Item #: SCP-5520
Object Class: Keter
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-5520 is not fully contained, and is reported to travel between sites through mostly unknown means. All attempts to contain SCP-5520 have failed miserably, and have resulted in mistaken containment of Foundation staff on more than one occasion(See Incidents SCP-5520-A, SCP-5520-C, and SCP-5520-E). If SCP-5520 is sighted, DO NOT attempt to confront. Report any sightings to multiple high level personnel and evacuate.
The procedures currently in place
The only way that SCP-5520 can be made to stop attacking personnel is to contain it for at least sixty(60) consecutive seconds. It will concede after this, generally requesting an interview and amicably talking to staff, cooperating and remaining in its containment chamber for a day or so before escaping. SCP-5520 has appeared in sites across many different continents, and no damage is ever noted in chambers that SCP-5520 has escaped from.
The amount of time before SCP-5520 appears in another site varies, being anywhere from 2 weeks to 5 months - the average time is 1-2 months.
Description: SCP-5520 is an amorphous entity, whose form/size can change at will. Its 'normal' human form stands approximately 1.73 meters tall(last measured ██/██/201█) and weighs 103 kg. When at rest and not taking another form, SCP-5520 is a black, viscous jelly, with a consistency and texture self-described as 'hospital jello,' measuring roughly 0.5 meters wide, 0.5 meters long, and 0.75 meters tall. Researchers have unanimously agreed with this description. Its small size and seemingly 'cute' mannerisms while in this form are extremely deceiving, and all forms taken by SCP-5520, even this base one, should always be regarded with caution. SCP-5520 is capable of intelligent speech and conversation, even in its base form. Changes in form do not seem to result in any changes in underlying personality, or at least none have been noted thus far.
When angered or entering an aggressive state, black tendrils similar in composition to the material its jelly state is made of appear from SCP-5520's back. These tendrils do not have a known maximum length, and are extremely flexible and durable, responding immediately to SCP-5520's will. If anything resembling this description is seen, whether on a human or in the environment, all personnel are to report it immediately and find a group of humans to stay with until either another explanation is offered by multiple official staff, or SCP-5520 is caught.
SCP-5520 is capable of taking any kind of genetic - or even inorganic - material and changing into the obtained material. In this way, it can impersonate Foundation staff, civilians, or even commonplace objects. It can do this in two ways: either by a small touch/sample of the material, or by [REDACTED] the original material. No trace whatsoever is left of the original material upon [REDACTED]. The first method leads to temporary transformations, with touches of the material lasting 10 to 30 minutes on average; small samples(samples less than 0.25 meters3 in size) lasting 30 minutes to 2 hours; and larger samples(samples larger than 0.25 meters3, ranging to large chunks of flesh or metal measuring even up to 10 meters3 and possibly even larger) last anywhere from 4 hours to a month. These numbers were given by SCP-5520, and have been since tested and confirmed by multiple Foundation personnel. If SCP-5520 [REDACTED] a material then the form is stored inside SCP-5520, and can be accessed at any time, for any amount of time.
SCP-5520 can also apparently access memories or internal abilities of the materials it [REDACTED]. Supposedly, the entire material has to be [REDACTED] for full access to memories and abilities - touches and samples only access recent memories, and will allow only small access to any abilities. Through this, any impersonations of people can be almost exact - even down to personality, muscle memory, and unconscious quirks - and it has the extremely dangerous ability to take the anomalous effects of other SCPs. As far as the Foundation knows, it has not, as of yet, [REDACTED] any SCPs, but has touched several safe-class SCPs and exhibited their effects for a small time.
The change between forms is described as 'rippling' by those who have witnessed it(before their deaths either by suicide or brain hemorrhaging shortly afterwards - seeing the change take place is considered a massive cognitohazard, leading to permanent brain damage in many parts of the brain. The change goes between current form and the new one in waves: new material being added on or taken away in the same manner to conform to the size of its new form. This process has never been recorded on video or any other media, as any surveillance cameras nearby will malfunction during the process, going entirely back to normal once completed. When it takes a form, the resulting object/person is entirely identical to the original, and as aforementioned, even has access to memories and personality of the impersonated material. SCP-5520 has proven itself to be a great actor, and has convinced security staff to kill the researcher it was impersonating at one point when confronted(See Incident SCP-5520-G).
SCP-5520 considers its containment to be a 'game,' and freely gives out information as to how exactly it works and how it kills during interviews(see reports for transcripts of these interviews). It enjoys breaking out and knocking as many staff unconscious as it can, occasionally killing. When asked about why it only occasionally killed, it said that 'playing' with its 'toys' amused it more than killing them. It states that sometimes, it 'can't help' killing, however. As of ██/██/201█, SCP-5520 has killed ██ personnel and wounded ███, attacking at least ██ sites. Only extreme incineration and anti-tank weapons have succeeded in even slowing SCP-5520, with SCP-5520 saying that they 'merely tickled.'
The only time SCP-5520 has suffered anything resembling major damage was when Site-██'s nuclear warhead was detonated in an attempt to stop SCP-5520 escaping, as explained in Incident SCP-5520-D. SCP-5520 was crippled for 15 minutes before - according to its statements - 'brushing it off' and healing the damage.
