Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept inside a locked titanium box, only unlockable by Level 2 personnel. This box is locked once more inside a standard storage locker.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a tape measurer of unknown brand or origin. It is made on non-onomolise materials such as yellow plastic and black rubber, as well as a standard measuring tape. Currently, the tape maxes out at exactly 3 meters but has locked off at 2.5 meters, 1 meter, and 1.5 meters on special occasions during tests.
SCP-XXXX causes size modulation to whatever it is measuring. The effect only happens when the clip ay the end of SCP-XXXX's tape touches a part of the object. SCP-XXXX can make effected objects smaller or larger depending on whether you detract the tape or increase the distance.
Once removed from SCP-XXXX the object will remain in its new state, so far no objects have reverted back without further use of SCP-XXXX

Addendum: SCP-XXXX was purchased from a yard sale in southern Maine. Researchers looking into why a US citizen was using a metric system measurer. The yardsale in question was held on Saturday, April 17th, 1999, and still operates every weekend. The yardsale owner, Cletus Ben, has donated numerous anomalies objects to the foundation without question.

Results When testing the length of SCP-XXXX, one of the objects was moved off the table without being touched. It is believed SCP-XXXX caused its effect on the air, shooting it out similar to an air gun.

Foreword: During the yardsale directly after SCP-XXXX's containment, Site personnel were dispatched to interview Mr. Ben about his products.

Interviewer: Did you purchase the tape measurer? Did you make it yourself somehow?

Person: No, no. I just found it in my drawers one day and put it out for sale.
Interviewer: You say that, for sale, none of the items we've gotten from you were for money. Why do you give these away for free?
Person: I don't get much use for 'em. You folk seemed like you wanted them!
Interviewer: Were you aware of the unnatural abilities of the tape measurer? Or anything else we've taken here?
Person: I believe so… I'm sure I don't know more than anyone else! Its a measurer. Darn things wrong though, I use feet like a real man.

Interviewer: Right.
