SCP-5053

Item #: SCP-5053

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-5053 is to be stored in a non-descript CNSI containment locker, in an undocumented spot at site 19, only known to █████.

Description: SCP-5053 is a small, grey, fragment of medical gauze, about 50 inches in length, and 1 inch in width. SCP-5053 is activated when its' wearer makes physical contact with another person (referred to as the target) while also having positive thoughts about said target. When activated, SCP-5053 will give the target a drug trip like experience for the proceeding 24 hours. Targets affected by SCP-5053 that hold memories of the 24 hours, will describe vague recollections of going to places that would fit the emotions of what the person wearing SCP-5053 intended to send. Targets affected will have drastically improved moods and will report having an improved state of mind for the proceeding 48 hours after the main effects of SCP-5053 have ended. Targets will show a very strong desire to become affected again, shortly after the main effects end; however, this desire will go away within 72 hours without contact with SCP-5053.

Addendum 5053-A: Testing of SCP-5053 has shown that it possess the ability to fully control it's targets' body; even showing signs of sentience. When 5053's target has an important task or job to fulfill, while under the drug-trip effects, 5053 will control the Target's body in order to fulfill these tasks. 5053 can complete most tasks that the target would have been capable of fulfilling normally; this limitation is applied to both physical and mental tasks. Controlled targets will be incapable of responding to any stimulus, aside from potential harm, while performing their tasks. Once all tasks are complete, the target will walk to the nearest building it would normally have permission to enter, then lie down on the floor until the remaining time of the trip is over. Controlled targets will do anything in their power to prevent harm to come to themselves. Controlled targets will not perform any tasks that would directly bring harm to themselves. Due to the potential for misuse of this extra effect, 5053's location is not to be recorded in any method, and will only be known by █████.

Investigation:

01/10/2020: Two foundation agents were instructed to trail Personnel A █████ and B █████, after multiple reports of strange behavior filed by other personnel. At 9:40 pm, A and B were seen entering the [NAME REDACTED] Pharmacy; coming out sixteen minutes later, carrying a single unknown item. They were then tailed for another two minutes before the agents ran a red light to maintain their tail, subsequently getting pulled over by local law enforcement, allowing for A and B to get away.

01/11/2020: Agents, again, tailed A and B to the same pharmacy, where at 9:40 pm they, again, spent only sixteen minutes inside, before coming out with a similar item seen on the previous day. Despite informing all local law enforcement about the tailing, the agents were once again pulled over for running the same red light, making a note that it was the same officer as the day before. In later interrogations about this event, agents were unable to identify the cop who pulled them over from photos of all actively employed police officers covering the area.

01/12/2020: The agents decided to enter the pharmacy, five minutes after A and B entered. At the time of 9:45 pm, the pharmacy was empty except for the two personnel, the two agents, and a single male (at the time misidentified as female by agents) cashier standing at the register. Agents quickly found A and B hiding in aisle twelve in the back of the store. Holding a single bottle of Motrin, the two personnel stood in this aisle, in silence, for five minutes, before walking to the front of the store. A and B purchased the item with exact cash. The cashier made a comment about how he always enjoys receiving dollar coins from the personnel, as he rarely sees them. After the purchase, the cashier hands the personnel the receipt and tells them to have an awesome night. As the agents get ready to follow the personnel to the door, the cashier asks them if they're ready to checkout. Hearing this, the agents decided to stay and buy a stick of gum to avoid drawing attention from the personnel. Agent [redacted] then says hello to the cashier; specifically recalling calling him sweety. The cashier smiles and giggles to this, and tells the agents to have a special night as he hands them the receipt.

01/13/2020: The agents assigned with following A and B were updating their Senior Agent, █████, on the status of the investigation when █████ noticed that both agents were acting strange.

Discovery: Discovered on 01/13/2020 in a local pharmacy by Senior Agent █████. Upon the Discovery that both his subordinates may have been affected by something they encountered during their investigation, █████ used their notes to surmise that the [redacted] pharmacy was the most likely location where the potential SCP would be found. At 4:12 pm, █████ purchased a stick of gum from the same cashier described by the agents. The cashier is noted as simply saying "Goodnight.," as he gave █████ the receipt. Feeling no change whatsoever, █████ re-entered the pharmacy and purchased another stick of gum. █████ intentionally misgendered the cashier, and was instead told to "Have an awesome night!" The following 24 hours are completely unaccountable by █████, besides a vague feeling of "awesomeness". On 01/14/2020, at 10:25 pm, █████ pulled over the cashier, on his way home, then took him into his custody. The cashier, identifying himself as "Jasmine" (later identified as Jason Alexander), was interrogated in █████' car for forty minutes before revealing SCP-5053, and the existence of SCP-5053-1 and a note that came with both. All three items retrieved by █████, either on sceen or at Jasons' home. Jason was administered amnestics and placed back into his car on the side of the road.

SCP-5053-1: SCP-5053-1 shows no anomilous traits; but due to its association with SCP-5053, has been cataloged and contained in a CSNI containment locker. -1 is a small piece of glass, believed to be from an aeroplane windshield; most likely from the 1940s-1950s, based on its composition. -1 is completely clouded over and cannot be seen through whatsoever.

Note: According to Jason's testimony; he received SCP-5053 in his mail box, lacking any return or destination label. The box also contained SCP-5053-1 and a note, presumably from the sender. The following is the notes' contents.
