Special Containment Procedures:
SCP- is to be secured in a safe in O5-01's office. This safe can be opened only by O5-01 if alive. If O5-01 is incapacitated, MTF-Alpha 1 is to open document ███, which must be up to date at all times, listing the chosen successor(s) for O5-01, and can use the included credentials to allow this successor access. This safe must never be opened if anyone other than O5-01 and/or the designated successor are present, except at O5-01's uncoerced discretion. This includes other members of the O5 council.
Description:
SCP- is a Scranton Reality Shield helmet. Upon being worn and activated, the wearer will lose consciousness for 10-30 minutes. If they awaken, they will be immune to all known cognito, mimetic, info, and mental hazards. However, they will also be immune to all known forms of amnestics, and will possess a complete and perfectly clear memory going back to birth (some report memories from inside the womb). They will further be unable to forget anything going forward. Users also report increased "clarity", demonstrating skills such as reading lips in their peripheral vision and being able to identify objects at distances beyond what would normally be resolvable by the human eye.
Mortality rate for using SCP- is currently estimated at 4%, with incompatible individuals failing to wake up from the initial unconsciousness. It is believed this may be related to trauma (remembered due to the full-recall properties) or low mental fortitude. 100% correlation has been found between mortality and prior exposure to Procedure 110 Montauk (Note: sample size is below statistical significance). No correlation has been found between physical health and mortality. Due to this risk, document ███ must always contain at least 5 ordered names.
Due to the knowledge the user will be exposed to at the foundation, combined with the inability to forget or have impact of experience fade, insanity is the inevitable result of the use of SCP- . This is not anomalous. Time to insanity varies between 6 months and a record of 5 years.; in one case, insanity onset was immediate upon regaining consciousness. Current user must undergo psychological evaluation once per week, without exception. Refusal to be evaluated is grounds for immediate declaration of unsuitability and activation of replacement. Upon confirmation that replacement is stable, former users will be sent to site-███, where they are to be supplied with comfortable isolation quarters and granted all reasonable requests except those that allow communication. No communication with gaurds other then requests for food or other items are to be undertaken; attempting any other communication is grounds for immediate termination. At any time after replacement, former users may request termination. Termination is to be carried out humanly in all cases, unless a clear and immediate threat of containment breach is presented.
Duties:
The sole job of O5-01, outside of breaking ties, is to observe the council for signs of infection by any type of mental hazard, and to mange any projects which cannot be otherwise handled due to hazards. Orders by O5-01 to amnestize the council are to be carried out without question or delay.
O5-01 may issue orders that appear nonsensical, wasteful, or are not explained. These orders are to be assumed to be in response to a hazard where knowledge of the hazard or knowledge of why an action is being done are themselves hazardous. Because of this authority, care shall be taken in selection of replacements, and no action taken in the evaluation and selection process, including those normally forbidden, shall be considered out of bounds.
Before using SCP- , all selected candidates shall have the details and restrictions explained to them, and may ask any questions at this time, regardless of classification. The candidate must then decide if they will accept the position. Candidates may not leave or contact outside individuals to assist with this decision. If they refuse, they are to immediately be given Class C amenstics to remove all memory of their selection. Candidates are not to be pressured and must voluntarily accept. Refusal shall not be a negative mark on any record. Candidates may not be re-selected for a period of at least 10 years.
Addendum 1173-O5-01:
Pursuant to addendum 1173-A, all O5-01 are to refrain, under any circumstances, from confirming or denying any information pertaining to The Islamic Union of Eastern Samothrace. Failure to honor this is grounds for immediate amnestization of all present and replacement of O5-01.

Document O5-01-INFORM
The contents of this document are to be updated regularly. In the event O5-01 cannot brief their successor in person, this document is to serve to inform successors so they can decide whether or not to accept appointment.
Hello. If you are reading this, I am dead or insane. First, I would like to say I am sorry. So very sorry. I wish I could be the last. I wish I could delete this SCP, delete everything, smash the crown, and forget all of this. I didn't deserve this, and you don't either. But someone HAS to do this.
Here at the foundation, as early as orientation, we drill into people that the world is horrible. There are monsters, inconceivable weapons, and things that will destroy everything if given half a chance. And then their is what I am about to ask you to handle. Handle alone.
There are things people can't know, not even the O5s. These are things that will kill you if you know them. That will make you instantly insane, that will take over your body, that will warp space and time, just by knowing them. I can't get more specific without inflicting them on you, but I know. Someone has to know so they can deal with them.
In some cases that means preventing others from knowing. In some that means telling people to do things that make no sense, that may kill them, that go against all reason, but have to be done to keep everyone safe.
The job I am asking you to take over is to know these things so no one else has to.
The crown will make you immune, but it will also make you insane. Once you use it, you will remember everything forever. No more forgetting anything. You will remember your birth, you will remember everything you have ever done with the foundation, including what you willingly or unwilling had erased. You will never be able to have anything erased again. You will end up insane. It's not a clean insanity, caused by some effect. It's just that your mind, no human mind, can remember everything we do at the foundation and remain intact. Even the rest of the O5 forget, but not you. And what you remember is worse than what they forget.
You are probably asking what kind of orientation letter this is. Who the hell would go forward with this, would volunteer for this, after all that I just said. You were picked for 2 reasons. First, you won't abuse the power you are about to be given. Whether you remember it or not, you have been put through tests where you have been given power to see if you abused it. If you are reading this, you passed. Second is your commitment. You have demonstrated that you will not walk away, that you are determined at all costs, including your own life, to carry out the most import of our three mandates: to protect.
Someone has to do this. Someone has to see the horrors no one else can, so they can stop them. Someone has to watch the O5 to make sure they aren't infected. There is an old question, 'who watches the watchers?' If you accept, that will be you. It's a thankless job. It's a lethal job. Assuming the data I have is correct, it's a job that has claimed 693 souls, including my own.
I wish I could tell you more. I wish I was there to answer your questions, as well as I would be able to. But if you are reading this, I am gone. The watchtower is unmanned. I am sorry, but someone must stand and look at them. Please think hard, but not long. Someone must step up and step up fast.
