Special Containment Procedures: SCP-5484 is to be kept in a cell approximately 10 meters cube that is suspended in air by 6 nuclear powered Class-3 electromagnets.

Description

SCP-5484 appears to be a gelatinous being made of extremely reflective material. Looking directly at SCP-5484 will cause the mirror effect and reflections will appear to make up the creature. SCP-5484 is hostile to all other animals it comes into contact with and should not be interacted without the approval of Green and The Archivist of the 05 Council. SCP-5484 is the only known iron-based life form in the universe and is used purely for research purposes and collecting samples of its unique body tissue. All interactions with the creature must take extreme caution, as one slight touch from the creature will begin a chain reaction with the iron atoms in the victim's body, reducing them to a dusty pile of corroded metal. This or the assimilation of all the iron atoms in the victim's body, leaving behind a lifeless husk. SCP-5484 can also take iron from inanimate objects, adding it to its own body mass and growing in size. This assimilation process makes the containment of SCP-5484 incredibly difficult since iron is in most of the alloys we use to contain anomalies. SCP staff are currently attempting to find a way to use SCP-5484 to terminate other SCP's that have avoided termination in the past, but most leads end up inconclusive, and with the death of a test subject.

Unidentified: This had better work.

Doctor Collins: It will work.

Unidentified: It's a straightforward experiment, just swap the carbon in the DNA sample for iron, and place it into the incubator.

Doctor Collins: I know that.

Unidentified: Then why the hell has it been 20 minutes since you started, and you're still not finished!

Doctor Collins: How about you try rewriting the molecular structure of an object that's half a nano-meter in width!

Unidentified: (Silence)

Doctor Collins: One more…

Unidentified: Doctor, how much did this equipment cost?

Doctor Collins: The microscope to see what the hell I'm doing cost a million on its own.

Unidentified: A million dollars, where did you get this money?

Doctor Collins: I took a few loans…

Unidentified: I know your situation since you left Chemtech Industries, you really are putting everything else you have into this experiment.

Approximately 2 minutes pass.

Doctor Collins: Alright, that's it. Into the incubator for 5 minutes.

Unidentified: About damn time.

Doctor Collins: Now then, lets talk about my return to the agency.

+++++ Doctor Collins places the sample into the incubator before him and the unidentified person leave the view of the camera.

Approximately 5 minutes pass. A cracking sound is picked up by the microphone. The incubator can be seen cracking and falling apart. A, gelatinous, metallic object about the size of a grapefruit can be seen oozing out of the mess and onto the metal test table. The table begins losing its metallic shine as the object makes contact with it. After approximately 7 seconds, the table changes color and texture to a powdery gray. The object is now estimated to be half of a meter in length, but its shape continually changes due to its gelatinous properties, making its exact size difficult to estimate.
