Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be stored in a standard high-security anomalous item containment locker at Site-12 when not undergoing testing. All access is strictly forbidden without the authorisation of two Site-12 senior researchers. Due to the potential for misuse of this anomaly, intentional or otherwise, anyone not intimately familiar with the object (including Foundation staff from outside of Site-12) cannot give this authorisation, regardless of rank.

Any use of this object, and the results of it's effects, is to be fully documented, logged and stored for reference in both digital and physical form in the Site-12 archives. Actual results of testing are to be dealt with at the discretion of Senior Researchers.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a slightly worn but otherwise decent condition leather-bound book that is roughly the size and shape of an average fictional novel. While not overtly decorated in any specific way, the book is made of high-grade materials and is generally of a quality associated with carefully hand-crafted journals or tomes, it's apparent wear likely being due to it's age.

SCP-XXXX itself expresses no unique anomalous properties of it's own. In fact, the book appears to be nothing more than a prop or conduit for the actual anomalous effect, and it's nature as a book bears no relevance to the effect. It can be written in, damaged, restored, expanded and read from just like a normal book, it's pages containing various notes and writings from a myriad of previous owners on varying topics, although mostly being benign journal entries from two generations of the Whitley-Walker family (the previous owners) and notes made as part of the initial Foundation tests on the object.

SCP-XXXX'S anomalous properties manifest when in the possession of any individual of what can only be described as a 'focused mind', or someone of a clear will or perspective. Such an individual, as long as they have SCP-XXXX somewhere on their person, has the ability to combine or fuse virtually anything together through thought alone. So far testing has confirmed this effect works on any and all types of matter and energy, and even ephemeral subjects like concepts and ideas. The combination occurs regardless of the actual feasible compatibility of the initial subjects. The only requirement seems to be that the bearer is capable of clearly mentally focusing on all their subjects, and the effect will always produce a 'successful' result. Broadly speaking, this limits the power of the effect to the mental acuity of the bearer, with most only being able to consistently combine two subjects at a time, depending on their level of concentration.

Addendum XXXX.1:

The following is a short list of notable tests and their resulting combinations, conducted under controlled conditions by junior researchers Dr. Ashley Sugimoto Knight, Dr. Henderson Patton and research assistant Victoria Adams, under the supervision of senior research staff.

Test #7:
Subjects: An apple, an orange and a banana.
Results: Produced a soft ovoid fruit with a bright orange and red colouration. Was described as having a strange texture, but reportedly tasted deliciously sweet and juicy. Was able to be bitten into like an apple, but was preferred peeled.
Notes: None.

Test #11:
Subjects: A high-powered optical laser generator and a young hammerhead shark.
Results: [REDACTED].
Notes: I think it's safe to say that what you thought was going to happen didn't actually happen, Victoria. How you're not blind is beyond me. We'll try a different tact tomorrow. - Ashley

Test #12:
Subjects: A high-powered optical laser generator, a young hammerhead shark and a clear mental image of a cyborg laser shark (prepared the night prior by Miss. Adams through research online).
Results: A cybernetic hammerhead shark with a mounted laser 'gun' along it's back. Shipped to a Foundation military research facility for testing. Performed below expectations.
Notes: Retested without the laser and then the shark, while keeping the mental image in both tests. Produced similar but somewhat less coherent results.

Test #15:
Subjects: The scientific concept of quantum tunneling, D-38156, Dr. Patton's memories of his visit to Disneyland in 2004 and a copy of the film Epic Movie.
Results: [REDACTED] caused a containment breach resulting in the deaths of 37 personnel. Entity eventually contained and redesignated as SCP-YYYY.
Notes: I was 5 miles away and I'm going to be on an amnestic regime for the next 3 months to get that godsdamned music out of my head. As of this moment, Dr. Patton is to be an observer only in any tests regarding SCP-XXXX. And for heaven's sake people, show a little common sense in future. - O5-4

Test #27:
Subjects: Two deceased humanoid SCP's and D-5267, with mental emphasis placed on D-5267 and his state of being alive.
Results: A slightly aged but otherwise fit and healthy D-5267 possessing the anomalous traits of both of the deceased subjects. Reclassification pending.
Notes: None.

Test #32:
Subjects: Junior researcher Dr. Daniel Thomas, previously in therapy for acute gender dysphoria, and a group of 3 female D-class of a similar age and build as Dr. Thomas. All 3 D-class subjects are either comatose or suffering from permanent brain damage resulting in a severe lack of mental activity.
Results: Dr. Daniella Thomas has been returned to work for 2 weeks and psychiatric evaluations show her to be happier and more productive than ever before in her recorded Foundation career. Reports having unusual dreams, but no other side-effects noted at this time.
Notes: She's more attractive than my wife! I've seen half the guys in this site flirting with her. Don't know if I should tell them the truth or not. -Dr. Patton

Test #34:
Subjects: An abandoned warehouse near [REDACTED] and a photo album of tigers taken from nature magazines.
Results: The warehouse is now painted top to bottom with tiger pictures along all walls and surfaces, inside and outside.
Notes: CAUTION: WAREHOUSE ALSO CONTAINS TIGERS.

Test #40:
Subjects: [REDACTED]
Results: [REDACTED]
Notes: Document sealed by order of O5 council. O5 clearance required to view this document.
