Archived Pitch:
Uses common mythological motifs and symbols1 to explore the paleolithic beginnings of Sarkic mythology and details one of the Six Ordeals of Grand Karcist Ion and the Archon who administered it.
Investigation thriller → chaotic MTF vs. SCP battle → anthropological discoveries.

If it seems tropey at times, much of that is deliberate and it does serve a purpose. My hope is that by evoking elements common to many mythologies through a story that would hypothetically predate said mythologies by many millennia, I can make it sound plausible that said elements could share a common, and sinister, prehistoric inspiration.

Special Containment Procedures: Foundation assets embedded within “Big Johns Rentals” are to track the distribution and placement of portable restroom units throughout Merle County. Field agents within Merle County are to monitor the indicated locations for signs of an SCP-XXXX ingress event. Any discovered instances of SCP-XXXX-1 are to be detained and transported to Site-70.

Containment Site-70 has been established at the location of the now-defunct rentals company “Party’s and More” (sic) in {city} for the purpose of housing recovered instances of SCP-XXXX-1. Instances are to be contained in Class-2 Animate Object Cells. No more than 2 instances should be kept in the same cell. In the event of overcrowding, excess specimens may be disposed of via incinerator. By Ethics Committee request, an annual budget of $500 has been set aside for SCP-XXXX-1 enrichment purposes. 6 portable restroom units are kept on site to increase opportunities to directly observe an SCP-XXXX ingress event.

Efforts to minimize and/or eliminate the usage of portable restrooms within Merle County are ongoing. For further details, see {addenda}.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a recurrent anomalous phenomenon wherein large, animate teddy bears (designated SCP-XXXX-1) spontaneously manifest inside a random portable chemical toilet10 located within Merle County, Michigan, United States. Occurrences of this phenomenon, referred to as ingress events, tend to transpire 2-4 weeks apart. Ingress events are characterized by a sudden and drastic drop in Hume concentration accompanied by an upswing in spatial distortion, suggesting that the anomaly is extra-dimensional in origin.

SCP-XXXX-1 are large (1.6 meters tall), animate teddy bears composed of a shaggy faux fur material and polyester fiberfill. SCP-XXXX-1 are fully ambulatory despite lacking any internal structures analogous to a musculoskeletal system. They are sentient and capable of speech, though they primarily speak in inane non-sequiturs (see Interview Log). The question of whether or not they qualify as sapient has yet to be resolved.

Instances of SCP-XXXX-1 universally display a docile and agreeable demeanor. Specimens recovered in the field are often found performing repetitive physical tasks appropriate to their area of recovery. Notable examples include:

Instance Activity Location Note
SCP-XXXX-1-12 Playing hopscotch school playground Confiscated security camera footage revealed that the subject had been performing this activity nonstop for over 4 hours before it was detained.
SCP-XXXX-1-51 Fishing public park Subject repeatedly cast and reeled in the line without waiting for fish to bite. Subject did not make use of bait.
SCP-XXXX-1-82 Playing a carnival ring toss game county fair Subject was found wearing multiple plastic bracelets and necklaces, oversized novelty sunglasses, a rainbow afro wig, and had a (non-anomalous) giant teddy bear in its possession.
SCP-XXXX-1-126 Operating a bulldozer construction site A backhoe was found between a very deep and narrow hole in the ground and an equally large pile of dirt. As the hole did not correspond to the actual construction project, it is believed that SCP-XXXX-1-126 had previously been operating the backhoe, only to stop when the arm could reach no deeper.

It is unknown how SCP-XXXX-1 are able to perform tasks requiring such manual dexterity despite their lack of hands. There are currently over 200 instances of SCP-XXXX-1 in containment.
