The tale of Dr. Verlexin
rating: 0+x

Dr. Verlexin was born in 1990, He had always loved school, especially science classes. He was always up to learn about weird things in nature. When Dr. Verlexin was 15, he decided to check his IQ, and sign up for a test. Waiting outside of the test room took forever, as he was eager to see the results of what he will do. The next day, he is mailed the results. Now, he always gotten good grade, but he never thought of even scoring 178!

When he was 18, Dr. Verlexin had heard about the SCP Foundation, about how they contain specimens, and classifying strange events. He became interested, and decided to look into it. After seeing all of this information, and working himself up to it, he started to want to become a worker, A scientist, One to discover and explore! And that, he did. At the mere age of 22 he had gotten the job as a researcher.

Dr. Verlexin walks inside, a bit nervous for his first day of work, taking note on how much security he had to pass to even get inside. It was a cold, rainy day. The sun was hiding behind the clouds that pour down drops of water, and security outside was still there.

The halls had a very strong smell of disinfectant, and were dead silent. The sounds of the footsteps the only thing to drown out the screaming silence of the grim, dark halls. He finds someone going outside, a tall man, wearing a white cloak.

"Hey, uh, it's my first day, am I supposed to go somewhere?" Dr. Verlexin asks

The man said nothing, and nodded his head and turned around. Dr. Verlexin follows. After walking in the halls for a while, he was beginning to feel a bit strange, the feeling of insecurity, thoughts of breaches, seeing friends he may make dying. They both reach a large door.

"Here, talk with the Head Researcher; Dr. Hartmen" the man said

Dr. Verlexin walks into the room, he begins to look at the strange decorations in the office. A sword, a strange looking lamp, he had a guitar there, and a teddy bear. Upon looking at the teddy bear, Dr. Verlexin has a very noticeable look of concern on his face.

"Aren't you not allowed to have those here?" Dr. Verlexin says
"Hello, you are..?" Dr. Hartmen follows ignoring what Verlexin says
"I'm Dr. Verlexin , is that a teddy bear?" Dr. Verlexin repeats, pointing at it
"Huh?" Dr. Hartmen looks confused

Suddenly Dr. Verlexin realizes he was hallucinating, and now stressed that he has already made a fool of himself on the first day.

"Uh, nothing, nev-" Dr. Verlexin is cut off
"-Oh you're the new guy? Nice to meet you!" Dr. Hartmen says
"Follow me, I'll show you your office."

Dr. Verlexin followed, and enters the office. It was cozy, Blue-ish walls, a comfy looking desk and some nice plants to help him not be driven insane from the institutional colors. But, as soon as Dr. Hartmen is about to speak, the breach alarms go off.

Dr. Hartment's eyes widen, proceeding to explain what was happening
"Wait what?" Dr. Verlexin is confused, looking around for an answer that does not exist there

They hear screaming coming from the halls
"049! ITS 049!"

Dr. Hartment, in a very panicked tone, says "SCP-049!!", and begins to run to safety, leaving Dr. Verlexin in the dark as what to do.

Dr. Verlexin was never a brave guy, he was always the quiet kid who sits in the corner, letting everything go by, but the adrenaline must've gotten to him, He begins to run and following signs to the armory. When he arrives, no one is there, so he nabs a Riot shield, some head protection and a pistol, as everything else was taken.

He watches as the lock-down doors to the armory begin to close, and red lights flash in his eyes. He didn't know what 049 was, but he knew it was elucid, meaning he could re-contain it with the shield and gun. He hears shuffling behind him, and runs to the lock-down door as it was about to close. He knew if it was 049, that it would be stuck in the armory, but at this point he was looking for excuses in his mind not to go through with trying to re-contain 049.

Dr. Verlexin was trying to find the exit in the maze like halls, as this was his first priority. He finds a map of the place and looks where an exit might exist. As he does this though, he hears someone say behind him "Oh no, looks like I'll need to cure you, you are sick…"

He about looses his mind with adrenaline, and punches whatever was behind him, as he turns around he sees 049, covering his stomach.

"Wh-" 049 says, but Dr. Verlexin slams the riot shield into him, knocking 049 to the ground, and running again to try and find out information to re-contain 049. He runs and finds an information book under a desk of a doctor's records. He skims and finds 049…

"In the event SCP-049 becomes aggressive, the application of lavender (L. multifida) has been shown to produce a calming effect on the entity. Once calmed, SCP-049 generally becomes compliant, and will return to containment with little resistance.1"

"The plague doctor… Hmmm… I see, well where the hell am I going to find lavender?" Dr. Verlexin says in an outrage

Running through the building, trying to find the medical department encase they might have lavender, he sees 049 in front of him, in his peripheral vision, everywhere. He knew he was hallucinating and kept moving, he snagged the map again to find the medicinal area.

After a bit of running, cramps, and immense sweating, he had found the medical department. Rummaging through the cabinets, he finds it… Lavender! He thought he was saved, all he had to do now was get 049 re-contained, then leave imminently.

To run and try and find 049, he begins to wonder if he's not supposed to be doing this, he is a researcher after all, not security… He battles with himself in his head if he should keep trying to re-contain 049. He decided that if he's gotten this far, he might as well. As soon as he see 049 walking through the facility, trying to find the medical department, presumably, Security come in, as well as Mobile Defense.

He runs to 049 and slams him with the shield again, attempting to stun him until security find them. After a minuet of struggling, security come in. They were surprised, and angry, to see someone already trying to contain him

"WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING? YOU'RE GONNA GET YOURSELF KILLED! YOU AREN'T FOLLOWING ANY OF THE DAMN PROCEDURES!" One of the officers yelled in a fuming rage.
Dr. Verlexin throws a small bottle of lavender to a guard, "This will calm him down"

The officer tells Dr. Verlexin to leave the facility, and that they've got the situation under control. As he leaves, he is still contemplating if that was his job. Thinking, "Even if it wasn't he still probably helped" helped him not get to caught by the idea of it.

The next day he goes into work, Everything is clean. He saw the whole document of 049, and thought if he could go talk to 049 to apologize, he should. He requests this but is denied profusely as 049 had just breached, and could not risk another breach.

Dr. Verlexin never forgot his first day, and has come along was since then, he now runs major tests, and likes to think that his job may be dangerous, but interesting, and helpful.
