Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is contained within an octagon-shaped room 360 m across and 80 m in height, from the centre outwards at 80 m, 130 m and 160 m from the centre of the room at place smooth obsidian stone pillars (designated SCP-XXXX-1) 60 m tall, 40 m and 20 m respectfully making sure they are 2 m by 2 m wide at all times. The room is to be kept sealed in an airtight vacuum.
Any personnel assigned to SCP-XXXX are to communicate with it via the observation room attached to the full length of one of the walls, it is to be equipped with a non-networked computer, microphone, and speakers; it is also not to have any source of light within it both the containment room or the observation room therefore not allowing SCP-XXXX the ability to hide or locate any targets.
If personnel need to enter the room for any reason all the surrounding rooms are to be sealed off and turned into a vacuum; they will also need to be wearing a full-face rebreather with a minimum of 2 oxygen tanks and wear a thermal dampening suit to hide their thermal signature from SCP-XXXX. Note if at any point personnel believe SCP-XXXX knows that they are in there
Now that SCP-XXX is friendly the containment room is to be kept in a vacuum unless work needs to be done to it where it can be oxidised and the surrounding rooms do not need to be sealed off and vacuumed. If an attempt to breach containment is made by SCP-XXXX the Site is to be evacuated with Site ██ going into full lockdown for 24 hours. If during this time SCP-XXXX does not attempt to breach its containment then the lockdown is to be lifted otherwise the site is to be fully sealed with all oxygen removed from it, before filling the site with concrete resealing SCP-XXXX.
Description: SCP-XXXX is located at ███████████████████ which has now been designated Site ██ while the main focus of Site ██ is the housing and containment of SCP-XXXX it is also used to hold and contain other SCPs. SCP-XXXX, alongside SCP-XXXX-1, was found deep underground in a collapsed cave system inside what later became its containment chamber. Note the cave system was only discovered after an earthquake in the local area revealed the entrance to the cave system.
SCP-XXXX is a dark red smoke creature about 58 m in diameter roughly and hovers 10 m above the ground and will normally stay in the centre of its containment room, it will normally be constantly flowing around in a ball. When it is communicating with someone it will pulse a darker red colour. SCP-XXXX seems to like fire and will happily leave personnel alone as long as it has a fire to be near but if so whatever reason the fire goes out it will screech out in what can only be described as pain and go on a rampage if personnel are nearby. This will be indicated by it producing thunder-like sounds and throwing obsidian shards at the nearest target, with it prioritising living targets first even if it can not hit them directly.
After further testing, it seems that it will only go on a rampage if personnel are within the containment, but if the fire goes out and personnel are not within the containment room then the stones will admit a purple pulse sending SCP-XXXX into a trance-like state.
Addendum #1: After routine maintenance of SCP-XXXX containment room the obsidian rocks activated as expected when the fire went out but unlike before one of the rocks shattered therefore not putting SCP-XXXX into the trance-like state as before leaving them to then go full rampage destroying 6 of the rocks and damaging 12 others.
Fearing a containment breach ████████████ ordered nearby personnel to fill SCP-XXXX containment room with fire and make sure that they do not go out until replacement rocks are found and placed within the room. This ended up lasting for 40 days and to make sure it doesn't happen again ███████████ ordered 24 of each rock to be obtained reducing the risk of another containment breach.
During this time SCP-XXXX was able to be interviewed.
Addendum #2: Following this interview an MTF task force was created with the task of searching and clearing out the rest of the cave system in the hopes of finding and retrieving SCP-XXXX-2s. While the task originally had setbacks they were, in the end, able to locate and recover 96 intact SCP-XXXX-2 located in what appeared to be a workshop dedicated towards the creation of SCP-XXXX-1 and SCP-XXXX-2. There was also a detailed drawing of what the original creators designed SCP-XXXX containment room to be like which was immediately brought into force.
After this further testing was done with SCP-XXXX cooperation who was now in near-constant communication with the research team assigned to it. Note SCP-XXXX seems to form very emotional bonds to those who maintain and study it this was observed when █████████████ was taken ill and █████████████ stepped in to do an interview with SCP-XXXX who constantly asked about ████████████. But due to the change in the containment chamber, SCP-XXXX is less likely to rampage and seems to be a lot more cooperative towards the foundation; whether this is a ploy or not is yet to be seen as it does keep making constant requests to be let free and to see the sky again.
Note the MTF task force created for this mission was expanded upon and kept at Site ██ with the mission to help contain SCP-XXXX and to further explore the cave system which seems to be an SCP within itself possibility as certain members of the MTF task force exploring the caves have on occasions lost track of time, forgotten details of the caves that they just went through or ended up walking into parts of the cave system that wasn't there before.
For now, all cave exploration has been ceased awaiting permission from the O5 council to explore the caves further and possibly expand the site more; alongside the possible moving of SCP-XXXX to a new cave which seems to have a large glass dome top from which the sky is visible; attempts to locate this on the surface have so far been unsuccessful.
