The Long Con- The Legend of D-199815
Researcher X= D-199815
D-199815= That’s not how you say it.
Researcher X= …
D-199815= My Name. It’s pronounced D-19-98-15
Researcher X= Sorry what?
D-199815= I’m not good remembering numbers so you have to say it like that so I know it’s me.
Researcher X= D-1998..
D-199815= Nineteen, Ninety Eight, Fifteen.
Researcher X= D-19…
D-199815= because in December 1998 I was 15.
Researcher X= You were 15 in 1998?
D-199815= I don’t know. That’s just how I remember.
So to start off I have two main goals with this project. To have fun and to create something entertaining. If what I am doing dose not hit those two main goals then it is not worth doing. This goes for anyone working with me as. If you are not having fun or do not find the work entertaining its ok to walk away.
I am still working on the outline but using the 8 step story circle it goes something like this.
1. Establish world: D-Class
2. Something isn’t right: dose not want to be D-Class
3. Crossing the threshold: Finds lab coat and uses it to disguise self
4. Road of trials: D-Class learns to navigate between Lab rat and scientist personas in order to survive.
5. Meeting the Goddess: Finds a way to help everyone escape by using SCP-4628 (Chance of death or unable to reverse the effects of 4628)
6. Paying the price: Security discovers D199815 deception and offers a job in finding holes in their security. D-Class must choose to work for foundation (save self) or continue with escape plan (save others)
7. Bringing it home: Choses to Help Others
8. Master of both worlds: Having experienced the foundation as both D-class and C-class they get empathy for both and goes on to join the Serpent’s hand helping anomalies on the outside. There is still a bitterness and resentment towards the Foundation but not as bad as when we first started.
This story is told from three points of view and makes use of the Unreliable narrator.
The first Point of view is that of the foundation. The story is told through a series of lab reports, emails, video, and voice recordings. Each piece should hold up as its own mini story and the links between them are not outright apparent. Themes of these stories are: work apathy, security fatigue, not following protocol, office gossip/politics, over use of reactions, and disdain for D-class. As the story time line goes on D-199815 physical appearance becomes more muddled as they mess with the computer system to hide their identity.
The second Point of view is that of the D-Class. These stories are told through rumors, folk tales, graffiti, limericks and raunchy jokes. Themes of these tales are: a little hope in a dark world, sticking it to the man, Larger than life heroes, trickster, can seduce anyone, and smart d-class dumb scientist. In these tales D-199815 is more of an idea than a person, so each story will describe them differently going as far to change sex, gender, sexual orientation, and ethnicity. They should be able to hold their own without showing a direct link to the overall narrative. (Note this POV can be taken out as it is not really necessary just fun to write)
Finally we get one last report that links all the stories together showing the time line of events and how they fit together. This tale ends with the writer of the report getting a thank you letter from the D-Class escapee saying they know they hurt a lot of people to gain their freedom and will do right by them by not wasting it. At the end of this message is a code.
If readers are able to decode it will lead them to a secret web site. On this site there are questions they must answer to gain access. Clues to the questions are hidden in the stories. Once gaining access we get to hear the story from our D-Class person.
The webpage the reader just “hacked” is a secret page our D-Class used to record their thoughts, write notes, and important events in case she is given drugs to forget. She left clues for herself all around the foundation in order to access webpage. Clues that the readers have followed to get here.
We find out that she is suffering from Fantasy Prone Personality Disorder that might have been triggered by the attack from the unicorn. Symptoms are overactive imagination, having difficulty distinguishing between fantasy and reality and sometimes experiencing self-induced hallucinations. All the quirky funny things she’s dose throughout the other narratives is from stress induced delusions often making her forget the severity of the situation she is in. These journal entries will follow key points of the narrative and have the theme of the five sates of grief: Denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance.
