus, the world.
Dr. Landa: How exactly could your ice heal him? We've never seen you do that before.
SCP-####: The cold is what gives me life. It’s what I shared with him.
Dr. Landa: Is this a new ability of yours?
SCP-####: Not new.
Dr. Landa: Is this something you're able to do often? A lot of people in here end up getting hurt. This ability could prove useful, don't you think?
SCP-####: It isn't without cost, doctor. Like I said, the cold is what gives me life. With each portion of the cold I share, the cold takes a portion of me.
Dr. Landa: I just don't understand. We all know the dangers of our work here. We live every day knowing it could be our last. Why would you jeopardize your immortal life just to extend the life of a mortal?
SCP-####: There is no such thing as an immortal. We all begin, and thus we all must end. You could say we share an acceptance of the inevitable. His life, his future research, his work here… His knowledge. I felt his was as valuable as my own.
Dr. Landa: I… I see. I think we've got enough for now. Thank you, ##- I mean, thank you, Adonis.

Interview 3:
Interview is conducted by Chief Researcher ████ at an undisclosed date and time. ████ refused any insulating clothing for the interview.
Interview conducted by ████ transcribed:

████: SCP-####. I’m here to question you about the escape attempt.
SCP-####: Where is Dr. Landa?
████: He will no longer be overseeing your containment. I am here in his place. Please pay attention to the questions and answer carefully.
SCP-####: [After a brief pause] As you wish.
████: What was the reason for your attempted escape?
SCP-####: It wasn’t an escape attempt. I couldn’t help what happened.
████: Explain.
SCP-####: Don’t you know what “Fight or Flight” is? It got too warm, so my body responded involuntarily.
████: You’re saying you had no control over your metamorphosis?
SCP-####: That would be correct.
████: Had we not acted as quickly as we did, your little episode could have cost us many lives. Don’t you think the possibility of this scenario is something we should have been made aware of?
SCP-####: I’m… I’m sorry. I didn’t think it would be necessary. It’s a harrowing experience, to just lose control of yourself and hurt others. It would have been painful to bring up.
████: [After a long pause] I think it’s time you explained why you allowed yourself within our custody.
SCP-####: [After a brief pause] I… Used to be able to control it. The cold. When I was younger, I thought of it as a gift. I could travel freely, forever, without worry. It wasn't until my recent life that I've come to understand that grave error. It's consuming me. It has become the force in control. I'm sorry, I truly am-
████: You’ll be undergoing a re-evaluation to determine if you should be classified as Keter or not. I’d advise you be on your best behavior, or this lofty containment you’ve been enjoying could get a lot worse. No further questions.
SCP-####: Please… Tell Dr. Landa that I’m sorry.
