Verlexin_1

Part 1

Dr. Verlexin was born in 1990, He had always loved school, especially science classes. He was always up to learn about weird things in nature. When Dr. Verlexin was 15, he decided to check his IQ, and sign up for a test. Waiting outside of the test room took forever, as he was eager to see the results of what he will do. The next day, he is mailed the results. Now, he always gotten good grades, but he never thought of even scoring 178!

When he was 18, Dr. Verlexin had heard about the SCP Foundation, about how they contain specimens, and classifying strange events. He became interested, and decided to look into it. After seeing all of this information, and working himself up to it, he started to want to become a worker, A scientist, One to discover and explore! And that, he did. At the mere age of 22 he had gotten the job as a researcher.

Dr. Verlexin walks inside, a bit nervous for his first day of work, taking note on how much security he had to pass to even get inside. He had remembered that this was even a safer site, with safer entities. It was a cold, rainy day. The sun was hiding behind the clouds that pour down drops of water, and security outside was still there.

The halls had a very strong smell of disinfectant, and were dead silent. The sounds of the footsteps the only thing to drown out the screaming silence of the grim, dark halls. He finds someone going outside, a tall man, wearing a white cloak.

"Hey, uh, it's my first day, am I supposed to go somewhere?" Dr. Verlexin asks

The man said nothing, and nodded his head and turned around. Dr. Verlexin follows. After walking in the halls for a while, he was beginning to feel a bit strange, the feeling of insecurity, thoughts of breaches, thoughts of innocent people dying. After a while, they both reach a large door.

"Here, talk with the Head Researcher; Dr. Hartmen" the man said

Dr. Verlexin walks into the room, he begins to look at the strange decorations in the office. A sword, a strange looking lamp, and a guitar.

"Dr. Hartmen?" Dr. Verlexin says walking inside the office
"That is me, You are…?"
"Verlexin."
"Ah, the new guy. Welcome! I'll show you your brand new office." Dr. Hartmen says while standing up.

Once again, he is walking through the cold halls of the facility, and reach a door.

"Here it is, You'll be doing your research here."
"Thank you, Dr. Hartmen!"
"My pleasure, let me know if you need anything"

Dr. Verlexin enters the office. It was cozy, Blue-ish walls, a comfy looking desk and some nice plants to help him not be driven insane from the institutional colors. He decides he would need to get his bearings, and tries to find a list of all the SCPs in the facility. He takes special note of ones that have less information, and to find more stuff out about them.

Months pass, and he is learning so much about the anomaly's. He loved working at a secure area, as D-Class would not be killed as much. Well at least not accidentally. But soon, there is not much more to know about these SCPs… He grows tired of the same thing.

One year later, he requests to shadow Dr. Hartmen, who had been moved to a more dangerous facility. His requests were granted. Hearing this news, Dr. Verlexin had gotten excited. Finally! He thought, He would be able to research different things! He had trouble sleeping that night, knowing he'd be opened to a new world soon.

The next day, he enters the new site, and walks up to reception. He finds out everyone is required to have a walkie-talkie on them at all times. Weird, but okay. He locates Dr. Hartmen's office, to start the day.

"Hey, welcome to site-██!" Dr. Hartmen said.
"Excited to be here, whats the plan for today?"

They begin to talk about their plans for the day. Dr. Hartmen give Dr. Verlexin a tour of the facility, Soon the maze-like halls made sense.

"Here is the most interesting, 049. The plague doctor. Numerous test and we still know only half of his existence." Dr. Harment says.
"Ah, is he super dangerous?" Dr. Verlexin asks
"Myehhhh" Dr. Hartmen says, "He will only kill people if he sees a pestilence in someone."
"Pestilence? Oh, Plague"
"Yep, we'll be experimenting with this guy today." Dr. Hartmen says.

As the tour reaches a conclusion, suddenly the breach alarms go off.
"Oh god dammit" Dr. Hartmen says in a panicked tone.
"What? WHAT?" Dr. Verlexin yells.

Dr. Hartmen runs out of the facility as fast as he could, leaving Dr. Verlexin in the dark as what to do. Quickly the breach doors close and lock, trapping Dr. Verlexin in the facility. They must've not known he was there, as he knew that they wouldn't trap him inside. He runs to try and find the entrance, but of course they doors are locked, suddenly his radio goes off.

"Hello… The….. Breach…. Doct-…" The radio keeps cutting on and off
"Dr… xin….. contai-…. 04…." Although the radio is almost is not working well, he understands what he needs to do, but does not understand why he should contain the breach. He shuffles for the radio

"Hello? Isn't there security to deal with this? I'm just a researcher! I can do this!!" Dr. Verlexin says angrily.

There is no response, so he sets out to the armory, snatching a level-3 KeyCard on his way. He should be able to access weapons with it. As he runs through the halls, the radio goes off again.

"Security is all dead" The radio seemed less muffled
"You are the only person to be in the facility, and you need to re-contain 049."
"I'm a researcher! Not security! I can't do this!" Dr. Verlexin yells.
"That may be, but you are the last hope, until more security comes, but that will be in over 2 hours due to the remote location of this site."
"Then wait! It won't get outside of the site, I don't want to die!"
"You must obey me, as I am part of the O5 Council, now contain the damn thing or die trying!"

The radio silences, as Dr. Verlexin is left with his thoughts. He thinks if he just contains the damn thing that this can all be over with, and go back to more safe research.

Dr. Verlexin was never a brave guy, he was always the quiet kid who sits in the corner, letting everything go by, but the adrenaline must've gotten to him, He begins to run and following signs to the armory. When he arrives, no one is there, so he nabs a Riot shield, some head protection and a pistol, as everything else was taken.

He begins to run to the medical department. After a bit of running, cramps, and immense sweating, he had found the medical department. Rummaging through the cabinets, he finds it… Lavender! He thought he was saved, all he had to do now was get 049 re-contained, then leave imminently.

He had remembered that, to calm down SCP-049, you may use lavender to calm him down, and he will return to his cell. He hears shuffling behind him, and imminently turns around to see 049.

"Why, Hello. Looks like we're all alone" 049 says.

His voice was strange, metallic, and gave Dr. Verlexin a strong feeling of uneasiness.

"Please.. Just return to containment" Dr. Verlexin says, showing a bit too much emotion
"That's not going to happen, Sir."

Suddenly 049 jumps on top of him, with a needle to his neck. Dr. Verlexin quickly rubs lavender on his mask-face, in hopes that the effect will work quickly. His wishes were granted, as 049 backs off, forgetting what happend

"What… What happened? Why am I here?" 049 says tiredly
"You breached containment and killed multiple guards!"
"Oh, I remember… I didn't kill them. I simply cured them of their ailments!"

Dr. Verlexin attempts to bring 049 back into containment, and does so successfully. Although everyone outside was beginning to lose hope, that the SCP could breach outside the facility.

"I brought 049 back in containment, now let me out of this pit of death!"

He could not wait to return to his normal life, as he had enough of the dangers of this site. He could shadow again some other time, but he won't miss it.
