Item #: SCP-5049
Object Class: Keter
Special Containment Procedures: Any and all known instances of SCP-5049 must be either terminated on sight or contained within a five by five meter enclosure and in no circumstance shall they be allowed to be released, even if it means termination of fellow staff members.
Any and all staff in the same building as any contained instances of SCP-5049 must have a firearm on hand at all times and if they hear any loud heartbeat phenomena in their ears they must drop their firearm and flee to a containment cell immediately until the phenomena stops, or the staff dies.
Description: SCP-5049 is a rare but extremely contagious virus that slowly takes control of a host's blood, eventually turning the blood acidic to the human body and eroding away all but the veins that hold the blood together. The virus is transmitted into a host through contact with infected blood, water, and depending on the density of instances, even air.
SCP-5049 instances, otherwise dubbed SCP-5049-2, are violent in nature, much akin to SCP-0049's human victims. Upon spotting a living creature, SCP-5049-2 instances will violently find any way of coming into contact with the creature, including but not limited to: violently crawling after the creature, attempting to climb up a wall, bursting blood veins to spread the infected blood further if the subject is out of reach, and hanging on the ceiling of a room and waiting to drop onto an unsuspecting creature.
SCP-5049 was first discovered in ████████, Arizona in ██20 in which several urgent phone calls where made to state police about "Living blood veins"
Transcript of a phone call between an undercover SCP agent as a police officer and a caller follows
Police: Hello, this is ██████ Police Department, how can we help you?
Caller: Help! There's a strange blood vein monster in out neighborhood! It went into one of my neighbors' houses spreading blood everywhere!
Police: Can you describe the creature?
Caller: Yeah, it was just a fully formed human's blood vein system but somehow alive and able to move perfectly normal, if not better than a human. I also saw at least two that looked like dog ones!
Police: Understood, we've tracked where this call is from and we're on our way.
