Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX should be contained in a lead cell, precisely 5m x 5m x 5m, and each lead surface should have a thickness of at least 2m, preferably more if space allows. In each corner of the room, there should be remotely controlled devices that emit a blast of air, to keep the object in the middle of the cell once flying, and an incineration system on the bottom surface, to kill any eggs the object may lay. The object does not react to being photographed or recorded, so live monitoring is recommended. Guards observing the object are not to look at the eyes of the object during a real encounter or watching the CCTV, as it will cause temporary, or in some cases, permanent blindness.
Description: SCP-XXXX is an insect-like creature, with notably jet-black eyes that do not reflect any light whatsoever, and closely resembles a common mosquito. It is approximately 1.4m long, from head to rear, and 0.6m wide, considerably larger than your run-of-the-mill bloodsucker.
SCP-XXXX possesses an unusual tendency to eat or dismember its limbs, which it subsequently regrows. Soon after it attacks itself, it enters a state of rage, and will fly towards the closest source of warm blood, and proceed to insert its mouthpart and extract the blood for consumption. It will then lay its offspring via pre-fertilised eggs (SCP-XXXX's gender is unknown). The corpse of the animal it has just eaten is infected with some form of advanced arbovirus, which will kill anything that comes in contact with it, via destruction of the blood cells.
The specimen currently contained is accurately believed to be the only one in existence, as when it was captured, Dr. Veselinovic ordered all eggs on site to be incinerated to prevent further damage.
